Surgi's Heating, Cooling & Plumbing
Company Overview
Situated between the Mississippi River valley and the Gulf of Mexico, our area deals with significant humidity all year long. Along with sweltering summer temperatures and brisk winter winds, our demands are dynamic. That’s why Surgi's Heating, Cooling & Plumbing delivers a wide range of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical services to Metairie, New Orleans, and nearby regions. Of all the home service companies in the area, you need the best. We accomplish this by offering multiple Ironclad Guarantees that promise a stellar experience with our entire team. From assurances about your HVAC unit's efficiency to safeguarding your property and providing peace of mind, our promises are evident in all our actions.
In 1964, Wesley E. Surgi founded Surgi's, laying the groundwork for our company. Between 1978 and 1981, Surgi's became the largest Trane dealer in the United States. Focusing on new construction, Mr. Surgi played a key role in developing the Metairie, Kenner, Slidell, and Mandeville/Covington suburbs of New Orleans. During this time, Surgi's accounted for 80% of all new construction mechanical permits filed in Jefferson Parish, LA.
Ownership of Surgi's changed hands in 1995, now led by Debra and Craig Johnson. Mr. Johnson holds a Mechanical Contractors license for the State of Louisiana and all necessary licenses for Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard, St. Tammany, St. John's, and St. Charles Parishes. He, along with his wife Debra and their two kids, Evan and Rachael, lives in the New Orleans region.
Over the years, Surgi's has transformed. Initially a new construction company, Surgi's has broadened its services to encompass maintenance for all heating and air conditioning brands, along with replacements.

Absolute nightmare of a company. New units installed (inside and outside), dehumidifier installed and still have the original problem! It's been two years of dealing with this company with no resolutions, just spending more money to repair what they've destroyed. Everything is under warranty but was informed today (from my daily calls to the office requesting help) they will not be servicing my units and equipment any longer! They've never corrected corrected the original problem! This has cost me thousands and thousands of dollars!! Absolutely unprofessional from the countless unanswered and avoided calls to the office to the inability to repair things they broke! To top it off, my home is still hot and with a ridiculous amount of moisture and mildew everywhere. Run from this company!

I use Surgi's for my AC and for the plumbing. They are very good their prices are not outrages. If you do it right 1st time then you aren't in a bad spot having to have things done over and over because many are trying to get things cheap. I learned the hard way coming to live here. I have never been done wrong nor have I had to overpay nor have I had to keep calling them back over and over. M. A. Turner

Requested electric work installing one ceiling light and one under counter light. They would not give me an estimate over the phone, they had to sent technician out to estimate the job. Well, the estimate was $427.00, for two lights, six screws. I refused but was still charged a service charge for coming to the house. Way inflated prices, call around, finally got installed for $205.00. Surgi's needs to stick to a/c services. They are outrageous for electrical services. Have not used plumbing services and don't intend to at these prices.

Highly recommend price shopping before committing to Surgi's. We needed a new hot water heater and got quotes from various suppliers. Surgi's was by far the most expensive, the quotes were $2,000 more for a tank water heater, and over $4,000 more for a tankless- compared to their competitors. The financing interest rates were very high too, starting at 9%!

I have purchased a high end trane system from Surgi's. Apparently, they failed to install it properly. It was a communicting system. They sent a technician that did not understand the system and he incorrectly wired it, according to another technician. A fuse was then found to be blown. I was told that it costs over $500 to replace the fuse. The fuse cost is $10 and would take less than 5 minutes to change it. If I refused to pay the $500, the technician would not proceed with the diagnostic/repair of the unit. My original system cost was over $14,000 dollars and they were trying to extort an additional $500. Reading other reviews, I suspect this is not the only case where they attempt to overcharge potential customers. Their business practices are contemptuous and I strongly recommend that you look to another company for your AC needs.

