Founded in 1926 by Dan Searle, who moved to Monterey from Santa Cruz to work in the canneries and new homes in Pebble Beach and the surrounding area. In 1973, Dan Searle Jr. took over the management of the business, and he continues to lead it today. At present, Dan's son Christopher plays an active role in the company, working on-site and in the office on new projects and estimates.

With more than 52 years in the electrical field, Dan Searle Jr. began as an apprentice, progressed to journeyman electrician, and has owned Searle Electric since 1973.

Christopher Searle joined the business in 2003.

After the crazy winds and storms of mid February, my 90-year old friend in Pebble Beach was amongst hundreds without power for 5 days. The saturated ground coupled with winds wreaked havoc on the community. My friend had a Monterey Pine fall across her driveway, severing the power lines to her house. Late on Saturday, PG&E informed us that an electrician was needed to repair the power receptacle on the roof. It was pretty torn up. Chris Searle was our angel to the rescue early on Sunday morning. He made the repairs and coordinated with PG&E, letting them know the house was ready for reconnection. We are forever grateful to Chris and his company, and wouldn't think of using another electrician when in need.

Even in a house of kids and a loud dog he stayed calm and got it all done fast. We really appreciated it, since the main bedroom was freezing at night. It is now very warm. I have worked with Searle Electric twice. The first time was challenging. I was happy with the work but unhappy with dealings with the management.
I just had Searle come back for a second time. This time was much different. The work was very thorough and all interactions with the owner and the person who did the work were very good. My power had gone out -- and Dan, the owner sent someone out that day -- so that I could get my refrigerator turned back on. I had more work than needed but that was due to my mistake, not theirs. I recommend Searles highly.I intend to call on them whenever I need work in the future.

I'm so surprised that there aren't more GREAT reviews for this business!

We recently had occasion to call around for some quotes on a ""honey-do list"" of electrical needs - installing two ceiling fans, installing some motion-sensor lights, retrofitting some old 2 prong (grounded) outlets to 3 prong, etc.

First, I got a written quote from another company, which came in at $2200! i was totally blown away by that quote, as I expected maybe $800 or so for the level of work we wanted done.

So I then called Searle Electric, and spoke with Dan, the owner. He asked me what all we wanted done, so I read him off our list - he gave me an ""over the phone"" estimate of $400 to $500. Uh, wow, now THERE is a difference, huh? I asked him if he wanted to come out and take a look at the job, like the first guy did, and he said, no, he was confident that the work would fall into that range.

First out was George, who quietly got busy and with confidence and expertise, accomplished more in a couple hours than I expected. Then James came by too, and did a few of the other jobs on the list.

Both men were courteous, personable, and definitely know their business!

When the final tally came in - $400! Wow. How refreshing.

Also Michaela (and I hope I'm spelling that correctly) holds down the fort at the office and is wonderful about calling to check how things are going, follows up when she says she will, and is just generally a nice person to talk to.

You can rest assured that any future needs for electrical work will be given immediately to Searle Electric! We couldn't be more pleased.

Awful customer service!! I made my first appointment and it was never recorded so I when I called 45 minutes after they were supposed to show up the receptionist had no idea what I was talking about. For the follow up appointment I called 15 minutes after they were supposed to be at the house and the owner said that the electrician had to go pick up the supplies and that he would be there in 30-40 minutes... a full hour after the appointment time. If you appreciate your time don't call Searle!
