***Edit 3 (6/2/23): The work is complete and it looks great. The business owner visited the property and personally assisted his staff. They were personable and completed the work by noon. Increased from 2 to 5*; Eventually, their customer service and finished product were great. It took a few months, but we got there.

**Edit 2 (5/30/23) : Today the repair work was supposed to be completed. I heard from from Ron Dorris Electric this morning. They cancelled the visit to repair the roof. Repair and scheduling still pending. I also asked if I could schedule a visit on another, separate matter. The staff said no. The company is not scheduling appointments out with anyone at this time.

I began working with Ron Dorris Electric in mid-to-late 2022. At the beginning the work went well. In November 2022, I had Ron Dorris Electric install a new lateral drop from the road as well as a new solar-ready electrical box.

In Spring 2023, this company's work began to fall apart. The mast connecting the lateral drop to my roof began to pull apart from the roof. Since noticing the issue, I contacted Ron Dorris Electric to alert them and request them to fix it. A roofer/electrician visited and informed me that Ron Dorris' installer should have applied supports to the mast given the height of the mast and the tension of the electrical drop wires. He stated the weight and tension of the electrical wires (without supports) caused the mast to pull of the roof. He said he would fix the problem that week, but when I returned from travel the problem still remained.

I have called Ron Dorris and requested a timeline for completing the repair. I still do not have answer. Most calls, even if made around 9:00 a.m., go to an answering service. In the last month (three or four weeks) I have left three messages with the answering service but have not received a call back from those. My diligence helped me get through to someone last week, but I still do not have an update. Ron Dorris has an email address, but I haven't received a response to the two emails I submitted in the same period.

All I want is to learn the timeline for correcting the poor workmanship. How long is it going to take to repair the roof and add supports? Will there be a cost to me if your staff complete work that should have been completed the first time? I can appreciate the company is busy, and I am thankful my electrical power still works. I have a hole if my roof, the rainy weather is continues, and I am merely looking for a timeline for completion.

Ron Dorris Electric & Solar provides exceptional service and I have been recommending him and his team for years. I was referred to Ron Dorris a few years ago after having several horrible experiences with local electricians. My first impressions of Ron's team were hard-working, extremely knowledgeable, honest, kind, good-natured people in integrity. Their work is of the highest quality.

A few months ago, I invested in an in-home Generac generator through Ron Dorris Electric & Solar and Ron's team once again exceeded my expectations.
The team is organized and on it - they managed the process all the way through guiding me every step of the way. With most companies, I have to follow-up many times micromanaging the process, but not Ron Dorris's team! The customer service is the best I've ever experienced and it's not just the type of customer service that checks a box, it's real and genuine. Ron's team is attentive, detailed oriented and takes great care in producing high quality work. I'm left feeling taken care of and cared for. The team is friendly, skilled and just all-around great people.

I have built a great relationship with Michelle and Selena who answer the phones and when I call, they take the time to ask me how I'm doing. I lost power yesterday and both Michelle and Selena sent Adrian (the lead electrician on the job) over to my house within 15 minutes to finish the final install so I'd have power! Adrian walked me through every step of the process and when the power came back on, he stopped by on his own time to ensure the generator shut-off properly. Melissa who manages the entire generator process from start to finish was helpful, organized and took great care to ensure my needs were met every step of the way. Philip, who organizes the city inspections/permits, was communicative, always showed up on time and very responsive. I can't remember the names of the rest of the crew that installed my generator, but they were all fantastic as well.

Customer Service begins with the simple act of returning a customer's phone call. I have called twice now just to begin the process of purchasing and installing a whole house generator. Each time I was assured that I would get a return call right away. It has been 5 days since my first attempt and NO CALL. The slogans on the business website state such things as ""Timely"", and ""Delivering an experience beyond your expectations"" ring hollow. If you can't return a simple phone call, how can you possibly deliver a task as complex as installing a whole house generator and provide reliable future service. I refuse to chase someone down just to give them my money to perform a service.

Very disappointed. Mark came over to give us an estimate on doing the wiring for a backup generator. He said we would have it in a couple of days. One week later, I called because I hadn't received anything. Was told Mark would be called and we would receive an estimate soon. After another week, we called and was told that it was out of the receptionists control. We are going to try another firm. Would not recommend to anyone.

Do not use Ron Dorris Electric for a Generac generator install. You will not pay much more to have full service Generac dealer installer do the work and when issues come up you will not be told that you are responsible for paperwork, warranty approval or fixing non-electrical problems that can happen with your generator after install. This is the first negative review that I have left in my 60 years on the planet. Bottom line: paid too much, a ton of miscues and confusion, poor communication, financial and other surprises and I was left on my own to resolve a number of post installation problems.

I had been talking to a few companies before I selected Ron Dorris to do my generator installation. Unlike the other firms, the represented that they could take care of the whole job -- electrical, permitting and gas. The other firms only wanted to do electrical. There bid was higher than the others but I assumed that was because they were doing more. I foolishly agreed to start the project before I had a copy of their contract -- it was a handshake deal. In the end, I had to hire and pay a separate plumber $1,200 to do the gas line installation (on top of Ron Dorris' high bid) and they were unable to get me a permit. It was at this point that they suggested that I read the contract that they kept failing to send me after getting my email address wrong in five separate occasions including mis-registering my generator with Generac with another typo in my email address. That error cost me 2 hours on two separate calls to sort out these issues with Generac because Ron Dorris Electric felt that the warranty registration was a customer responsibility.

The final straw came on the first day the generator ran in a power outage and the oil cap came off and filled my enclosure with oil and left me in the dark. I called Ron Dorris and they said they don't service generators. They sent me to Generac. Generac gave me a local service installer (who I should have called in the first place) who asked me to send a picture. The Generac authorized dealer said it was not a warranty issue that the installer should check to see that the cap is properly tightened. Ron Dorris disagreed. They said it was a Generac issue -- so I got stuck cleaning up the mess.

So if you want a bunch of cost overruns, confusing representations, problems with permitting and negative surprises after they leave, you will be happy with Ron Dorris Electric.

During these crazy outages and fires, Ron Doris was able to make a same day appointment when everyone else refused to help us.

Selena was super helpful, and their electrician Allen was great. They were able to identify the problem quickly, and had our stove and Microwave running within the hour.

Best part about it, they were super fair with their pricing and came out much lower than we expected.

Ron Dorris has bailed us out twice. On the first occurrence my wife called them in because of problems with AFCI breakers that she could not reset. The tech showed her how to properly reset them, checked for any other issues and charged her the minimum trip charge. Politely and professionally handled. The second experience was a bigger deal, with an emergency situation during an AirBnB vacation rental. Ron's team came out, diagnosed and solved the problems quickly and correctly. What had started out as a disaster for us with renters ready to leave ended as well as it could have. Ron's guys maintained communication and interacted professionally with the difficult guests.

Allan Brown from this firm came out promptly and was exactly what you want for an electrical project in your home. Super nice guy, great attitude, really knew his stuff. He also showed-up with a well-stocked van full of everything he needed, so there was no break in the work for him to go get supplies. He ran into some surprises, including having to un-do and re-do someone else's work. He was in the house, under the house and in the attic quickly and efficiently. He showed me before and after photos of the work under the house. Everything he said made perfect sense, and he managed to stay within the projections of his original bid. I'm saving this phone number. (I have no relationship with Allan or anyone at this firm.)
