Shannon W.Highly recommend ! Adrian C and Matthew S did amazing job! They worked almost the whole day to change my water heater and cleaned up after wards . They are easy to communicate and very helpful. The manager Richard G helped me to make sure give me the best Price! Will use them again in the future
Hana R.They overcharged me over 20,000. The original project was supposed to cost 30,000 because of the expensive machines and such, but after inspection they just installed a sleeve which cost no more then 10,000 for installation and product. But they still decided to charge me for the cement cutters, bobcats, hill excavation etc. which never happened.I had an itemized bill for the first couple estimates which showed all of the machinery that would've been used (which wasn't) and that was 30,000 but they told me after the camera inspection I would just need the sleeve installed and that would be cheaper, yet the price stayed the same and still has. When I made injuries about the price and itemized bill they told me I would get it in two weeks, two weeks goes by and they tell me they can no longer give it to me and I have a contract so I have to pay the 30,000. I have been trying to resolve this. I do not have 30,000 to pay for a plumbing job that should've cost 10,000 at most anywhere else. The loan they gave me to cover these cost started at 0% for two years and then was supposed to go to 14% but after a year it became 20% with no explanation. Avoid business with these people at all cost it's a scam. That also knocked down my fence and barely did any work. I never received the video to confirm the work done, and I was supposed to be paying for installation of 53ft of 4inch fiberglass liner (that was the only thing actually done) and ended up paying for something that was never done. I do not understand how this business can still operate.
Merek C.The following will read more like a reddit post and will require some disclaimers before I begin. Let's begin with the basics...
Last week, during the massive heat wave, our AC broke down. Call it an irrational purchase or an essential purchase. Getting the AC fixed was top priority on our list. A service technician came out the next day to assess the situation.
The Diagnosis: A broken motor in the condenser and a definite leak in the system.
The total: 599 for the motor and replacement and 1500 for a leak test. Given that the leak was sold to me as a definite issue and that I could use my warranty to get the leak source addressed, and that AC was, from my perspective a necessity, I said yes. The technician added some refrigerant to get us through the weekend for a Monday leak test which would include adding refrigerant, making sure it is pressurized properly, and that the unit would not freeze up.
Total cost: $2099. Which I paid for on the spot
The bad: After three straight days of cancelations on my leak test, service lion finally sent a technician to come out and assess the situation. Three extra days of worrying if the coolant that was added would hold us over that was only supposed to last us for two days...but I digress.
The Really Bad: After arriving for the leak test a new technician explains that to isolate the leak he would have to isolate the systemt at the evaporator and at the condenser unit. However, when he finds out the evaporator unit is in the attic, suddenly the leak test can be done entirely from the outside unit? And then...after having collected my money, the conclusion is that THERE IS NO LEAK in the system. The explanation is that all I needed was to have my ac unit recharged. After showing me that the pressure was now at an acceptable level and that the temperature was above freezing temperatures, this was all he could do and went on his way.
The conclusion: So now I'm down 2099 dollars and basically feel like there's a good chance there is still a leak in my system. I also feel like an idiot for paying so much money on the spot and it did not help that while I was signing the contract, there was a group text that was celebrating how my service technician just made a 2100 dollar sale as I used his phone to sign my contract...so big loser on my end. After calling service lion they offered a 300 dollar reimbursement for the trouble which now puts me at 1800. They also promised that they would come out to do a pressure test to ensure that there is not a leak in the system in the coming weeks and that they would take responsibility for any issues if it turns out a leak actually exists. So, an extra star for that.
