I highly recommend Todd's electric. When I had a problem, he not only managed to come the same day, but fixed the problem. The other four electricians I called all said they couldn't come for a week - and even then they would only come and give me an estimate rather than be ready to do the work.

Man, this guy is a dick! Super unpleasant on the phone, and gave no communication around when he would be at my house or not. When I asked him when I could expect him his response was ""I don't know"". When I pressed him on his time frame he encouraged me to not ask him again. Cancelled him immediately. I went with another company instead (Ace Electric) and they were great! Plus they came in cheaper than Todd quoted me for.

Todd was very unprofessional and did not work with my schedule at all. I asked him when he was available and he did not give me a clear answer. He expected me to fully work with his schedule and gave me NO mobility whatsoever. When I asked him his ETA he replied with ""yeah sure whatever time it takes for me to get from the Oakland museum to the house"". Unprofessional to say the least. Would not recommend.

Todd was great. Took my call on short notice and figured out why the fuse kept blowing and took care to explain what was going on. Would definitely use him again for any future electrical work.

I had a great experience with Todd. He is extremely knowledgeable and offered a lot of uncharged time speaking with me over the phone to talk through my issues and do a site visit diagnostic. He was prepared to fix my home's issues with a library of parts in his van. My home is safer and stuff works.

Bought an electric car first and then thought about the home charger second. This turned out to be a hassle because I have a semi-detached garage with no obvious path down to the sub-panel in my home. Todd saved my butt. For the initial visit, he walked around and determined a path. Later I got curious and started poking around and decided I knew a better path. Todd showed up for the job and indulged my theories and crawled around and poked a bigger hole per my instructions. Todd's path was the right call and mine was wrong. Todd let me assist during the entire job, which helped me learn about my home and electrical work. I am a EE with few practical skills and really appreciated the opportunity to learn from Todd, who is very personable and easy going. We will call Todd for any future electrical projects.

Todd is the type of electrician that made me want to sign up for Yelp and write my first ever review. He's responsive, fair, honest, and competent. He knows how to deal with old knob and tube wiring in the old houses of Oakland as well as how to meet all the newest codes to handle the latest technology. He will let you know what your options are and doesn't try to force you to spend money service that you don't need. His prices are fair and he will even come out to your house in the evenings to accommodate your schedule.

I am a DIYer to the core; but, I won't do electrical (don't want the house to burn down in the middle of the night). I have hired Todd to do the electrical on several of my projects. He is really great to work side by side with, or let go to work in another part of the house while I work somewhere else.

My fuze box is a complete mess because of almost 100 years of people doing different versions of electrical in there. I like that Todd follows the best practices method. While putting in a new circuit he cleaned up some messy busbars from others. I have actually learned enough from Todd that I did do a little of my own electrical; rest assured, the simple stuff. I will still call Todd for anything over putting in switches or outlets.

Nice guy, pleasant. Did a small job for us, good trustable work, and explained what he did. I was happy.

The only odd thing was that he charged us for ""travel time""...
I've never been charged for ""travel time"" before by any contractor-type (and I've used many), even when the address I gave was misunderstood, even if it was the boss himself that came out.

We are an 8 minute drive from his home, but were charged for 15 minutes of travel-time at his standard electrician rate. Certainly, it took him longer to get there bc he misunderstood the address. Nonetheless, stars off for not being up-front about hidden costs like charging for travel-time on the initial phone call with him.

I talked to him on the phone about this afterwards; he apologized for not being up-front about the travel-time.

Would I use him again?
Well, there are a lot of great electricians out there that don't charge for travel-time.

I'm sorry to leave a somewhat negative review bc I generally do not like to do so.
