Reliable and Honest
We are very satisfied with Ranch Hands Construction quality of work. They began by repairing termite rot and damage to our 1909 craftsman home in Santa Barbara. The deck fascia, supporting beams and headers, all needed to be repaired or replaced.
After several bids from various general contractors, Jean-Claude with RHC gave the most thorough and comprehensive bid. He took the time to explain and break down the process of each scope of work. The 5 scopes of work were then priced separately allowing us to decide according to our budget and needs. Although not the cheapest bid, it was worth getting the job done right.
The Ranch Hands Construction crew were competent, prompt, hard working and respectful. Obviously RHC take pride in their work, going the extra mile and paying attention to details.
It was refreshing to see camaraderie and teamwork amongst their coworkers.
After their initial work, we hired Ranch Hands to reroof a backyard cottage, and rebuild the railings on our front deck. Again, we were very impressed with RHC work. The jobs were all within the original estimate, and the work was completed in a timely manner.
We would definitely recommend RCH for most any construction job.
It's difficult to find honesty, reliability and quality work.
Thank you for the help.

Ranch hands is the best! They arrive on time and do a great job and are extremely professional. We hired them to paint our fence and the work is impeccable. We hired them again to replace some wood on our pergola. Again great job Daniel Hernandez does a great job. We are hiring them again to paint our pergola. Their entire team is great and any older reviews that are negative don't reflect how great they are now. Our experience is within the last two years. Highly recommend Ranch Hands!!

I hired Ranch Hands twice in the last year. They were expensive (very), but the first time they came out, they did a great job. HOWEVER, BEWARE--they are a group of ""gentlemen"" that run out of a halfway house. Drug users and criminals. I have a disabled daughter and I was warned not to leave any of her meds out. I didn't but I did notice my own medicine was missing from my medicine cabinet. The first time they came out they showed up mostly every day and called if there was a problem. It was a large job and took about 3 weeks. They continued to work until I was happy with the job. The next time I hired them was for a small bedroom remodel and I wanted a valance made in my bathroom. First of all, they never showed up on the day agreed upon. Jean-Claude said he must have made a mistake, but he said he would ""work me in."" OK, I'm pretty easy going. But then it just got worse from there. I was having board and batten added to a bedroom and then it was to be painted and a light fixture changed out, along with building a playset I already purchased. The cost to put in a $300 playset? They wanted almost $1K for that. I negotiated that price down. It took two guys two days to put it together and it was never finished. Then the board and batten started.....I had to go in there and tell them exactly what board and batten was and help them space it along the walls. When they finally got it up, all the had to do was paint it. I've had renters paint better. There were little splatters all over the floors, the edges are uneven and not touched up, parts of the room did not receive adequate paint, and then the geniuses decided they would wash out their paint brushes in my bathroom (without asking where I would prefer they be washed) and I had to clean that up each day. To top it off the ""electrician"" they called in to put in the ceiling fan couldn't figure out how to make one switch turn the fan on, and one switch turn the light on. So now I have to turn on one switch to give it power and the other switch will turn on the light, but I must use the remote if I want to have the fan work. That's a problem just waiting to happen when the remote gets lost one day. And the valance I wanted made? They wanted to charge me another $1K. But it didn't matter because they just never did it. When I called they kept saying they couldn't find a piece of wood. Really? Ever hear of a lumber yard? I ended up going to home depot and doing it myself for the whopping cost of $13 including paint and metal hangers. They never came to finish the job and fix the drips, the uneven painting the parts that didn't get paint coverage completely, and when I called and emailed, I was ignored. All in all I spent over $20K with this company and the difference from the first team they sent over to the second was like night and day. Unfortunately, because of the way they run things at their halfway house, you never know who you're going to get. I won't ever be hiring them again.

We really appreciate the work of Ranch hands Construction. James came out yesterday on time and quickly cleaned our gutters and 28 solar panels and one skylight. Without making a mess. What a difference he made. I know I will call them again for any thing that needs to be done. They are a very professional company.

Maybe things have changed but my experience was an expensive mistake. RH was hired to add onto an existing fence, trim privacy fence paneling, and place two posts into the ground. Four workers showed up for a simple job that normally would require no more than 2 handymen. They didnt start work until the foreman showed up 20 minutes later, yet they billed hourly for the time the time they waited around and they worked slowly. The fence wasn't aligned evenly and the privacy fence was cut crooked. They had about 5 minutes more work to finish and I was told I'd be charged a full hourly rate per man for those extra 5 minutes.. No reputable contractor does that. These inexperienced workers charged the same hourly rate as the foreman. I doubt they were licensed, bonded, or insured or know the permit codes and requirements. Something you may want to verify before hiring.

This is the second time this year we've hired Ranch Hands to help get our property ready for the market. They did a fantastic job, painting, renovating some old bathrooms to make them look new again, tile work, replacing numerous old plumbing fixtures with new, replacing light fixtures with new, painting the deck area to renew the look, moving furniture, clearing out the property, hauling stuff to the dump, stripping wallpaper and retexturing the walls to be painted, I could go on. They always arrived on time and did a fine cleanup at the end of each work day. When they were finished with the old place, we then sent them over to our new place, where they painted it throughout exactly to my specifications, and installed some light fixtures. All very well done. These gentlemen are prompt, efficient and the prices are very reasonable. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

Over 12k to replace a shower that they then used to long of screws in that went through touching the grounded pipe, that could have resulted in one of our residents being electrocuted to death as is residents received jolting shocks in shower !!! I could have lost my entire business and someone their life because of their sloppy and dangerous and overpriced work !! Will be filing litigation.