Early last week after researching most of the local AC companies I reached out to Surgi's for a quote on the failing 16-year-old central AC system at my modest Lakeview home. Their salesperson, Art, came out to the house, and after looking around my house and taking measurements, provided a quote on a Trane system that was roughly the same amount as other companies had given me for a lower-end system. Art took his time and went over the various warranties Surgi's provided on their work and equipment, and I was impressed and decided to go with them. I was able to add new attic insulation and air-duct replacement for additional costs, which I thought were also very reasonable.
Two days after signing the quote, their lead technician on the job, Chase, and his crew showed up bright and early to get started. They removed the old system and duct work and sprayed the attic in one day, and then came back and installed the new system the next. Chase and the entire crew were polite and professional and did a great job getting the entire system replaced. They worked together really well, were respectful of the property, and did not disturb items in the house or make a bunch of noise. When everything was done, I looked over everything they did, and I was impressed with the installation. Everything was connected and aligned properly. They did a great job with the insulation and new duct work, too.
I am very happy with the service I received from Surgi's. They really seem like a solid company, with employees that care about doing things right. I'll be using them again in the future and recommend them to anyone looking for a great heating and AC\plumbing company.

They sold a 76 yr old lady a Trane 2.5 ton (15 Seer approx) system installed (no new duct work, no new line set) for $16,700!!!!
That is outrageous and disgusting in my opinion. Got no help from them when I called and they said they would not be able to get me a detailed itemized bill. Basically gave me the bs runaround. Jeremy even said that they don't know the cost of the units and corporate sets the prices. BS. I have been around the construction business for 30yrs and it's my opinion that no one should hire this company

We had a mechanic come to our house last week. Though our unit is old, we requested a repair as we cannot afford a new unit. We are in the same situation as many people. The mechanic examined the unit and diagnosed the problem. He informed us that we 100% needed a new unit. A new unit would cost us $12,000! I asked him is there anyway he could repair the unit so that we do not have to buy a new unit. He said sorry there is no way. We then called| Year Round (yearroundac.com), and an honest mechanic came to our house and fixed the unit for $175. My question to you is why is it that your mechanic tried to sell us a new unit when the problem can be temporarily fixed for $175. I know it is a temporary fix but right now we cannot afford a new unit. Please address this issue. Also, I emailed this issue a week ago with no response. I called this morning and spoke with an agent and when I could not hear her over the phone her response was ""I'm here!"" Not, ""yes, good morning. I can hear you.. How may I help you""

These guys are super quick and responsive. I called to get my ac diagnosed late in the evening and they had someone (Jeremy) out the very next day. It was old (2007) and we had issues with both the heating and ac. Even though they said they could fix it i knew it being as old as it was it should be replaced. They gave me a price on a new Trane ac/furnace that has a 10 year parts and LABOR warranty. I won't say it was cheap but for me service and the labor warranty along with the 60 month 0% financing was worth it. I applied for financing over the weekend and called on Monday. They sent Jeremy out to do some measurements that day and then sent the instal team out the very next day! They (Romalis and his partner) arrived at 8am and didn't leave until the job was finished. Our attic is super tight, if I were them I would have been cursing and throwing stuff but they were very professional.
When they send a technician out they send you a text with their name and a picture of them along with some information about their experience. I thought that was a nice touch.
They never tried to push anything on me at all. Jeremy gave me all the options and answered all my questions and I was able to make an informed decision.
Would 100% go with this company again.

This is a review for HVAC service. I hired Surgis for a custom condenser pan and unit inspection following a home remodel project.
Customer service was rather impressive. They were responsive, easy scheduling and all commitments were honored. I had two service dates in the same week (my pan was made and installed in less than 24 hours) and each time I received a confirmation the day before, a picture of the technician (Rene) assigned and a call 30 min before he was headed to the home.
Once there, he took the time to explain what was needed, recommendations to keep the line clean in between service appointments and a call out regarding changing the filter on a tighter schedule post construction.
I'm happy to have found them and without question recommend them for HVAC needs.
