Awful and scammy, took advantage of my lack of knowledge with electrical issues. The problem was entirely due to Austin Energy's install of a smart meter, but before the ""diagnostic"" was even complete, I was told I would need a full replacement of everything for almost 8k. BEWARE. High pressure sales tactics. Had a feeling a manager at the office was directing the electricians to pump me for more money. Don't fall for their Men of God routine, they're not honest in the slightest.

A caution regarding an unscrupulous electrical company. I contracted with Salt Light & Electric to fix an issue with a circuit breaker that kept tripping. When the technician arrived, he offered to do a $589 diagnostic or he could do a $280 breaker replacement. He went hard for the expensive diagnostic stating that it would come with a free breaker if it was the problem. I opted to have the breaker changed, thinking that it was the problem. After an inspection revealed that the breaker wasn't faulty, I went ahead with the diagnostic. To my surprise at billing time, I was charged for both, even though the technician said the breaker wasn't faulty. Since I had to sign before ANY work was done, it NEVER occurred to me that I was being double charged. When I contacted the company, I was told that I had paid for the breaker because that is what I signed authorizing them to do. I discovered AFTER the fact that despite telling me there was nothing wrong with the breaker, it was replaced, consequently incurring the charge. Salt Light & Electric not only stood by that decision, but made it a point to say that I had signed to have the breaker replaced, even though their technician determined that it wasn't faulty. The end result is that the ""experts"" claim that I determined that a breaker was needed when, in fact, had I opted for the diagnostics, the very first thing they would have done is checked and/or changed the breaker.
Beware of these shady business practices. Even their customer service rep who called me for a follow up was dismissive, rude, and ONLY concerned that everything was ""by the book"", so if I wanted to be upset then so be it!
Steer clear of these folks! They are terrible! My next steps are BBB and social media.

Absolutely horrible experience and would not recommend to anyone. If I could give zero stars, I would. Called this company to come out and look at a breaker that keeps tripping. After a gimmicky sales pitch for their ""club pricing"" and two hours of this guy looking at my breaker panel, I was charged almost $400 and nothing was fixed. The best he could tell me was to move my deep freezer to a different outlet. Absolutely worthless and a waste of time and money.

I just felt robbed. $79 service fee and then $1000 estimate to just diagnose my problems of a simple doorbell check, ceiling fan check, and taking a look at a tripped circuit. Holy smokes! I told them they needed to go after they told me it would be at least $1000. $79 for them to tell me I need to pay $1000. Robbery

James was excellent, polite, and knowledgeable! He was able to install two very heavy antique sconces and a whole home surge protector. He offered flexible appointments and valued my time. I would absolutely hire this company again!

I work for a property management company, so my experience with Salt is predominantly with the Commercial Department. I absolutely would recommend Salt to anyone I know. Justin and Julio are great! They are always friendly and knowledgeable. Salt may not be the cheapest, but the pricing is fair and I always feel comfortable knowing it will done correctly. 100% recommend.

Such professional service. Aaron and his co-workers Buddy and Dallas were knowledegable, efficient, respectful and very friendly. They know and performed their jobs very well. Three days of work, parts always on hand, and two very pleased customers!

Had SALT electric come out to fix a lighting problem in our attic. Technician that came to the house was great and was able to identify the problem and fix it. The company apparently routinely does a 30 point home inspection when they come out for service where they go and identify potential problem areas (no charge for this on the invoice). While this can be seen as helpful, it's also a way to sell additional services. We had our entire house rewired 10 years ago by licensed electricians, so the number of items that were determined on our inspection as ""not in code"" seemed unusual. Our problem turned out to be a simple replacement of a light switch that had been invaded by ants. They had a $79 service fee which seems standard for the industry. My bill for replacement of a light switch including service fee was $371.00 (time spent on fixing the problem was minimal) which seems extremely excessive for the actual problem. Not sure if I had refused the ""30 point home inspection if price would have been any different but again there was no charge associated on the invoice. Rating related tp pricing.

BEWARE!! Reviews draw you in but wanted to let you know how this works. I called to get a bid. Can't give bids over the phone, guys must bid in the field with eye's on your job first. $79 trip fee just to get a price. I agreed. They show up and bid $1,100 to install four coach lights & 2 simple ceiling light fixtures. That's just labor. Of course we declined. This is at most a 1.5 to 2 hour job. I'm beyond shocked at this bid and grateful my wife declined the job.
To be be clear, they are very professional and nice people. I'm sure they'd install the fixtures properly. But that is price gouging in my opinion and I wanted to inform you so you know ahead of time that your paying $79 no matter what and be prepared for premium pricing.

Stay away from Salt Light & Electric! They wanted to charge me more than $6,000 for a new electric panel, which would not have solved my problem. Fortunately I found another honest electrician who discovered the problem was a lack of connection on the city's power side. Final cost to me $0 after Austin Electric replaced the connections on their end. Unfortunately, I had already paid Salt Electric more than $300 to check my power outlets on their first trip, which did nothing to resolve the problem. Salt's annual membership fee to obtain a lower price for services also is a huge red flag.
