Since 1972, Kevin Comerford and his family have been addressing the heating and air conditioning requirements of homeowners in Northern California.
Kevin completed his studies at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, graduating in 1994.
Upon finishing school, he returned to help in his parents' heating and air conditioning business.
After 25 years of ownership, his parents sold the business to a large corporation in Dallas, TX.
He spent six years with that corporation before choosing to exit the corporate world and create a family-oriented, client-focused business similar to his parents' in 1972.
Thus, he founded Service Champions in 2002.
With these core values, Kevin's business has flourished, now employing over 200 team members and celebrating 18 years of service.
Today, Service Champions caters to homeowners across the San Francisco Bay Area (East Bay), South Bay, and Sacramento.

Shakhash serviced our furnace this afternoon and did a fantastic job serving us having gone way over the top. He was not only polite and respectful but I could not recommend him highly enough. i look forward to seeing him again when it's time for him to look at our air conditioning system.

I gave them a great review a few years back. They seem to have really taken a dive since then. Left hand no longer knows what the right hand is doing.
Salesman came out in December 2021. We talked price for installation of new ducts, double-checked on the monthly payment and, satisfied, we agreed to the purchase.
Salesman also said this needs to be signed before the year is over to guarantee those rates.
Fine. Just send us the contract.
Days go by, can't reach him. Leave voicemails and emails. It's getting to the end of the year. Finally, with December almost complete, the Salesman sends us the contract.
Huh. The monthly payment is a lot higher than what he quoted.
So we call him again. He gets back with us. Oh, don't worry about that. It's just the way Service Champions writes out their numbers. Everything will be in order with the final contract.
So we tell him and Service Champions that we'll wait for the final contract with the correct monthly payment, and if it goes past December and our guaranteed rates expire, no problem, we'll just take our business elsewhere.
The correct contract came within 24 hours.
The service people, those who took out the asbestos and installed the ducts, were great (except for the fact that the asbestos crew never told us about the paint they used to touch-up some places their tape had peeled off, like the doorway I leaned against after they left).
The sales communication was piss poor.
Just when we thought everything was complete I get a call from a company in Southern Cal that wants me to schedule an appointment for them to inspect the work.
Huh?
I call Service Champions. They say that there will be 2 inspections: one to make sure the ducts work and the other will be done by the County inspector to make sure the ducts were installed according to the correct building codes.
Okay, I say. But shouldn't you have told us that?
Oh, we're sorry for the communication problem, they replied. If you'd like, we can coordinate everything for you.
Great. So a few hours later my wife called the same Service Champions phone number I called, and she told them that she's ready to have Service Champions schedule both inspection appointments.
Oh, you'll have to do that yourself, they said.
I guess I'm done with them.

It's hard to over-exaggerate the courtesy and professionalism of the technicians and supervisors that have serviced our home the past months with the installation of a new condenser and cooling coil unit. Each person that we've dealt with has been incredible, patiently and thoroughly explaining everything they observed, addressing our concerns, and doing everything else in between with a friendly attitude. If you have any second thoughts about the home service company you're currently using, you need to switch right now to these guys.

I did my research, got several quotes and this company was my choice! Glad I did. Great staff, very friendly and great work. Quality Products and quality service!

I have a brand new communicating system from Lennox. It is complicated, but it's very efficient and has excellent air quality. Service Champions installed and maintains it.
With both an install and routine maintenance, I need to know that the company is big enough and reliable enough to make sure that my system is working properly. Put simply, they will continue to come back until the system is working effectively.
I've worked with several HVAC technicians from Service Champions, and consider them all quite good. What sets the company apart is how they work together to diagnose difficult problems. This is why you should choose them too.

David D. Was on time very patient with my questions and even helped fix my filter issue.

I have used Service Champions in our prior house and have been pleased enough to continue with them. Today's experience went above and beyond any service technician I have had. Justin Starr was on time and extremely helpful. He took the time to explain what he was doing and what might be needed to be done in the future. I never felt like he was rushing to get through and he patiently answered my questions. He was friendly and knowledgeable and so helpful. I feel like I can't give him enough stars! While I hope I won't need to have my unit serviced again for awhile, I hope if I do, that I can have Jason come again. Kudos to Service Champions for having such an accomplished young man working for them.

