I was having a problem with my gas oven which would turn off while on with no apparent reason. I had an appliance repair company come check it out and came up with a wrong diagnosis....he thought it was attributed to a short in the oven light. The fix was to tape the wire to the oven light switch which did not solve the problem.
So I turend to Yelp and found South Bay Electric Company. Explained the situation to Ian and set up an appointment. He took the time to listen to my situation and asked questions to make an assessment over the phone.

Derrick from his team came out on right on time at the appointed scheduled time. The problem was a bad circuit breaker. He replaced it with a new breaker and the problem was solved. I was only charged for the service call and no charge for the circuit breaker since I mentioned I found them on Yelp! Score! Thanks Ian. I will definitely refer your company to my friends, neighbors and relatives.

SBEC couldn't be more fantastic. They are reasonable, extremely knowledgeable, efficient and honest. Ian came out and estimated the cost of the job, but it was Derrick and Manor who did the actual work. I was so impressed with them and I felt they went above and beyond to get the job done. They changed a lot of outlets to CFI's, installed another flood light. They even mounted my TV and hooked up Bose speakers to my TV. Also, Ian looked over our inspection report and advised us to only do the necessary work--he never pushed in any way to spend more than what was needed. I would absolutely hire them again.

Called South Bay Electric based on Yelp reviews. We discovered some strange home wiring issues during a room renovation to our house. South Bay came the next day and worked through the issues and got everything working quickly & for a fair price.

Being the smart person that I am, at 8 months pregnant,my nesting instincts kicked in and I decided that I needed to have recessed lighting for our 3 rooms. I was nervous about trying to find an electrician, since I hear so many horror stories and didn't know what to expect. But thank goodness I came across the yelp reviews on South Bay Electric Company because they were amazing and a delight to work with.
I called Ian and told him what I needed, and he gave me a quick quote over the phone. And a few days later, came in person to take a look at the job I would like completed, and gave me a quote (without charging me for the quick house visit). Ian was very nice, knowledgeable, and straight forward. Two of his guys (Angel & Joel) came a week later to put in my recessed lights.
First off, they were PUNCTUAL. Showed up at 9:05am, for the 9am appointment. Both were incredibly nice and fast. Their work was clean and accurate, and what impressed me was they left without a mess in my rooms! I am super happy with my new recessed lights and my nesting urges are satiated for the time being. Call them, you won't regret it!

Wow. I called on Thursday. Ian gave me an estimate via photos that day and made an appointment for his company to come out the following Monday. It was 2 jobs in 2 rooms. They completed it in less than one day. No mess. No fuss. Friendly. Professional. Best of all despite the 15 foot ceiling in the one room with no attic space above, amazingly no holes left to patch. This was amazing because I've helped my fiancé with this kind of job on shorter ceilings and the holes that needed to be patched after were plentiful. The 15 foot ceiling was too much for us to try on our own. I'm glad we didn't and instead called this company. I would without a doubt recommend this company for your electrical needs

I think I've known Ian, the Owner of South Bay Electric for about 11 years. I'm an owner of a Real Estate Property Management Company. The only way I will allow someone OTHER than Ian to fix electrical issues at my properties is if he's on vacation and it's an emergency. If it's not an emergency...we wait until he gets back.
Of course..at my own home....I only call Ian.

Ian from South Bay responded quickly to our request for an estimate, listening carefully to our needs and concerns, demonstrated intelligent problem-solving, and presented a far quote.

The crew installed fans and lights, put in a couple dedicated circuits, and repaired outdoor and pool lights. They provided quality and efficient work while taking the time to explain the job and answer questions along the way.

In the end, the job came up under the estimated budget - a nice surprise

Ian is great. I called him about an electrical problem that I couldn't figure out. He began by suggesting things I could do to fix the problem myself at little cost. This, more than anything, is why I'll go back to him.

Sadly, I wasn't able to fix the problem on my own. So I had him out, he nailed the problem, and charged a reasonable fee.
