One word: Slick. The Service Champions rep came to our home and proceeded to tell us how great their company is. When he finally got around to talking about how much it would cost to repair our A/C, we were paralyzed by an overabundance of information. His quote (7K) stunned us! He brought the price down 400 dollars and acted like we were getting a deal. No, this was a ripoff! After he left we called around and found out that we could get the SAME JOB performed for a little over 3K. Yes, 3 K not 7! Today the ""honest"" A/C repair man showed up and checked out our system, He found that ALL it needed was a new capacitor. So, to repair the A/C it ended up costing us a grand total of 265 bucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quite a drop from 7,000 dollars! Service Champions is like smoke and mirrors. They tell you over and over again about all the added perks you will receive. What they leave out is that the customer will be triple charged for what is really a bunch of bull crap. Please be careful when dealing with these smooth operators.

Hottest day of the year and our a/c went out. Kind of expecting it as our units were 28 years old. Called and was told would be put on a waiting list for a call back, was called back immediately and the next afternoon had an appointment with NIck B. After inspecting our units, it was determined it was a fuse, but due to the age of everything, we decided to go with a new system. The next day everyone showed up to start work, originally told it would be 2 days, they had an extra crew from somewhere else so midday told me that they could finish by 7:30pm that night. Everyone was very polite and good at their job, and sure enough, by 7:30 they were done! We had also opted for added insulation, the company they use Alcal was superb. Kept the rooms nice and neat, did a great job, and are super nice guys. I love my a/c and am very pleased with the whole experience! And a big shout out to Nick B., you are awesome!

Upon posting the review, SC called to see what could be done to have it removed. Alicia was very polite on the phone and assured me the refund was being processed and mailed within 10 days.

I will not remove this review because our experience should be public knowledge. Be it the company policy or just bad decisions by the technicians, illegal practices happened and they vandalized our unit to make a sale.

It would appear that another reviewer had a very similar experience in very recent history since another 1star review was posted 8 days ago.

We are usually very happy with their service, however after we got our yearly service, our A/C was not working even though it was perfectly fine before Richard tinkered with it. Richard stated it needed a part. We rescheduled after having no A/C on a 109 degree day, Steven stated that a wire was not re-hooked after the last service, I did inform him that our A/C was just fine before the first visit. Thanks to his honesty!

Ian was very helpful and did a great job explaining and showing me what was going on with my system. He walked me through everything I needed to made a decision about a new system.

Requested SC to inspect an underperforming AC system. Was ultimately told by their tech - after an on-time, thorough 60+ minute inspection - that my AC compressor is old and shot while bad mouthing the work of a previous service company (red flag #1) and my furnace was showing alarming signs of wear and should be replaced as well.

I was told the type of freon my older AC unit used was horribly hard to find and extremely expensive, should it be found. Also, the furnace was so old that a carbon monoxide leak should be a possible concern.

Tech returned a few hours later when my wife arrived back from work in an attempt to sell us new systems ranging from $11 - 15K. This is where the ""selling"" began. When told that we needed to discuss at length such a large expenditure, then tech said he would just step outside for a while so we could talk about our decision. Sorry, I don't get pressed into making such an expensive decision by a tech-turned-salesperson (red flag #2).

Decided to get several other quotes and opinions. A few weeks later, another AC company did confirm my AC and furnace were indeed older, but not worthless. A tune-up service on each unit and some minor repairs got my system cleaned and purring along for roughly $700.00. Also, the owner of this service company had a canister of the ""hard-to-find"" freon at-the-ready in his truck; it was a bit more expensive, but certainly not out-of-reach (red flag #3 for SC).

Extremely glad not to have given my business to Service Champions. I will never do business with SC moving forward.

I would caution all about using them. I had them come out to service my two ACs in late May 2015. The technician stated that the condensers needed to be cleaned ($119x2) and one of the fans replaced since it was leaking oil ($757). Since I had a Home Warranty Plan I called that company and they sent out their own AC specialist. It turned out that the condensers did not need cleaning and the fan was just ok. In any event, I was told that the cost to replace the fan (labor and materials) was substantially lower than quoted by Service Champion.

Furthermore, the technician from Service Champion had to look at the two furnaces in the attic. Access to the attic is via a pull-down ladder in the garage. A few days after SC left, I had another company come in to advise on replacement of a hot water tank with a tankless system. That person had great difficulty pulling down the ladder and hoisting it up again since the brackets on either side of the ladder had been bent, preventing the ladder from folding. The last person to use the ladder before this was the SC technician and he somehow damaged the ladder.

As a result of all of these, I cancelled the cleaning and monthly service plan I had signed up for. I would NEVER, EVER use Service Champion again!

This is definitely a bait-and-switch company. I saw they have $78 A/C tune-up on a flyer ad and called them up. The Service Champions guys came in and the only things they are interested is trying to find major problems on your devices. What he did was he turned up my A/C to around 80 degrees and told me that my A/C unit was not running. He took same pictures of the unit board and told me the wire was sorted and it needed to be replaced. So, guess how much it cost to replace it. He quoted me $2000! Can you believe that? I knew he was lying because I had just turned on the A/C about a few weeks ago (the weather was nice in the past few weeks). So, I went ahead and fix the thermostat and within a few seconds the cold air kicked in. I asked that Service Champions guy wasn't that is cold air, and he even dared to say that it wasn't. We stand in the house for 15 to 20 minutes and he kept pressure selling and wanted me to buy their service plan. He even threatened that once he stepped outside the house, the price will increase you no longer get then $2000 repair price! I knew this is totally a scam! After 20 minutes standing there, and he knew that the cold air was too cold for him to handle and he admitted that the A/C was working now and it was because he messed with the board just now and it started to work.

At the end, I wasted $78 dollars to get them come over and do nothing. He didn't even clean or do anything to tune up my unit. His reason was the A/C was broken and he wasn't able to do anything, which was a big lie.

My advice to you all: NEVER EVER CALL this for any service. They are well-trained timeshares-liked salesperson with no intention to make an honest repair of your units

Had the special A/C tune up done this week. No cleaning was done to my knowledge. It was supposedly found that we needed a new furnace due to heat exchanger cracks. Also that the condensing unit outside needed some work or be replaced. The tech was professional but also a salesman. Got a second opinion on the furnace etc. and yes some of the duct needs some attention in the garage and right under the furnace, but that was as far as he got ductwork wise. The tech didn't bother to mention that the heat exchanger if cracked, has a warranty that is still factory covered. Hmm . Would recommend always getting a second opinion for any major work.

I contacted Service Champions to schedule an appointment to have a tune-up done on our air conditioner, so we could be worry free when the heat arrives! I was truly impressed with the courteous response I received from scheduling my appointment to when our service tech, Pedro Cordova showed up today. Pedro was polite, respectful and most of all very knowledgeable regarding his field! It was truly a pleasant experience and I would definitely recommend Pedro to our family and friends! I wish him all the best in his career! Thank you again Pedro......
