Born and raised in Austin, Stan Johnson Sr. possessed a natural talent for all things mechanical. After a stint as a partner in a filling station on Barton Springs Road, he worked as a union carpenter before finding his true calling at a local AC service company. Stan decided to venture out on his own. In 1954, he and his wife founded their own AC service company, focusing on his skills and dedication to customer service.
The first office for Stan's was situated in the backyard of a home at Denson and Guadalupe. Central air conditioning only became affordable for many central Texans in the mid-1960s. Since the start, the Stan's Family has been at the forefront of air conditioner installation and service in Austin, and we proudly continue that tradition today. Stan's has grown to address all plumbing requirements and remains dedicated to serving the Austin community with a sizable team of experienced plumbers.

The technician Price is super professional, super nice, and a true trouble shooter!
Our thermostat reported a error and our HVAC stopped functioning last week end, so we called this company to fix the urgent issue. They send two technician that afternoon, just for a problem diagnostic, but they seems not professional enough to finish their job(forgot to power back our compressor after having a problem check), then that night we slepted with no cooling system at all.
Today, we called Stan's to send someone back to install our new thermostat. Then Price was here to help. As I said, he is pofession, nice, and effective! This 5 stars is just for his service, not for Stan's company as a whole.

I had toilet emergency and had been at my wit's end from staying up all night flushing a toilet every 5 min until 6am til the water finally stopped. I finally got 3 1/2 hrs of sleep. When I called around 10am they were here within 10 min. Javier was fantastic at explaining to me the problem and giving me my options. He was quick and efficient. Very friendly, professional, and thorough. I'm one happy customer and I will recommend them and use them time and time again. Aaaaaaaaaaaand they are local-bonus!
Aitarg I.Thank you, Gabe and Roland! Y'all came out in the rain today to address the issues with my new HVAC. Well, the issues surrounding the Carrier HVAC because that baby works beautifully. One thing I had reported as an issue on the outside operation can't be fixed until the rain stops, which is fine with me. It's a long term issue, not something that affects the AC. I wouldn't let anyone back there now to work on it & risk electrocution.

Kim A.Update: Stan's sent someone out and repaired the issue. I also received a follow up call from the customer service manager. He was very helpful and genuine and wanted to make things right. We will recieve a year of Stan's Goldstar service for free to ensure the unit has no more problems. I appreciate Stans's making an effort to fix the problem.
We chose Stan's to purchase a new air conditioning unit because we were impressed with the proposal provided. They completed installation of the unit on a Friday at 3:00pm and by 8:00pm that same day, water was streaming through our kitchen ceiling. They sent out emergency service and fixed the problem that night. It was a problem with the way they installed a drain.
Two weeks later their inspector came out. He took some pictures and said it passed. The next day, the air conditioning unit broke again.
Be wary of this company and the skill of their installers. We paid $11,500 for a new unit that has broken twice in its first month.
We made a mistake choosing Stan's.
Jeff B.Stan's came to help me install a Nest thermostat. I tried doing it myself, but it wasn't as simple as the instructions made it out to be. A technician came to my house the next day after making an appointment. He did a good job of installing the thermostat, but my unit is apparently a two stage model. The wiring installed in my house only allows for a single stage to be in use. The technician told me he would contact me the next week to help install another wire so that I could make use of the two stages. I waited the next week and received no call. It would've been fine with me if he would've said, ""please call our office next week."" But I'm always irritated when people say they'll do something and then don't. Maybe it's an old fashion way to think.
Milissa W.Super pleased with the service. Solved a 12 year problem in 15 minutes that another company couldn't solve. Well worth the cost. They came back and did the summer tune up too. Made some recommendations but no pressure to buy anything else. Absolutely recommend and will definitely use again.
Totally disappointed with Stan's (again). We purchased Stan's prepaid Gold Level PM contract for our two HVAC units. We called today to request one of our covered visits, and we were informed that no one could come out until August to check out our units. We are exasperated that we would not be able to have the units checked until nearly the end of summer. After my husband expressed his frustration, the scheduler was able to fit us in the middle of July.
One would think that PM would be completed prior to the start of summer or early summer and the purchase of a service contract would make us a higher priority.
Since, the volume of customers for Stan's is more than they can handle right now, I will look elsewhere for a service contract.
I had also recommended Stan's through our neighborhood Facebook page, but will amend this recommendation in light of this situation.
My ac would not work after the freeze, so I had Stan's come out since they were the ones to install my unit. Apparently, all the freon was gone. Tech couldn't explain why. So, 940 dollars later and it's still hot. The humidity us the same as the temp. I've only had this unit for 21/2 years, so it's 6 months out of warranty. I will never call this company again. No one that's come out can explain why it's not working properly.
On time,as promised -- and they had the part needed. Friendly and reliable, what you want in an HVAC guy.
Jessie W.I called after hours with a leaking ceiling. I told them that it was right under a water heater but the AC was in the same place. They sent someone promptly but after he came he said he was an AC guy and this is a plumbing issue and they have no plumbers. By now it is 1030 pm and I had a leaking water heater. He was great and tried to lessen the pressure on the water heater. But they should've sent a plumber for a water leak or at least told me the guy wasn't going to be able to help if it was plumbing. I would've called someone else.
