My parents house in Concord had a power outage. I called PG&E, after a long waiting on the phone, someone finally answered. The PG&E rep looked up the address, he said since no outage in the neighborhood, nothing he could do about it. Then I find S&B Electric from yelp.com, sent a text msg and owner responded right away. He asked a few questions and advised me that it's most likely PG&E's problem. I called PG&E again and told them what Steward had told me. PG&E finally sent a technician over and fixed the issue. My parents got power back without having to waste money.

We had 2 other electricians out and they couldn't figure out our issues. Half our house lost power. For 4 days ! Everything was checked , replaced. And still no power all electricians that cane were baffled. BUT. S&B figures it out !!!! Yay my power was back on and fixed !! Derek found the bad plug behind a fire wall in a furnace closet ! And found a few more that burned out from the first bad one. !! Great company. Will use them again !!

I apologize in advance, as this review is going to be lengthy. I just wanted to thank Stewart and his team tremendously for the work they performed at my home on Tuesday this week. My husband and I have an older home (built in the 60s). We have gone without central heating and ac for almost 10 years and decided we would like to move forward in upgrading. We were told that in order to do so, our electrical panel would need to be updated from 100 amps to 200. We had previously hired a man to replace the roof to our screen room last year. He said he also had electrical experience and could replace our panel with no problem. He said it's an easy job and shouldn't take more than a day or two. His ""one or two"" day job ended up a two week disaster with no end in sight. His work failed the city inspection twice. All the while, we were without PG&E, as our power had to be shut off during the work. We went 3 days with no power at all, and lost all the food in our fridge. Also, we lost the majority of the fish in our aquarium. At that point my husband bought a generator. It worked for everything but our dryer. I had to lug wet clothes to a laundromat and twice. For two weeks we were spending money to fill up the generator with gas twice a day, and I worried that if this guy couldn't pass inspection for our panel, was the generator hooked up safely? Then, the worker said he had to buy a new panel to make the correction to pass inspection, but the panel was ""on order"". This was last Monday. He said that the panel would be in on Wednesday. He promised he would come early and the work would be done mid-day. He assured us that everything would pass inspection. I'd made an appointment for the city inspector to come out. The work was not done, and the inspector came out to find nothing new. We were charged an additional $150 for this. The worker said that the panel hadn't arrived but would be in Friday. Friday he said that it didn't come, but ""definitely"" would be in Saturday. Saturday we waited all day with not a word from the guy. When my husband texted him, he claimed that he had been in pain with a toothache and could not come out. If that was so, he never bothered to say anything. By now, I was completely fed up and exhausted. I started looking up electricians on my phone. I saw many positive Yelp reviews for S&B Electric, so I asked my husband to give them a try. I wasn't sure how long it would be before we could see them, as Monday was a holiday. Stewart replied to my husband's call after only about 15-20 minutes. After a few questions and the request for some photos of the work that had been attempted already, he said he would get us on the calendar. He made an appointment for Tuesday morning. The crew showed up and finished everything in 5 hours. The inspection passed with flying colors, and our PG&E was finally restored. I can't say thank you enough for getting us through this fiasco. I will definitely recommend this company to my friends. **By the way, I still haven't seen that panel that was ""on order"".

Awesome!! Came out in a Saturday evening 7:30 pm to help with our power going out upstairs. Got the power back on, checked out all of our cord mess behind the TV and found out our TV blew, Xbox and cable box all blew out. Advised on some other things too, Kind friendly service!! The have a diagnostic fee of $185. They told me that upfront and told me that if it is a small job, the $185 gets applied to the repair or if it is a big job. half of the amount gets applied.

The panel GFCI breaker to our spa was tripping, which we needed fixed. They sent out an electrician who was working in the area to shut off the power at the spa. He found the breaker and feed to the spa was not the issue. The electrician was very nice, but said they cannot do anything more and recommended we call someone who specializes in hot tub repairs. I was not aware they would not trouble shoot the electrical in the spa. It took the electrician 5 - 10 minutes from arrival to do the test on the breaker, tell us they could not do anything more and leave.

They still charged the full $185 for the 5 to 10 minutes even though they could not fix it. I manage commercial construction and know the rates for electricians and the cost for that call. I was surprised they still charged the full amount even though it was such a short visit, they were not able to diagnose the issue and I still have to call out another repair service to get this fixed. I mentioned this to them on the phone before they ran the charge, but they said ""we are just that good""....

I would not recommend this electrician. I gave two stars instead of one, since they were responsive and made the appointment within a few days of the request.


Update: There was no diagnosis over the phone. We are located in Danville, not Dublin. The spa is only 3 years old, not an ""older model"" and I am very aware of what an electrician does, I just did not expect a $185 service call fee for a 5 to 10 minute visit.

I had purchased an old house couple of years ago and had consistent issues with my sub-panel tripping.After aweful experience with other contractors from yelp who never called back or contacted me back after 'few days' or were simply 'no shows', I was pleasantly surprised when stewart responded within 10 mins for my request for quote.A few photos of my panel and subpanel later I received a detailed quote.On the day of the job,stewart n his crew showed up on time.All 3 of them were really skilled,distributed work amongst themselves n breezed through the job in no time.We like many Indian households do not wear shoes inside the house so these guys even carried booties and put them on when they were indoors.The cleanup was through and their behaviour professional and respectful.I would do business with them again and definitely recommend S&B electrics for ur electric work.
