Hands down the worst contractor I've (attempted to) work with.

I don't normally leave reviews unless they're pretty good experiences but this one is worth writing.

I had a window setup with them from 12-2 to take a look at a circuit that stopped working in my house. I was at home but needed to step out and wanted to make sure I wasn't going to be gone when they came by. I called to see if they'd be here in 5 minutes or an hour and the guy on the phone (not particularly friendly) told me he'd contact the electrician and give me a call back.

2 pm rolls around, the window is up, I call him back and ask what's going on and that I didn't get a phone call from them and I'm still waiting around. He said that it was my choice to wait around so that's my fault and not his (weird response). He said the guy was supposed to call me, he was going to reach out and find out what happened and give me a call back.

It's now 5 pm. I call them and let them know they don't need to bother, since they didn't come by at all and the dude doesn't respond back, no explanation, no apology, just hangs up!

Can't discourage using these guys enough. I understand things happen, jobs take longer than expected, but as someone who's trying to get service (and got an appointment window), I expect them to communicate when things go up or at least give me updates. I would also expect them to be apologetic if they're wasting someone's time. I got none of that.

Find anyone else. They may be good at their job, this could even be an outlier and this is a rarity. But based on my experience, I would say if you were debating between them and someone else, work with someone else.

I have used Schaefer Electric several times over the last 10 years to help with electrical problems at my home.

My office was recently re-decorated which required bringing in 12 overhead lights. The Schaefer crew did a fantastic job, however when the job was finished, I realized that the lights would do a better job if located in different spots.

Before I could express my second thoughts, Scott Schaefer told me that he was not happy with the lights placement. His crew then returned and moved the lights to the new locations. Someone else might have just said good-enough and moved on, but Scott wanted to do it right.

I had an extreeeemely high (15ft) Chandelier installed by Schaefer. They did an excellent job at the install and were very neat and tidy, laying down tarps to make sure my floor was left in good condition. They had the right number of people to do the instal and I was impressed by the professionalism. I will use them again.

He is a local electrician, and has an excellent reputation in the community. His prices are premium, but his quality of service is also premium.

Schaefer Electric came highly recommended to me and now I know why! Upon moving into a new home I found three of four wall outlets, where the TV/cable box would be placed, didn't work - two of which were behind where the wall-mounted TV would go. No one wants to look at wires draping down the wall from a wall-mounted TV, especially me, so I called Scott Schaefer. Within two hours of my call, Neil and Sonny had my fully powered TV hanging from the wall with no wires in sight! These guys were quick, courteous and tidy, and I couldn't recommend them more!
