Born and raised in Austin, Stan Johnson Sr. possessed a natural talent for all things mechanical. After a stint as a partner in a filling station on Barton Springs Road, he worked as a union carpenter before finding his true calling at a local AC service company. He chose to start his own business. In 1954, Stan and his wife opened their own AC service business, centered around his knowledge and commitment to serving customers.
The initial office for Stan's was in the backyard of a residence at Denson and Guadalupe. Central air conditioning only became affordable for many central Texans in the mid-1960s. The Stan's Family has always been a leader in the installation and servicing of air conditioners in Austin, and we take pride in continuing that legacy today. Stan's has broadened its services to include all plumbing needs and continues to support the Austin area with a large, skilled team of plumbers.

Cindy S.Marco was great today checking my AC unit. Each time Stan's come out to check my unit they are very thorough. I also appreciate their professionalism.
Don't even bother with this company. I would like to give then zero stars, but I give them one star because the diagnostician who came out was courteous and accurately diagnosed our problem. The follow up from the company after that was non-existent. They were supposed to gives us an estimate on HVAC system replacement, but the estimate never came. When I followed up two days later to ask about the estimate I was told I should have called to schedule to have yet another person come out to write up an estimate. It was like the $96.00 we paid for the diagnostician to come out was for nothing. Seriously, this company did nothing to actually help us with an a/c problem in the middle of June. The $96.00 I paid this company was a total waste.
We have used Stan's for 14 years. Last night our AC went out. And hey - it's hot outside. We called them this morning, and they got here within a few hours. They had us up & running quickly for a reasonable repair cost. We'll stay with Stan's!
I picked Stan's because they had been around for a long time and I thought they would do a good job. I was very wrong. I had a leak in the foundation and pipes had to be rerouted through the attic. They left after 3 days and nothing was put back- furniture was moved and left. He didn't check any of the faucets to see if they worked and primary shower and kitchen sink were not functioning. They did send out a man to fix them (his name was Carrington and he was exceptional) but it took 3 days to get the kitchen faucet working. Originally the first guy apparently yanked the sprinkler system wires out and said it would be easy to reconnect them. No it wasn't and cost me $450 to repair. I had to tell them they needed to come fill in the 40 ft. ditch they dug. I was told they thought the job was finished so I suppose I was lucky that they sent someone to fill it in.
I would never recommend them and they seemed very unconcerned about the extra $450 I had to spend to rewire the sprinkler. The first guy must have told me 50 times how experienced he was, maybe trying to convince himself because I wasn't impressed.
Don't use them if you want things done and completely finished before they take off.
They provide pathetic service. Beware of them, they place a defective piece during one of their visits, resulting in a leaking in the bathroom, their agent showed the broken pipe and even confirmed it is their mistake and agreed to get it fixed after talking to their manager and the so-called the manager refuses to accept or take any responsibility and says they don't install broken pieces.
Sonalee B.I really wanted to like this company and have been a regular customer for a while. However they recently quoted me $2500 to replace a toilet and flange. This costs about $280 through most plumbers or Home Depot etc. also the prices seemed to be changing (I got several different final amounts verbally). I do think they can give you an accurate diagnosis but charges are about ten times what they should be. They previously charged me over $400 to replace a basic thermostat (not a smart one). So although I think they will fix your problem, you are going to pay way more than you could by getting multiple quotes.
Samuel Marquez serviced two units. He is personable, on time, knowledgeable, and professional. I highly recommend him and Stan's.
Thank you.
I wish I could give them 10 stars! My wife and I were babysitting our grandson in Austin. The AC stopped working during the night. I called Stan in the morning, and they had a technician out within three hours to repair a bad fan motor. However, the technician, Michael Collins, discovered that only a capacitor needed replacing. He had one on hand and it was fixed the same day. Very fast, very inexpensive, very professional I wouldn't go any place else.
Tracy B.After having several inept service people come out to our house. We were finally able to get the correct part and an experienced tech to install our new blower motor. The manager was very kind and apologetic about all the hassles.
Stan's is a local company that treats its customers like old friends. I recommend them very highly. I especially recommend Sam Marquez. He was so friendly and knowledgeable, and happy to explain everything he was doing. I'm definitely sticking with Stan's and Sam Marquez for all future work on my system.
