Riddle me this: when does an electrical outlet cost $245?

My wife plugged into an outlet one day and half the electrical circuit on the lower floor of our house went dead. She called Reliable. They said it would cost $89 just to roll the truck, but then they offered her another option - they would happily sell us their $100 ""Peace of Mind"" package, which includes a ""visual"" inspection. We thought this would allow them to determine what the problem was, but we found out later that the visual inspection is just that - a look - no more. How much can you discern about a house's electrical system from a look? Unless sparks are flying out of your outlets, nothing. That's where it gets ugly - in order for them to engage in any troubleshooting whatsoever, you must pay for a ""Level 1 Diagnosis."" Cost: $245! Since I was able to point to the outlet where the trouble originated, this ""diagnosis"" took all of five minutes. Did I mention that any repairs that are determined to be needed as a result of the 5-minute $245 diagnosis are extra? Since by this time it was obvious that I was quite distressed, the technician magnanimously offered to rescind the ""Peace of Mind"" package and replace the outlet at no charge - oh thank you, kind sir!

We thought that we might have some additional wiring issues that might be determined via the ""Peace of Mind"" package, but we certainly couldn't afford to find out once we discovered that it would cost $245+ just to address the issue we already knew of.

The only thing you can ""rely"" upon with Reliable is that you're gonna get fleeced.

This company has caused my family and I a lot of grief. Had a new Trane system installed 14 months ago and we've had tons of issues. I think we are up to 30 service calls now, ridiculous. I don't think these people know what they are doing. Oh our system is down again and it's one of the hottest weekends of the year.

this business doesn't even deserve one star. purchased a brand new unit in December 2014 they have come out twice to ""fix"" it and both times made me wait 5 days. this morning the AC went out again. I spoke with a girl named Morgan who said she would put me on the emergency list, I wait at my house for four hours awaiting my phone call to let me know they were coming. finally end up calling them only to find out I was never put on an emergency list and was scheduled for Thursday- 5 days from now. my house is currently 85 degrees and I am forced to check myself and my dog into a hotel- added expenses. if you are smart you will not use this company. many other companies who are much more ""reliable"".

Extremely disappointed in their service. My two year old unit, which has been under a maintenance contract and serviced regularly, quit working. I called for service and was told there was a 10 day backlog (June in Hotlanta!) but they would put me on the ""wait list"" and if they had an opening they would work me in. 7 days into this I called to see how the list (for the 2nd time since my original service call) was coming and was told I wasn't even on the list! I finally asked for the owner, Dan Jape, and was connected to someone that actually helped me. My unit was back up and running that day- took the tech less than 10 minutes to get it working. After a 7 day wait! I requested Mr. Jape call me because I wanted him to know first hand the ""service"" his company provides. He's yet to call me. Such a disappointment. Also, I'd like to add 2 other HVAC companies could have been at my home within a day but that would have violated my warranty I'd purchased from Reliable. To add insult to injury, while on hold for long periods of time with Reliable, they advertise 24/7 service. DO NOT USE RELIABLE HEATING & AIR! UNreliable.

And our air conditioner is broken again. 3rd time in less than 12 Weeks since we got the new unit. Service technician came by again today, made it 4 hours before it was not working. Manager just told us we should not expect our unit to keep the house at less than 82 degrees when it's 90 degrees outside. Are you kidding me? Worst installation and customer service in Roswell in the 30 years I have lived here.

I had two Trane high-efficiency units installed by Reliable in October of 2010 and have had them serviced twice a year since. One of the units was initially installed incorrectly and had to be re-done. A few weeks ago the digital thermostat went out so I called for a service tech to replace it - they were prompt in coming out but the tech didn't have my upgraded model (even though I was assured he would have it on his truck) so he installed a lower-end thermostat so we could get the A/C back on - he promised to order the correct one and get us back on the schedule to replace it, which he did. I received a call to schedule the replacement and was offered either an ""anytime"" appointment the following day or a ""morning"" or ""afternoon"" appointment the day after - I opted for the morning appointment on the second day. It is now 1:03 PM and I am still waiting for the tech to show up - I just called their office and was told I wasn't scheduled until later this afternoon. The woman I spoke with was not only unprofessional but totally unconcerned that I was being inconvenienced. I will never do business with RELIABLE again, however, I will say that their techs are polite, professional and a pleasure to work with...especially Jonathon - they are lucky to have him on their staff. One other thing, the so-called high-efficiency units never saved me a dime - what a joke.

We have spent approximately 18k with this company to add hvac units as part of finishing a basement and replacing the main floor units to improve effeciency. Overall, we regret using this company. We have hired another company to fix their poor work. Additionally, some tools were stolen by their employees from our basement. I have scheduled 3 appointments to receive the annual maintenance that supposedly would be done free as part of the 18k we spent. Thus far, they have failed to show up on 3 occasions. I got tired of taking days off to wait for them to just have them not show up or cancel. Beware of this company.

I will be the first to admit that we fell for the rampant marketing, so I am a sucker. The tech cancelled a visit, no-showed for the rescheduled date, and randomly ""courtesy"" called to let us know he was on his way on a holiday weekend. I'm underwhelmed by their professionalism. He arrived over an hour late. In any case, we won't be using them next year. The tech was polite and friendly. No issues there. Unfortunately, I'm looking for punctuality and oddly enough, reliability.

After several pleasant experiences with Reliable, I felt that my recent negative experience warranted a warning to fellow consumers. I can no longer recommend them.

I am a participant in their Maintenance Program which the website claims means the customer will receive priority service when there is a problem with your system. In my experience, this was not the case. With temps soaring into the 90s (inside and outside my home) I waited on their ""standby list"" for FOUR DAYS! I realize that they had an increased call volume, but 4 days still felt excessive. When I technician finally arrived, he was there for 15 minutes before declaring that he could not fix my problem because the unit was ""frozen"". He returned the next day and was able to address the problem.

The wait and the lack of customer service related to the wait is my biggest issue. I""m not sure if they oversold their Maintenance Program to the point that they cannot help all the participants when their is a problem or if they've just grown too big too fast to provide effective service to their customers.
