Sean installed a subpanel in my garage (the main panel was on the opposite corner of the house), and an outlet for an EV.

Sean's prices were reasonable, and the work was top notch.

I purchased my home recently, and saw that the prior owner had some electrical work done by Sean more than 8 years ago. Not knowing a lot about electrical work, I reached Sean for some guidance on what was done. He was kind enough to call me back after researching his files and took the time to explain the work done on that project. Thank you, Sean!

We were getting a new roof put on our Eichler and decided to do some electrical upgrade/new recessed lighting while we were at it. Another electrician told us it couldn't be done. We called Sean and he said he could do it all, and he did. He was fast, clean, and meticulous, and he REALLY knows his Eichlers. He took care of all the permits. I would absolutely hire him again. I am super happy with the work.

To respond to Cheryl, I am not using my real name as I have no trust in Smith Electric. If warranty is needed, I want to protect it as i know they will more likely not come knowing how I wrote about my experience. But I feel obliged to write it to help the community making their own choice on their contractor.
So it is a legitimate review.
I suggest that you start to look at how you treat your customers versus accusing them of wrong review.

We have used Sean on probably a dozen jobs because we tackle small projects over the course of time. It all started in an Eicher in 2006 and still ongoing when we moved to a standard home.

I would characterize his approach as honest, safe, and he will present OPTIONS, which is important for any remodel. Recently, we even had him come out to assess the feasibility of a complete electrical rework of a 100 year old, and while the estimates were high, we had a very frank discussion about the caveats, the potential pitfalls that may raise the scope of work when the patient was opened up. While I don't always understand Sean's terminology, he's usually (with a funny grunt) very willing to impart his knowledge.

In regards to some earlier comment about ""chasing payment"", let's not forget that this is a small business so liquidity is always important. There's never been a case where Sean (or Cheryl) has asked for payment BEFORE a job is complete. I think it's completely fair to hear from them even the same day when payment is due.

I have over the years introduced Sean to realtors, neighbors etc and they've given a thumbs up for the OUTCOME of the job as well. Oh, you'd better enjoy some singing and happy whistling while him and his assistant are working....or general bickering. It's all part of putting some spirit into the job.

Sean and his crew were an absolute pleasure to work with. The work was excellent and finished on time and price was as quoted. I would highly recommend Sean Smith Electric for any electrical work you might need. So glad we used them and will gladly recommend them to all our friends

We hired Sean to do a panel upgrade and a kitchen remodel related electrical work for us. He routinely wouldn't show up when he said he would or he would blow us off because he had other projects to do. He asked us to pay him early. He caused delay and confusion with our other contractors. They failed the rough-in inspection. He and his wife were rude, dismissive of our concerns, ordered the other contractors around and left jobs half done. Sometimes he came back to finish when he felt like it. Sometimes he wouldn't, insisting that it wasn't his job. Some of this would have been fine, but all together it added up to a thoroughly disappointing experience.

And to top it all off, they are desperate to be paid immediately. They sent me an invoice over email and when they didn't receive payment within a week (one week!) they sent me a super nasty email threatening to put a lien on our house! This was particularly insulting since I was understanding and supportive when they asked to be paid early (they said they made a mistake on the contract). A few weeks later, they are threatening me with liens! I am furious and frustrated and wish I'd never hired them.

Learn from my mistake - run away from this company and never look back!

Smith Electric did all of the electrical work in the two-phase whole-house remodel of our Eichler home. New panel, sub-panel, new wiring for outlets, new lighting, wiring for all appliances and a new fireplace insert, power receptacle in the floor (cement slab), wire smoke alarms, wiring as needed cut into our foam roof, etc. Sean is known as an Eichler specialist for good reason. When the roofer came to re-foam the roof after Sean and Tyler cut trenches in it for all the new wiring, the roofer commented to me that he had never seen a better result in that type of work (and he told me some horror stories from electricians who didn't know what they were doing). Not only is the electrical work done well, Sean and Cheryl also provided itemized bids and updated them with any changes that I wanted, so I never wondered what the final bill would be. Cheryl was great about billing questions. We carried out our first phase of remodeling in early 2014 and Sean knew that we intended to start our second phase of remodeling at the end of 2014. He called us a couple of times between May and November just to check in on our plans so that he could try to be available around the time we needed him. He has plenty of work, so I was very impressed that he would do this for us. Sean and Tyler were very competent, left the work area clean, and were great to have around.

Sean came to do some wiring at home.
not sure how to start the review...
He did all tasks in the quote but most have to be redone as it was not done correctly the first time. Some on my own expenses as he refused to admit he did it wrong.
He made extra holes in my walls that were not necessarily.
He plays by the book and does not have any flexibility... unless you pay him more. So really pay attention to all the details on the quotation.
He is more concerned by collecting money rather than finishing the job on time.
Also he whistled when working that annoyed all the neighborhood as he is not a good whistler at all.

Sean has always treated us right and does really great work. He is a nice guy and clearly has lots of experience in electrical work and good customer service, as well as documenting everything he fixes and how he fixes it. This to me is a sign of a good contractor and not a scam artist.

Sean has made our home a lot safer and is always open to help us out with whatever new ideas we come up with.

Definitely a great asset to have in our home improvement rolodex!
