I had an extremely rude person basically tell me the job could only be done with the replacement of the circuits breakers panel system. turns out that was in fact not the case. do your homework. Charlatans.

The price increase was not what I expected. I was quoted a cost of $69.00 because I am a past customer, but the price I paid was $234 or more.
this change in price will end my trust and put an end to my future business with Suncoast.

We had a very simple job: Turn off the power to our home security system which we don't use. I didn't have a manual for the system and it wasn't entirely clear how to do it from information on the Internet. I figured it would be a ""no brainer"" for an electrician, so I called Southcoast Electric. The security system is a national brand and very common throughout south Florida. (Over 1,000 homes, townhouses, and condos in our development alone have them.)

Unfortunately, the Suncoast Electric technician who arrived was clueless. I showed him the keypad for the system in the living room and told him that my understanding was that a transformer connected to the keypad needed to be unplugged to shut down the system. For some reason he tried to pull the keypad from the wall, unsuccessfully. I said that there was a ""box"" above the circuit breaker panel that night be the transformer. He said ""no,"" the transformer would be in the attic. Before going to the attic, we looked at the circuit breaker unit in the garage. Even though the security system was clearly marked as #27, he kept turning other breaker switches off and on; later we had to reset clocks, microwave, etc. because he had done that.

He then removed the circuit breaker cover, said it was an old unit that should be upgraded, saw a shadow that said it might be a water stain from a leak, none of which anything to do with the turning off the power to the security system. I showed him a metal box mounted on the wall near the breaker box; it had an electrical cord protruding from it plugged into an electrical outlet. I asked him if that could be the transformer and he said he didn't know. We moved a box on a storage shelf that was in front of the unit, and sure enough, there was the name of the security company. I suggested to the technician that the metal box might be the transformer and if we unplugged it, that might turn the power off to the security system. I suggested we try that before he headed into the attic, looking for the transformer. He said okay; we did; and it worked.

Despite the fact that he was there for about 20 minutes and I solved the problem, he charged me the full amount ($204) I had been quoted for the service call! When I asked if I could use my credit card, he said yes but would charge me an extra 4%; I paid with a check. Before leaving he asked if I wanted a quote for replacing our supposedly outdated circuit breaker box, which has not been a problem, I told him no.

Needless to say, I was very disappointed in Suncoast Electric.

when my lights did not go on last nite, I called Suncoast and got great service at 9:30 pm; whoever answered the phone was super efficient and Matt called me immediately to discuss my problem. He had Diego their technician in my house early today, and he was terrific and professiona. he handled the problem as well as other electrical issues I've neglected. I was 100% happy and satisfied and I will be having the party I was hosting tonight with lights working in more places than I expected.

The Suncoast team wired up my kitchen and bathroom when I had a flood. They pulled all the permits really fast, text me every day when they were on their way, cleaned up, had follow up calls to inform me on the process. They showed me where to buy fixtures, and threw in a few surprises! Highly recommended and showed me all their licenses dating back to 1949! I will be giving them more work when I do the other side of the house. Chris is a great contact who informed me all the time on the steps! They are my go to company!

I would give 10+ stars for my experience. Chris was extremely helpful over the phone and with our needs. We also got to work with Harold, who was super responsive and kind. Mike, the other tech was especially helpful when we were in a big time of stress cause we had a faulty breaker panel that was due to a poor home inspection. Plus some outlets that were also unsafe. They fixed all of these issues in a 2 day period and for a good price.

I'll be asking for Mike for anything we need in the future he was the best, taking care of everything we needed. Mike went above and beyond by explaining issues to me while he was inspecting our outlets and breaker so I knew why they needed to be fixed, and so much more about electric in my condo that will help me down the road in knowing if something is going wrong
