Useless and arrogant. I had a circuit breaker that kept tripping, so I called Zapata's because they were the ones who initially wired the house (and did some switches incorrectly--but that's another issue that was resolved).
The technician showed up and without even measuring current draw determined in about two minutes that the breaker was overloaded. Because the circuit included the front porch and foyer (something I didn't realize and a poor design IMO), I conceded that it *might* be overloaded with the Christmas lights, even though in the six years I've lived in the house it's never been a problem.
After Christmas, I had the same problem and asked them to come back out. They wouldn't come out without charging me again, even after I explained that the problem still existed after I removed the supposed problem. They said they'd come out and if the technician was wrong before, they wouldn't charge me. Seriously??? What kind of self serving proposition is that? Of course he wouldn't be wrong! He was so cocksure the first time around and had little patience to speak with me (though he did have time to try to sell me a new line and breaker).
I bought a current meter and tested it myself. I can't find any overload, though there is a laser printer that *could* be causing the breaker to trip because of its peak current draw, but that wasn't what the technician said. He blamed it on the Christmas lights and a generic overload condition. He was also kind of condescending, even after I told him I was an electronic engineer and know a little bit about electricity. I asked him if it could be the breaker itself. Nope! Not that.
I won't be using Zapata's ever again. All they had to do was come out and look at the problem again without charging me. It wouldn't have taken five minutes because that's how long it took the first time. I think I was clear about the problem and that the diagnosis was hasty and presumptuous. It was a diagnosis, so it wasn't like I was trying to get something free. I just wanted it done properly.
Update: The circuit had been fine up until today (31 August 2021), but the breaker just tripped several times. There has been NO CHANGE to anything I've plugged in or turned on since the first incident. This is definitely a problem that was beyond Zapata's technician's inclination or ability to diagnose. There is nothing exceeding 15A (not even close) on this circuit. Zapata's was the company who did the house wiring to begin with, so it's probably something they did wrong.
Update 2: I had Combat Electric look at the problem. He properly diagnosed it and fixed it. Turned out to be the circuit breaker that Zapata's employee was so sure wasn't the problem.

Just got a returned phone call from Rob Zapata's electric. They are not taking on new clients for a couple of months.

They install faulty breakers, then charge you to replace them. Don't bother.

The guys were very professional and answered all my questions. They fixed the problem which required them to replace underground wiring. They were quick and efficient. I would recommend them to family.

In our opinion, one of the best electrical companies in the World. The owner ""Mr. Rob Zapata"" doesn't just take care of his customers like family but also treats everyone of his employees like family as well. A self made man who has a passion for helping people, no matter what their background is. He doesn't judge, gives people a Second Chance and gives back to the community every opportunity he gets.
Thank you Mr. Zapata for supporting www.secondchancejobs.org and helping change lives one apprentice at a time.

Zapata's electric was recommended to me for issues I had with a porch light. I had to wait for an appointment but it wasn't an emergency. The two employees who showed up were very professional and had the problem fixed in no time. Would use them again.
