These guys are honest and know what they're doing! I had hired a different company to upgrade my circuit panel. The other company never filed for a permit! We reached out to David (Shok Electric) and he saved us! He filed the proper paperwork and worked with DWP getting us up to date with the right permit. He also had to fix all the problems the other company had done. He also just yesterday came out because my garbage disposal switch stopped working. He said that it was just a button on the garbage disposal that had tripped. He refused to charge me! He said he was already in my neighborhood! Wow! I highly recommend this family owned biz!! His wife and son also work with him. My husband and I are so blessed that we found Shok Electric!

We randomly had power go out in multiple parts of the house due to repeated circuit trips one day, and found Shok Electric on Yelp - can now confirm all the 5 star reviews for Claudia and David! Things I appreciated:

1) Easy scheduling: Claudia couldn't fit us in the same afternoon, but committed to having someone come out early the next morning. She gave a ~30 min time window when we could expect David at our house and followed up with a call to let us know he was on his way.

2) Great service: David was super patient with my many questions and did a thorough check up on the circuit boxes, the voltage on the outlets, etc. He didn't identify any addressable issues (which was a relief!), but explained what to look out for next time. As someone who's a total amateur with things like this, I appreciated that he did a thorough inspection but also didn't push any repairs we didn't need.

3) Waived consultation fee: Since we didn't need any work done this time, David waived the reasonable consultation fee even though we would have happily paid it for the time he spent checking things up & helping us understand the issue! So nice to find a local company that's clearly committed to building long term relationships and doing right by their customers.

Though we certainly hope we don't need to contact Shok Electric too often, we know who we're calling any time we need help.

A loose wire on the back of a kitchen outlet caused a near disaster when the outlet began to melt and filled my kitchen with smoke. Not being able to isolate that outlet myself, I had to go without power in order to avoid making it worse.

Luckily, Shok Electric answered my call and was able to come diagnose the issue and replace the outlet within just a few hours' time. I am extremely grateful for the quick response and the fair price, thank you!

I had a circuit breaker that kept tripping and Shok Electric was able to resolve the issue. Many thanks to Claudia for her prompt replies and helping schedule an appointment on short notice. A big thank you to David for identifying and fixing the electrical short restoring power to my home. I will definitely seek their help again for any future electrical work.

As a returning client, Shok continues to be the best electricians in the metro LA area. After requesting a visit, David came out explaining clearly and explicitly why what I wanted couldn't be done, and what the consequences would be if anyone attempted to do it. Clearly operating in the customer's best interests, and for that I'm extremely appreciative and grateful. I wanted to pay for the consultation but he refused. Will always be used for future electrical repairs.

Shok ROCKS! These guys came through on time and on budget for the replacement of the entire breaker box assembly that we needed in a hurry in our condo. Later when we had a problem with a circuit they returned, determined that someone else had run a screw into the neutral wire, fixed the problem....and wouldn't take any money. We interacted with a number of other (non-electrical) contractors in the course of fixing up this place for rental and our lives would have been IMMEASURABLY better if any of the other outfits had been 1/2 as competent, honest and dependable as these guys. You cannot do better.