Service Champions is incredible, the best customer experience I've had as long as I can remember. We have used them for many years for maintenance, and they replaced our old furnace a couple of years ago.
I am in the process of selling my house, and discovered that the heat wasn't working a day before a group of real estate agents were going to tour the house. I was on the east coast when this happened. I called Service Champions right away. Sam Silva was able to come in the afternoon, and figured out the issue with the furnace. He had to get some replacement parts, and stayed late to make sure it was working. But when we spoke on the phone, he told me that he heard some gurgling sounds, and wasn't confident that the whole problem was resolved. I was very stressed because I needed the house to have heat when the agents arrived at 11 am the next morning. Sam called me at 9 am to say that he could go back to the house and, after conferring with colleagues, he knew how to solve the problem. Sam was able to finish fixing it about 30 minutes before the agents arrived. Amazing! I do realize that we got lucky with the timing of the appointments we were able to get, but I totally appreciate that Sam kept in close communication with me through the entire process, and was dedicated to helping resolve the problem. Thank you, Sam! I wish there was a Service Champions where my new house is located....

I used Service Champions last year when my furnace quit working and was very displeased. They only seemed interested in selling me a new furnace and the service prices seemed off even given the $150-200 an hour most AC / heating placings seem to charge.
When I looked at furnace the inducer fan would turn on, the gas would turn on, but the ignitor would not light off the gas so it would turn back off. If manually lit it would function normally ( blower fan would come on and heat the house). I had a go at trying to figure out what was wrong with but only succeeded in breaking the ignitor(they are very fragile). When I called Service Champions I tried to give them the part number for the ignitor so they could make sure to bring that at least, but the person that scheduled the appointment cut me off and snidely informed me that he would be sending a truck fully stocked with replacement parts.
My furnace was in the garage at the house that we had at the time. I was waiting for the technician with the garage door open. As he was walking into the garage while still 20 feet away from my heater he starts telling me that I should not waste any money on my old furnace and just get a new one. I declined, and told him about the issues. When I showed him the broken ignitor he says ""Oh I don't have one of those on my truck"" which made me rather mad given the snotty assurances I had been given about a ""fully stocked truck"". He told me the cost to replace was $300. The ignitor could be purchased for $20-40 retail and it took no more than 10 minutes to replace and I had already payed $80 for him to show up so that seemed very unreasonable.
He then tried to tell me that the blower fan was bad with out really doing anything, and said it would cost $1000 to replace. I told hime that I did not agree given that it had been working after this issue started. The $1000 on this seemed reasonable though as it is a large expensive looking part that was located above head level with bad access. He then jumpered the blower fan and lo and behold it came on. I don't know if the guy was incompetent or dishonest but given what I told him it was highly unlikely that the blower fan was bad given that it is the last thing to come on and earlier steps were not met that made it impossible for that to turn on.
So he fiddles with it for a bit and then says that inducer fan was bad. I asked how much to fix that and he comes up with the same $1000 price. I had happened to have already looked up the price for inducer fan, it was $150. The inducer fan is a small part easily picked up in one hand and on my furnace is at waist level with easy access. There were 6 bolts and one electrical connector. I expect that a supervised 10 year old could easily swap out this part in under 30 minutes. If you billed 1 hour at $200 and had a 100% mark up on the parts that would still only be $500. At this point I sent him away.
I bought the fan and did it my self easily. The inducer fan did fix it, but he would have done the blower fan first and charged a gang of money to do both.

Can't or won't? They came out to give me an estimate on replacing my hulking, 1920s furnace. The estimator said flat-out that they could not remove the old furnace. I've gotten 2 more quotes that INCLUDE removing the old furnace. They'll have to cut it up -- I expected that -- but they can and will remove it. Needless to say, I'm not going with Service Champions.
