Philip K.The key question is would I have TE&L bid another project for me? The answer is no. My project is/was a large addition to an existing home. Most of the work was new systems/wiring and minor renovations to old wire. The project also included coordination with Austin Energy and entirely new service point.
Things that were good:
1. their bid was complete and they didn't nickel/dime me on minor changes and corrections to the scope.
2. the wiring work (in particular) was clean and organized. the installers take pride in the work.
3. the cost/bid amount was within my budget and what I was expecting to pay.
4. Matt has good relationships at Austin Energy, which were very helpful in getting our service switched despite some confusion.
5. the TE&L team was able to keep our power on by using temporary runs from the service, which was very helpful at times.
Things that were bad:
1. This contractor cost me at least 3 weeks of schedule on my job. There were WEEKS that my job was quiet because of their inability to stick to a schedule or communicate. This was easily the most stressful component of the entire job.
2. The quality control of the box locations was not done, causing rework of drywall and mess after failing our initial final inspection. Matt did get the sections of drywall patched by his team, but the master electrician should have caught this.
3. Two components of the job still aren't done and ive had to hire another electrician to complete the job. Matt is unresponsive/doesn't follow up.
4. The communication between installer, master electric, and Matt was...very poor. This created stress, confusion, extra work for me...I was unable to trust anything that I was told.
5. This team was among the dirtiest- leaving trash blowing around and debris everywhere. I have a feeling that they typically don't behave this way, but I was often cleaning up after their work.
In summary, I think the individuals at TE&L have good intentions and are competent, but as a team they are not effective.
Tim and James of Texas Electric and Light did all the Electrical work for our new home construction. Our project had some atypical wiring and connections for a residential project. Tim worked with us on solving problems that arose during the length of our project. Tim and James went out of their way to fix problems created by other trades. Not only were they profesional but very personable as well. We truly enjoyed working with them.
Wow, amazing results from Texas Electric & Light!!! We had them come out to replace our electrical panel and redo pretty much all of the lighting in our remodeled home (canned lights, fans, accent lighting, etc). Not only did they do great work, but Matt had some wonderful ideas on the placement of lighting that really makes our home stand out. I am so grateful for these guys and would strongly recommend them to anyone out there looking for quality work and kind people.
We initially had them install motion sensor outdoor lighting. They installed it without an switch, so it could not be turned off. They said they charged us time and material. We cannot argue that point because we did not get an itemized bill from them. We paid the bill. We asked them to return to remedy the situation (the lights were staying on most of the night), and to install a small outdoor ceiling fan on the patio. The technicians accidentally broke the hinge on a custom door leading from the patio to the outside. Their bill was $290.00 which included a $100.00 credit for the original call and $50.00 for the door. We insisted that they fix the door and when the door was fixed, we would pay $340.00 ($290.00+50.00 credit). They returned today to fix the door. The bill was escalated to $580.00 with a credit of $180 making it $400.00. I understand that the difference is only $60.00, but we ended up paying MORE for THEIR mistake!!! We paid the bill, but we will not use them again and of course, would never recommend them to anyone. Oh, and Matt has not returned our calls.
We are so happy with the service we received! Two electricians worked on our house (on various jobs like installing ceiling fans, replacing outdoor motion detector lights, and installing fire alarms) for over seven hours and we are very satisfied with everything they did. I would definitely use them again and would recommend them to anyone.
Vesna S.WOW!! I'm impressed! I'm having an issue with some sockets here at my house and I was calling this company to schedule and what happened is that I was on a phone with Matt (sorry if I misspell your name) and he was giving me advice what to do and how to try to solve the problem! Unbelievable! So, free of charge, just advice! Marry Christmas to me from this nice guy! Thank you so much!
Bobby O.Matt and the guys at Texas Electric and Light have been super in dealing with a couple electrical issues at my house. I had a faulty GFI diagnosed and fixed and they also ran a new electric outlet for my backyard grill/kitchen last summer. On time and very efficient and professional. Thank you Matt!
Sarah K.Great, prompt service from this company. They arrived at promised time and work was done to perfection!
I had several recessed lights installed today in a dining room and living space, and Matt and his team did a great job. They helped with selecting the lights, deciding on correct placement, and they worked fast and efficiently to get them installed and working perfectly. They even did a great job cleaning everything up, too.
The lights look so good that we've already asked them to come back for a second job and re-do the old lighting in our kitchen.
Couldn't recommend these guys enough.
For our first appointment they arrived very late with no heads up. After that house call Matt promised to follow up with next steps and never called back. So we reached out several times and finally got another appointment scheduled. Matt never showed up and never called us. What a jerk.
