Sesco Electrical
Company Overview
With 28 years of expert residential and industrial electrical work, we specialize in fixes, updating vintage wiring, upgrades, fresh wiring setups, service upgrades, eco-friendly inside and landscape lighting, low-voltage setups, and complete home automation. Our services include solar energy system design and setup. As a family-owned business, we are dedicated to excellence in our work and client happiness. Furthermore, we are a minority and woman-led company.
Our founder, Peitsa Hirvonen began his journey in the building trades alongside his father. Both are originally from Finland and uphold the legacy of quality craftsmanship and dedication to quality. During the 1980s, he gained electrical knowledge from area electricians and founded SESCO Electrical in the year 1992. Originally specializing in earthquake safety and electrical systems, by the late 1990s, the business had grown into solar energy and electrical work as it continues today. SESCO incorporated in the year 2005 and added Regina Gilligan, his spouse, as a joint owner. Now, in the year 2020, Peitsa and Regina are set for a new chapter in life and have passed on SESCO Electrical to two valued team members, Virginia Gonzalez and Hugo Lopez.
Virginia Gonzalez is from the Bay Area and is a dedicated mother of 3 boys. Hugo Lopez originated from Guatemala and has 35+ years of experience as an electrician. He proudly serves as a co-owner of SESCO Electrical. Having worked at SESCO, he is enthusiastic to continue the legacy of SESCO.

I am not sure what happened with Sesco Electrical and the job at my house. After a couple of phone calls with Virginia to arrange an estimate at my house, Hugo did not show up at the appointed time. I called and left a message asking if he was still planning to come. No answer, no return call, no show! At the least, I would have appreciated a call back to apologize and reschedule. Very disappointed.

Repeat performance.
One of the 8 apartments in this 100 year-old building was vacated so this was an excellent opportunity to upgrade.
As usual, Greg came up with an innovative way to gain access to all areas by creating a small access door into the attic.
A new 20/30 electrical distribution panel was installed in the unit's hall fed by 60 amps from the main panel.
I am pleased to say the job was done efficiently and with integrity.
I'll stick with Sesco Electrical!

Awesome, professional, worth every penny. Don't cheap out on electric work of your biggest investment/asset.

We had Sesco Electrical install a new electric panel, hardwired lighting in our newly purchased condo, and upgrade the wiring (pre-renovation) in our kitchen, and install undercabinet LED lights in January-February 2016. The workmanship / professionalism displayed by Pietsa, Greg and their team was nothing short of superb! During each step of the process, Greg (and Pietsa) were extremely transparent, outlined our options and helped to identify the best path forward for our renovation and finished all work ON time and on budget! Would highly recommend Sesco for any of your electrical needs AND will definitely be using them again in the future!
Post-work note: 1 year after completing the job, we reached out to Sesco because a baseboard heater in our dining room wasn't turning on. Less than 24 hours after sending Regina an e-mail, Greg came over and fixed the problem immediately! Customer satisfaction / quality work is something they take very seriously - thank you, Greg (and Regina) for addressing our concerns in such a timely fashion!

SESCO recently helped us to upgrade our home's electrical system. They replaced one panel, moved another, and solved numerous wiring problems stemming from years of poor electrical work by other contractors. We were extremely happy with the job and highly recommend them. Peitsa, Virginia, Ezra and Hugo were all wonderful to work with -- courteous, creative, skilled, and a pleasure to have in our home. Their work was thorough and very organized, and we never felt that the scope of the project went beyond what we expected. We certainly would use SESCO again!

Our company just finished an entire house rewiring and a main panel upgrade with SESCO on the 3500 sqf house in Berkeley. I am impressed with the work performed and will not hesitate to recommend them to anyone. Peitsa is a delight to work with.

Sesco did a fantastic job sorting out our newly purchased home's electrical issues. They were able to wire in all the new fixtures we wanted as well as bypass all of the knob and tube as they went.
Bypassing the knob and tube wasn't something we were expecting to be able to do on our budget. Due to Sesco's (Ezra and the team's) excellent skills and frequent communication, we were able to move in a process where they were able to keep the work closely aligned with our budget. The quality of their work is also superb. I love the feeling of knowing I had the job done right! I can't wait to use them again for future projects.

I used Sesco several years ago, long before I used Yelp. Recently needed a electrition and noticed I had not reviewed them. I manage a 10,000 square foot Historical residence in the Berkeley hills.
The team at Sesco did a spectacular job replacing our main service from the pole to all new panels. The house is a 100 years old all concrete and all projects are complicated. Not only did Sesco have to deal with the usual permits but also had to negotiate a solution between PG&E and the city landmarks commission that took a lot of extra effort in their part.
All work was completed without issues.
Great communication.
They also did a small job replacing a bunch of sconces, I was as happy with the service on the small job as I was on the big job.
Will be using them again this week.

As an Architect and homeowner I have relied on Sesco Electrical for years.
I recently had them install Solar Panels on the roof of my home. The job was done expertly and the installation now offsets my usage including electric vehicle charging.
Peitsa and Greg are spot on managing all issues that come up in a 90 year old house.
Highly recommended!

They're good at communicating and get the job done quick. They installed a new breaker box for us and added additional outlets and lighting to our property. They also helped with troubleshooting before coming out which saved on some unnecessary visits.
