I highly recommend Rick and his team at RB Handyman.

Rick immediately returned my call (unlike many others) and set up a time for a walk-through at my home in Lafayette. He was on time, never rushed me and very detailed in all of his explanations. His bid was very fair. We had a large chandelier we wanted installed over a stairwell. A couple other people suggested renting scaffolding at a crazy cost but Rick's guys fashioned their own at no rental cost to me. He was booked three weeks out but worth the wait to have someone reliable do the work.

The work took a couple hours longer (with two people doing the work) than Rick had predicted due to all of the crystals on the chandelier needing to be individually hung but no one even mentioned that and I didn't pay any more than his original bid. I appreciated that.

I will definitely be using him again!

Just to let you know I have never met Rick in person. I live on the east coast and hired him to do a worrisome drainage job at my former home in Orinda two years ago. I hired Rick because of his stellar YELP reviews and I couldn't be more pleased! Pictures of the job were sent to me before the job and during and through completion. Rick has now done three separate jobs for me--not for the faint-hearted--a major french drain problem, a big time roof leak with interior damage and now a failing fence. His work is absolutely first class and meant to last. Rick is super honest, super dependable and has a great disposition even over the telephone. When you speak with Rick you know he knows what he is talking about! My fence job this week was overseen by Don who was on the job the entire time. It give me such peace of mind that I can count on Rick and his guys when I need something done...and nothing is more wonderful than knowing it will be a job done right!

I recently moved to Brentwood and needed help with a few small projects in the house I bought, ie. fan & cabinet installed in bathroom, ceiling fans installed in 2 bedrooms, outside lights installed and outside painting after dry rot repairs. A co-worker recommended RB Handyman Services and I checked them out on Yelp. Rick was very prompt and professional. He provided an estimate and scheduled the work. Danny and Scott showed up on time and did a great job. They were always courteous and worked hard. They always left the work area clean and did a final walk through to make sure I was happy. I will definitely call them for future projects.

Couldn't agree more with all the five star ratings! Got a call back from Rick within minutes after I left a voicemail to arrange for an estimate to repair/replace multiple sections of planking on our back yard fence that were rotted at the bottom. Amazingly Rick said he had some already in our neighborhood who could come by within the next hour. He also was very upfront by saying that if we accepted the estimate/proposal, they wouldn't be able to start for three weeks due to their current workload, in case we needed it repaired sooner. I appreciated his honesty and said it wouldn't be a problem.

Frank showed up within the hour and was very personable and obviously knowledgeable. After inspecting the fence he suggested that the best and most economical fix would be to replace the 1x1"" runners at the bottom of both sides of the fence with 2x4"" pressure treated boards. Not only was this the cheapest option but it would hold up for many years... No trying to suggest a more costly solution!

On the scheduled date Danny showed up right on time. He was very polite and personable. He reviewed the scope of work to be sure it was right. He went right to work and was later joined by Scott, who also was very polite and personable. Both of them did a great job of making the fence repairs and even upgraded some runners that weren't in the scope of work because they had some extra material....very classy! They left the work areas spotless and did a final walk through with me to be sure I was satisfied with the work. Couldn't be more satisfied.

We had quite a few things that needed fixing in and around the house. Rick came to do the walkthrough and helped us decide what items were worth fixing/updating in preparation for selling our home. Pricing was fair and we had confidence in RB due to good Yelp Reviews.

Danny was in charge of the project and made sure we were happy with all work that was done. Workers were professional, clean and friendly. All work was done on schedule and to our satisfaction.

These guys really live up to their reputation.

After 15 years of living in the same house and not doing anything to upgrade, I finally decided it was time. I live alone and work full time, so managing a full home renovation felt daunting. The best way (for me) to manage was to break it down into smaller projects and tackle one at a time. I had no solid referrals for contractors from friends or family, so I hit up Yelp and read a crazy amount of reviews. I was very impressed with the number of 5 Star reviews that RB Handyman Services had and gave Rick a call. I met five different contractors for phase I of my bathroom remodel, which was to close off two doors and create open shelving. Rick's pricing was very competitive and he was very thorough preparing his bid and making sure to capture all the details. He also offered advice and suggestions that helped me consider things I might have overlooked.

Don and Jason arrived to do the work. They were both friendly and professional and I felt at ease right away with them in my house. They showed up every morning right on time and worked without a break till lunch and then back at it till the end of the day. Each evening, they were very careful about cleaning up and not leaving a mess. The work took a little longer to complete than we had planned for, so Jason came back on a Saturday to finish the job. Don built a beautiful open cabinet and Jason closed up two doors so masterfully, you wouldn't know there was ever a door there before.

When it came time to complete the rest of the bathroom, I called Rick again to provide a quote and I also contacted two other companies. In the end I selected Rick because his pricing was the best and I already knew the quality of work. This part of the remodel involved complete demo of the bathroom, moving electrical outlets, wiring for new wall sconces, installing a new toilet, tub, and more. Don was the lead on the project. He's a very hard worker. He takes his time to make sure the work is done correctly. He plans ahead to maximize his time. He kept me informed every step of the project and if he ran into a problem, he offered workable solutions to achieve the desired outcome. The level of care that Don put into his work makes you feel like he's working on his own house. He's a gem!

I had a few other pieces of the project that were being handled by other specialty vendors. Rick had no problem working with the other vendors to make sure everyone was on track with timing and schedules. When I needed Don to return to finish up, he came on a Saturday so I wouldn't have to wait several weeks because he was booked that far ahead. I could go on and on, but suffice to say, all the 5 star reviews are accurate and well deserved. If you have any job, large or small, give Rick a call. You won't be sorry. I've already asked Rick to provide an estimate for the next phase of my house remodel. Thank you Rick and Team - you guys are awesome!
