When it finally became time to make my darling husband's long-standing dream of bringing a Tesla into the family come true, our next stop after ordering it was to turn our attention to buying the wall charger and to getting the electricity all juiced up to it! So, my first stop, naturally, was to take to Yelp to check out the reviews, based on the preferred list of electricians that Tesla suggested! This is how we happened upon Smart Charge America!

Y'all, we simply COULD NOT be more pleased with Smart Charge America! The extremely reasonable price that my husband was quoted was what it ended up at, and the whole experience was excellent from beginning to end!

For some context, we live in a classic, early-80s-built neighborhood in the north side of Austin, so we were a bit worried about the whole 2022 electricity needs in a seriously 80s real estate world, and, after loads of quotes, we were even more worried!

Smart Charge America rolled in, though, and we just knew that we had found our peeps! They've obviously done this a few (thousand) times, so that assured us that we were in good hands, but it was really when Damir and Anthony showed up on install day that all was good in the world. They rolled in clearly knowing what they were doing, and they took it from there. They brought our dusty, old electrical box up to fresh and new 2022 electrical code and our garage is now a charging station ready to juice our beautiful new Tesla girl! The results are simply gorg!

These, my Yelp friends, are THE people who you want to install your Tesla chargers! Full stop!

Francisco and Clifford were on time, worked efficiently, and did a wonderful job. When determining what type of charger we needed, the coordinated/scheduler was very helpful in understanding our needs in a very detailed breakdown. I highly recommend this company.

Great service all around! Scott provided excellent communication from the beginning letting me know he would get a quote to me as soon as possible in regards to installing my Tesla charger. Once a quote was provided I was surprised at the cost as I was expecting a much higher price. Francisco and Clifford were just as awesome when it came to installing everything. They called me to let me know they were on their way and were quick to get everything set up. They also took the time to show and explain to me everything that they did. I would highly recommend this company especially if you are wanting to get a Tesla charger installed.

Great experience from start to finish. I requested estimates from several installers for our 1970s-era home and it took them a little longer to respond but was worth it.

TL;DR on the estimate: Great price. I asked about some issues other installers mentioned and was assured that this install was safe, and in code. Rather than try to upgrade capacity on the breaker box in my garage, we opted to just put the 60 amp breaker on the main panel in the back yard and run conduit to the garage.

Garrett and James showed up the day of the install, walked me through the scope of work and locations, and got to it. A few hours later they asked me into the garage to add the Tesla wall connector to my wi-fi network and it was done. Barely an hour later, I got an email with info about how to move forward with rebates and tax credits.

I'm glad some people had a good experience, and I expected the same because they had the best reviews of all Tesla recommended installers.

They offered me a date and time to schedule, and I moved my schedule around it. They also emailed me the day before to confirm, with a list of things to do to get ready for the installation.

Ten minutes (!!) before the electrician's arrival I get a text, not a call but a text, saying there was confusion with the scheduling office and they will be calling me soon. I never got a call though, and had to reach out to Madison myself to find out what was happening. I still have no answer why, but was told they would ""try to make it right.""

They are double the price of other electricians, and I chose them first because you expect a level of service and professionalism with a company like this, but I got the exact opposite. I explained this to them, and the said they would try and make it up. I have a very busy schedule so finding weekdays to be available and at hoe is difficult. Not to mention with lost revenue from being home for the day. So instead of rolling the dice again, I requested a refund and chose another company doing the same installation for less than half of the Smart Charge America's quoted cost. A week later, they still have not refunded what I paid in full two weeks prior to the installation.

If you don't value your time or your money, Smart Charge America may be a great option. They weren't for me, unfortunately.

Unresponsive. Took them more than a week to provide a very vague quote typed in an email. There is no breakdown of anything. Super high level quote. I replied and asked a couple of questions, but it has been days without getting a response. If this is the way they handle a new prospect, I can only imagine what it would be like after I agree to their work. Will the work take a while to be done? What about issues? If they can't handle the sales aspect effectively, imagine that process when one has an issue and need an adequate response. No thank you

I had a great experience with these guys installing an EV charger in my Garage. Scott gave me multiple options for the install and scheduled the install. Dee & James came right on time, walked me through the process and did a great install. Would highly recommend them.
