Born and raised in Austin, Stan Johnson Sr. developed a love for all things mechanical. After a stint at a filling station on Barton Springs Road and working as a union carpenter, he discovered his passion at a local AC service firm. He chose to launch his own business. In 1954, Stan and his wife opened their AC service company, focusing on his knowledge and commitment to customer satisfaction.
The initial office for Stan's was in the backyard of a house on Denson and Guadalupe. Central air conditioning only became accessible to many Central Texans in the mid-1960s. From the beginning, the Stan's Family led the way in installing and servicing air conditioners in the Austin area, and we continue to do so with pride today. Stan's has broadened its services to include all plumbing needs and continues to support the Austin area with a large, skilled team of plumbers.

Stan's has been taking good care of us for years but it always counts more when the need is big and the staff is attentive. Lately we've had something going on with our unit (and in one week we've been going between AC and Heating). Gerald is very patient, knowledgeable, and very helpful to get us service in a timely manner and really help to problem solve in parts needed. Thanks so much!

Simple heater ignitor replacement. Stan's charges $366 for a $90 Lennox replacement part., I have used Stan's for years, but will not again, and will advise anyone to steer clear of them.

Although the plumber they sent worked hard and was very personable their charges were exorbitant and the results were negligible. Although they've had ample time to do so, they have not provided any alternative suggestions for remedying our problem as they promised. Because of their inability or lack of interest in solving our problem, even though they have been rewarded handsomely for their failed efforts, I cannot recommend them.

I am 77 year old military widow whose kitchen faucet broke today. I paid the service person from Stan's $441 to install a new faucet. Stan's did not furnish the faucet. I bought the faucet at Lowe's. The faucet is faulty which the service person from Stans, who has 30 years of experience, didn't realize until the faucet was installed. Lowe's said they install for $189. I just left Lowe's where I was told they can do nothing without the return of the faulty faucet that would cost another $441 to remove the service person from Stans told me.
He also told me he'd give me a discount so I'd pay under $400. When I got the bill it was $441. When I placed the order with Stan's I was told there would be an $89 service fee just for their coming that would be waived if I allowed the work to be done. It wasn't waived. Nothing on the invoice indicated that there was an $ 89 waiver.
I'm very disappointed and hope you will be smarter than I was. Get your faucet from
Lowe's and have them install it. Congratulations Stans! Ripping off the elderly!

November 2024: We recently had a new AC and heating system installed by Stan's, and we are once again very pleased with the service provided. The project manager who came to explain our options and the technicians who installed the system were all excellent. They answered all of our questions, provided a reasonably priced option, and did such a great job with the installation. We count on Stan's for our heating, air, plumbing, and electrical needs! We also appreciate the Gold Service Club plan which provides valuable extra services and discounts. Thank you to John (Project Manager), Andrew, George, and Felix (Technicians), and also to the dispatchers who get us scheduled so promptly whenever I call!

Awesome. Same day service within an hour of my call and great communication prior to the appointment. Stan's took care of my water heater leak and this was the day after Thanksgiving. Nothing but an extremely positive experience. I recommend them and will call them again if I ever need help.

I contacted David Renault, the original salesperson, on 10/6/2024 via email and this supposed Michelle England on 10/27/2024 and as of 11/11/2024 I have heard ZERO and the unit runs 24/7 and does not cool the house down a single degree and the heater smells of mold.
Again, $17,000 and not even 3 years old.

Absolutely abysmal in every way. I had to have the air conditioners replaced during the pandemic and supply was short and the smaller places that I normally use were being out stripped by places like Stan's.
Well, we all know how bad the summers have been so $17,000 for top end unit that I assumed would lasty 20 years. Not 3 years in and I already have $1,400 repair bill.
To boot, install was heinous, but all service providers during the pandemic were. The installers were basically 20-year-old dudes making too much money and too cool for school.
Fast forward to the first servicing and I told them the next day something was not working the same. It cooled down and I was ill so I let it go. When I had the units serviced this year I told them again and they implied it was me. Nope a few weeks later the whole unit stopped working, yup it was all in the old chicks head.
You wonder why women get irate, this is a perfect example.
It is ok though, it looks to be brewing class action suit product based on what I am seeing online and Stan's will get roped in because there is absolutely no way that they did not already know that there were issues.
Corporate greed at its absolute best, this is what is destroying America, my last units were 30 years old. I really regret replacing the second unit now.
Carrier Infinity series, run the other way, Stan's do not believe the salespeople.

After years of patching my old upstairs central air unit I decided to upgrade and selected Stan's Air Conditioning to do the service. Brandon and Nathaniel, the technicians, showed up 30 minutes early and replaced the A/C , furnace and outdoor compressor unit over the next several hours. They also added another two vents and returns to improve air flow and lower operating costs. I'm super-pleased with the work. Installation was in a tight space but they managed to install it text-book perfect as the attached image shows. After installation Brandon walked me through using the new Ecobee thermostat and gave tips on quarterly maintenance to keep it running smoothly. This is the third time I've called on Stan's in 10 years and they have been consistently professional and reliable every time. I highly recommend them.

Javier did a great job installing our new kitchen faucet. Stan's was prompt in getting our service scheduled and Javier was right on time. He also found the source of a water leak under the sink and contacted a water removal specialist to come out immediately to begin the drying out process. We have used Stan's for other services and will continue to use them. They are great to work with.
