Tri County Electric Cooperative
Company Overview
Let me start by highlighting the numerous distinctions between our electric cooperative and traditional investor-owned utilities. You might not know that our members are granted an authentic Bill of Rights featuring the right to obtain reliable, cost-effective, and secure electricity and the right to come together to form and operate a non-profit electric utility. In our cooperative structure, every member are afforded fair and equal consideration. This is accomplished through the efforts of our management and team, and through a Board of Trustees chosen by our community. This represents consumer security at its best. Moreover, cooperatives are guided by seven principles that provide equitable treatment for members from the utility they support. These principles include equity, accessibility, member oversight, self-sufficiency, learning, training, and information sharing, including collaboration among cooperatives that enables the power of collective efforts to work towards the advantage of the cooperative community. The concluding principle centers on community welfare. Although cooperatives place members first, they consistently work to improving the communities they support.
