Founded in the year 1961, when Leo F. Vellutini launched his contracting venture from his residence in Sacramento. In 1971, the company took on the name Royal Electric Company, becoming known for its exceptional service in small commercial, residential, and maintenance work. In the 1970s, the firm expanded in various market sectors, including multi-family developments, industrial construction, and public works. In 1974, Leo's son, and in 1977, he partnered with his father when the firm incorporated as Vellutini Corporation doing business as Royal Electric Company. During the early 1980s, the partners broadened their focus to underground electrical services. Initially focusing on underground utilities, street lighting, and traffic signals, Royal Electric Company quickly ventured into other unique underground markets such as runway lighting for airports and highway projects.

Throughout the years, Frank Vellutini has emphasized the importance of upholding the company's commitment to quality, customer care, and notably its relationships. Today, Royal Electric Company maintains a service department that looks like what it did back in 1971, and interestingly, still provides service to many of the same clients.
