Rudy is an excellent electrician. He has done numerous jobs for us, rewiring a garage, putting in new electric outlets, upgrading electrical wiring that was funky, and trouble shooting an old duplex in Del Mar. He is the best and I wish he had a twin who was a plumber! He is friendly, helpful, and explains everything in plain English to the electrically challenged. If you need a good electrician, hire him.

Looking at Rudy's reviews (all great), maybe I just had a bad experience. Maybe he was having a bad day. Or maybe he has paid/asked friends to post on Yelp. I don't know. This review solely pertains to what he charged and his professionalism. I contested his charge. He was defensive and confrontational about it. His basic point was that he has a lot of experience and therefore is in his right to charge more. I told him I spoke to another electrician who would've charged half what Rudy did (others with knowledge said I was overcharged as well). He asked how old the guy was. He was younger than Rudy. Rudy then said he's older, therefore more experienced and better. A curious argument in my opinion. I then asked if my electrician was 60 years old (Rudy is in his 50s according to him) if that would've changed his argument. He didn't respond. That's how the conversation went. We were on a call and he either then hung up or got disconnected. I don't know. I've never posted on Yelp before. I told Rudy during the call that the only thing I could do was post a bad review of him. He said to go for it. So, here I am following his wishes. Perhaps the mundane task he did for me was done with the ultimate class. I can't say. Everything seems to be fine so I'm not contesting his work. As I said before, this solely pertains to his fees and professionalism. In my mind, any electrician could have done what needed to be done. Perhaps Rudy is the go to guy for complex jobs. I can't say. But, in my opinion and based on my experience, if you're looking for some standard electric work and don't want to be charged a premium by a guy who seems to think he's the greatest thing to happen to electricity since Thomas Edison, then don't contact Rudy.

I also found Rudy after numerous attempts of finding an electrician. I read his beaming reviews and I am so glad I called him. He was professional from the moment he took my call to the time he finished the job. He removed an ancient range that was hard wired into our kitchen wall and installed an outlet for a new range. He set up the new range and took his time ensuring that it was all set and safe to operate. I highly recommend Rudy because he is honest, personable, hard working and extremely reasonable with his rates. Now that I have found Rudy, he will be our only choice for electricians in the future. Five stars to Rudy. We chose him from the YELP reviews and could not be more pleased. He responded immediately, gave us a very reasonable estimate and arranged a time to do the work. He showed up right on time and his work was great. He gave us excellent suggestions and when done, his work was so clean that we did not need to do any painting or drywall repair. I have saved his card and will absolutely use him for all my electrical needs. I highly recommend him.

Rudy is outstanding! He absolutely deserves a 5 star rating! We contacted him based on his Yelp reviews to perform an electrical inspection, update outlets, add lighting and do a TV installation in an older home we purchased in SB. He nailed it! He's incredibly knowledgeable, communicative, thorough, direct and honest. We will definitely work with him again and refer him to anyone who will listen. He's one of a kind. Thank you, Rudy!

I contacted Rudy today based on the reviews I read here and was not disappointed. My husband, who knows electrical issues to a degree, could not determine the problem with a GFI that had stopped working. Rudy performed just as the reviews said: experienced, knowledgeable, generous with his time, and just a stand up kind of guy. For sure we will call him for any future electrical issues.

Rudy Rodriguez is an electrician who knows what he is doing, does an excellent job and will travel if needed. After paying a technician from United Plumbing & Heating for replacing a breaker that was never replaced and was not the cause of the problem, Rudy fixed the problem and helped me confront the owner about the dishonest technician and get my money back. Rudy is personable and extremely honest and I highly recommend him to anyone in need of electrical help. It is extremely rare these days to find a business/owner this honest and humble. This one is a blessing and a true angel on earth.
