Tri County Electric Cooperative
Company Overview
I want to emphasize the numerous distinctions between our electric cooperative and investor-owned utilities. You might not know that our members enjoy a genuine Bill of Rights that includes the right to access trustworthy, budget-friendly, and safe electrical service along with the right to unite to create and manage a community-focused electric utility. Within a cooperative framework, all consumers are afforded fair and equal consideration. This fairness is achieved through the efforts of our management and team, but also through a Board of Trustees selected by our members. This is a prime example of the highest standard of consumer protection. Moreover, cooperatives operate under seven principles that ensure members receive fair attention from the service they collectively own. These principles include equity, accessibility, member oversight, self-sufficiency, learning, training, and information sharing, as well as collaboration among cooperatives that facilitates the strength of combined initiatives to work towards the advantage of the cooperative community. The final principle emphasizes community support. Though cooperatives always put members' interests first, they are also actively engaged to improving the communities they support.