The reason for this post is to have documented my experience but also for others to know to not be a fool like me and not do your research first. There is a certain amount of trust you have to place in a company that they are being honest and will do what they promise. From.my experience...I was played for the fool
I previously had good experience with them but during an emergency with the unit that cools our server room, everything has changed. I understand that during this extreme heat every AC repair company is super busy. I called on a Sunday and was told the earliest a tech could get out was Wednesday. Again understanding that they were very busy I understood the delay and wait until Wednesday. Its important to note the AC unit that was down was installed by this company less than two years ago and two weeks prior we had another failure which was repaired but no has me concerned they never actually fixed the real problem, so I wanted to make sure the same company serviced the issue for warranty. Wednesday the technician just never showed up. I received apologies and was told a tech would be out Thursday which he did. Unfortunately the tech that showed up was not trained or certified to do the required coolant leak repair so we were left again without a working unit and promises for a tech on Friday. Friday came and went and despite multiple calls and being given the run around the tech never showed. After expressing my frustration they sent the same tech who was not certified to add freon knowing it would leak out. By Saturday the freon had leaked out completely and the unit was not cooling again. I reached out first thing Monday to find out when a tech would be out and was told 2-5pm. How are we not first on the schedule. Despite several successful transactions previously Service Lion failed spectacularly when we need them most. I would highly recommend AVOIDING Service Lion for you AC repair needs.
Alex F.AVOID BY All COST
If you do speak with service lion. You might have the pleasure of talking with Tim (if that's even his real name since the company was once called Excalibur). I believe he is the owner. He will assure you he's an engineer by trade and is not a salesmen. Yet he's the one on the phone selling you. He will also make you feel comfortable giving you an AAA, or living with a nurse, or elderly discount. Tell you he's minimized all margin. Sales pitch 101. Don't trust in Tim. He will rip you off. He will upsell and make you believe your entire system is faulty, out of date, or illegal. I spent 12k with Tim on his sales pitch. Our system works worse than our prior system that was running and we can't seem to get rid of Tim now to fix it. I also think he resents us cause he still has to deal with it. He also blames us like we are the problem. He included a smart thermostat for free as part of the upsell, but when confronted about system failure blamed the smart system and said that's why he doesn't use that as his own home. Well then why did the engineer at trade give us that system instead of beneficial advice or service. He's a used cars sales at its fullest. We will report to the Better Business Bureau. If you can relate to my review. Please report as well. This is disgusting what they will sell you and the business they conduct. Don't let them fool you and don't let them make you feel like the problem after they happily took your money. The biggest frustration is I have pets, and an insufficient system could cause them harm if I'm not home. Thanks service LION.
They installed two new pumps and two new floaters
except they did not..
We had to hire a different company to evaluate and prove our point.
They refused to return our old pumps which we demanded.
They did not have the 'serial numbers' of the new supposed pumps installed.
Service Lion has very high prices. I was charged $1900 for outside and evap coil cleaning with chemicals. It took a couple hours and no parts were replaced.
Several of my electrical outlets stopped working. Danny came the next day (it would have been the same day, but I needed 'tomorrow' for my personal scheduling). I thought circuit breaker, but he quickly zeroed in on a worn outlet (the little clamp that held daisy-chained wires had lost its whatsy and the wire fell loose).
Danny had it fixed quickly and two more outlets downstream. Installed a GFCI outlet at no extra cost. Noted that the fridge outlet was in a non-original box (because of a kitchen remodel three years ago, the fridge was repositioned) and checked the old box (where another wire had come loose from the wire nut).
All told, Danny worked quickly, thoroughly, and [professionally.
Service Lion was a bit pricy for the service provided (even with the thrown in GFCI outlet and extra work behind the fridge, but I cannot fault Danny for that.
Pete T.BEWARE! They say on the phone they use carefully vetted and drug tested technicians but ours ripped us off for $250 and they did nothing. A simple faucet repair estimate was $800 to $1200, so when I said I was going to get a second opinion the tech offered to do it on his own time on the weekend for $480. I gave him $250 for parts and he never showed up. That's the kind of people they employ. You have been warned.
Wilson G.Too expensive service. They don't troubleshoot but replace the entire unit even if the issue is just lighting up the pilot light of water heater. Even for connecting the pipe that breaks will cost you too much. The membership that they sell is only good for pipe snake service. In fairness, crew is courteous but this will cost you fortune
