I hired Service Today Electricians, but our experience was horrendous. I will admit right up front that we should have gotten multiple quotes, and that was a huge mistake on our part. But there was a reason we didnt as you will read. We called for a quote to replace our Electrical Panel on June 7th. The sales people came out and checked the panel box and our outlets. They then reported that all of our outlets have readings that indicate they are all in a high fire hazard condition and they should be changed immediately. They then gave us a separate quote to replace just the Electrical Panel. They quoted us $7k just to replace the panel. I said no way and I was going to get another quote. Well, that resulted in the next 30 min of them telling us our house is in imminent danger of a fire from the Panel and that our Outlets could cause a fire at any time. I still said I was getting another quote, but by now my wife was extremely nervous and was not wanting to wait. The manager then said he was going to call the owner - Jeren Hamlin - and he put him on speaker phone. The owner told us he was currently at a house fire that was caused by an old Panel, and when he asked the manager the make of our Panel, the owner then said that was the SAME panel that just burnt down the house he is at! He said we need to get that Panel replaced ""Tonight - Tomorrow!"" Well that was all my wife needed to hear. So we signed the contract.
They installed the Panel the next day - June 9th. Why did I post ""Beware""? - 1. The Panel did not pass inspection by the City Inspector. In fact as of today July 26, it has still NOT PASSED! 2. They installed an Industrial Panel with no cover (which is why it failed). The Inspector said he has never seen an Industrial panel installed in a home. 3. They cut the ""Tag"" off of our Electrical Meter and shut the power off themselves. LCEC said no one is to shut the power off and remove that tag except LCEC! (The manager told us they do this ALL the time!) LCEC said there is a $250 fine for removing the tag and we the homeowner is responsible! 4. They NEVER pulled a permit! They came the next day to do the install, so they could get around waiting for a permit to be issued. Then they said it was an ""Oversight"" that a permit was not pulled. They finally pulled the permit on July 4th as a result of our complaint to their company. Companies cant get permits pulled and approved the same day! This was a SLICK move they use to get around the law. 5. The City Inspector, when we asked what the average cost to install a Panel was, said he has seen $2,500 - $3,000. 5. We then asked 2 other Electrical Contractors to give us a quote to replace our outlets that Service Today said were Fire Hazard waiting to happen, and after doing the same testing on them, BOTH companies said there was nothing wrong with them. They also both gave us an estimate of $2,500 - $3,000 for a price to replace a Panel.
Bottom line, for us, we got scammed and taken for a ride by this company. We found out this is a new owner (I dont know how new) that purchased this company. It is NOT the same company that has been in business in the past. I believe they have a coordinated, rehearsed script between the salesmen and the owner to present the fear of the house being in immediate danger of having a fire and then by calling the owner who is ""currently at a house fire cause by the exact same Panel"" as ours, helps to close the deal.

We had a tech out to the home to diagnose the pool lighting. He found that all three housings with wire needed to be replaced. We received a quote and accepted . We were told he would be back in a few days to install the new lighting. We didn't hear back from the tech for about a week. When we did hear from him he apologized and said he has been sick and would send another tech to do the job. Again, we reached out after a couple more weeks and still heard nothing. Today we finally heard back from some guy named Jeff and he told us that they can not do the job for that price. He did not offer a solution or an updated cost. For this reason I would not recommend using this company for any reason.

We attempted to discuss our concerns. Jeff was only concerned about how they will not make any money on this job and had no interest in a solution. The estimate was accepted and job was scheduled for the following week. How was it decided after 3 weeks of silence that you won't do the job because you won't make any money? That's pretty sketchy!

The technician was supposed to be here between 9 and 11am to run a line from my electric panel to my pool heater. He showed up at 11:30, took a couple of photos, and looked in my attic (from the access ladder). Then he quoted me a 4500.00+ charge for the job. Needless to say i sent him on his way. However. I was charged a 99.00 ""service fee"" for what was basically an outrageous estimate that took 10 minutes of his time! Huge rip off! Stay away from this company!

Unfortunately have to give this company a one star, exhausting dealing with the Operational Manager that refused to honor a VA 15% discount coupon I shared with them from their website or other valid coupons from their website . I just gave in and paid, so frustrating. Grateful for quick service following Hurricane IAN, however , the estimate for a new electrical box at 12,000 is not in our budget. Way way over priced - Paid for the consult and service call after going back and forth one too many times with a stubborn Operational Manager that said I never showed them the coupon . I am really !?! He offered $20 off ? So much for a Company supporting Veterans. I am looking elsewhere .

It is so hard to leave a review for the total experience.

When I first called I told them I was looking for an estimate for a new electrical box, home surge protector, a new 220 line etc. I told them my concern was my circuit breakers were failing and it was effecting my AC performance.

The first person who showed up was an AC person who was there to make sure the AC was working. I told him I don't want any work done on my AC and was looking for an estimate on electrical because the circuit to the ac was going bad. But that there was nothing wrong with the unit. He told me his boss wanted him to look to make sure. I said if he wanted to look that's fine but I didn't want any work to be done. The guy looked at the outside unit and took off the panel to the wiring. Then went to the attic to the air exchange. While he was up there the AC stopped working. He then came down and went to his truck and got tools. I stopped him and asked what he was doing. He told me the AC doesn't work and he was going to fix it. I said it worked just fine before you got here. He repeated that it was broken and he was going to fix it. I said no your not. Your going back up there and putting back whatever you undid and and you are going to give me an estimate for what you think is wrong. The guy went up to the attic and did something then went outside and put the panel back on and snuck out the side gate without saying anything..... and our AC was not running. I got an email about 1/2 hr later with an estimate for $1300 to replace a wire going from the unit upstairs to the unit outside.
I called my regular AC people who came out and simply plugged the wire back in and told me the wire was fine there was nothing wrong. Two days later we had a waterfall pouring down the middle of our garage! When our regular AC people came back, they found he had disconnected the float switch to the AC!!! If we hadn't caught the waterfall we would have had thousands of dollars in damages!!!


Now on to the electrical work. The electrical team was absolutely fantastic!!!! When they first started doing the work they found issues that come with an older home. Rather than leave it and just do what they were told, they showed me everything that was going on, let me ask all my questions, and were so patient with me! When I needed advise from my electrician dad who lives in MN they spoke with him to tell him what I didn't understand and they helped me make a smart choice for my home.
They also were so courteous and cleaned up after themselves. And they did a great job and I was so impressed!

So.... Bottom line....
The AC team... 0 stars.... Scammer alert!!!
The electrical team.... 5 stars... they are good people who knew what they were doing and were great to work with!!
