Highly disappointed, we went through our home warranty company that called this provider. He came and took the fan down and then left it in the middle of my daughters room and then gave me the run around for a week. He then marked the claim complete and finally I heard that he cannot fix the problem and that it isn't covered and that he isn't comfortable doing it and to find another electrician. A complete waste of time!

John from Silver Stand Electric came out to my home on Friday May 8th. This service call was through my home warranty company, so if you reach out to him directly, your experience may be different. John was in a rush when he came to my house early that morning. He made it VERY clear that he did NOT want to complete this job as it would require him going into a crawl space. He was in such a rush that he left my backdoor open, which I did not notice until later in the day. It seems that technicians who work with Home Warranty companies are more interested in the diagnosis fee that doing the discounted work through the Home Warranty company. He told me there was an installation issue, and he was not sure it would be covered. Fine, that reasonable right? Well, per American Home Shield, he told them that the wires had been cut and took photo evidence that the wires had been cut. I recently moved into the home so it was not done by me. This is not an issue, but had he been more transparent, I would have just hired him or someone else to fix the outlet. I had to wait 4 days for the home warranty company to call me back. All of his negative reviews seem to be from Home Warranty customers. If he was just honest, I think his rating would improve. It seems like he makes a decent income just doing a few home warranty calls and never actually fixing anything. Which of course the home warranty company love, they will hire him forever.

Highly disappointed that what John was hired for wasn't done. Needed a ceiling fan replaced. Instead, he just took down my ceiling fan. Ignored me for some time. Tells me he will contact me Monday. Still haven't heard from him. A complete waste of time!


No you did not need to remove my fan. The light still worked. Since you knew beforehand you should not have taken it down. And you shouldn't ignore a customer.

Negative 1 Star would be more accurate:

I would NEVER recommend this company!!! Silver Strand Electric was sent to me by my home warranty company American Home Shield to fix an electrical problem that I was having. When John (the electrician) came to fix the electrical problem, he broke a light fixture. I'm sure it was an accident! Accidents DO happen! John wrote the model number down of the light fixture that he broke & said that he'd be back, & that was over 3 weeks ago. I haven't heard from John or Silver Strand Electric since. I've called John & left several messages & gotten no response. The warranty company has reached out as well. Horrible business over a 53.90 part. I assume this is why companies are licensed AND insured. As a result American Shield Home Warranty is going to put Silver Strand Electric on a ""Do Not Use"" vendor list. Horrible...just horrible! My next stop, Better Business Bureau....all of this over 53.90

*Update* In response to John's horrible explanation, why would he:
1.Tell me he would be back after writing down the model # & never return.
2.Not return any of my calls or the calls from the warranty company.
3.Or respond to the Better Business Bureau when they asked him the same thing.

No matter how you look at it, this company is EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL!!!!!
