Over-Pricing and Under-Performing Experience:
Two items: Doorbell and AC socket:
AC Socket -- I was billed $300 for the installation of an AC socket in my crawling-space that took about 40 minutes to install. When I requested the price be reduced, Sam disagreed but in the end threw $40 dollars on my table and left, seemingly indignant. I was willing to have paid him for an hour's work or even an hour-and-a-half because the man (not Sam himself) who had installed the AC socket was very competent and efficient.
Doorbell -- Via Fidelity National Home Warranty, Sam was contracted to repair my doorbell, and he did a very poor job. I say this because two weeks after the repair, the whole doorbell-knob device fell off the wall. I called Sam and he again seemed very indignant that he had to return to fix it. But after he left I noticed that it took a lot of push-power on the button for the door-bell to register the sound. I wasn't happy with this but decided to just let it go -- I had enough of disappointing dealings with Sam.
But I soon had to call Sam again because a month or two later, the doorbell wasn't working at all anymore, no matter how hard I pushed the button. So I called him on numerous occasions, but he never returned my call.
Therefore, based on my experience, I would not recommend Rainbow Electric.

Sam the owner of Rainbow Electric was very helpful to me, and he is obviously a very knowledgeable expert with decades of experience. After he had worked here a year ago upgrading outlets in my 1958 Eichler home in Marinwood, (through my Fidelity Home Warranty) I had a puzzling situation where an outside GI outlet kept switching off for no obvious reason and I could not reset it.
I called him and while I was on the phone with him at the outlet, he walked me through over the phone how to trouble shoot it and the steps to take - and what could be causing the problem - in less than 5 minutes - we had problem solved, he answered all my questions and patiently explained to what to pay attention to in the future to prevent re-occurrence.
As a homeowner - I really appreciate it when a technician takes the time to educate me so I know more about what I am dealing with. A lot of home/appliance service businesses don't do this trouble shooting over the phone - and I would have had to pay for another service call and lose half a day of work waiting at home for the service appointment. Thank you, Sam!

We just moved and needed all new electrical panels and Rainbow Electric did a fantastic job, even through a few glitches we did not expect to find. They were professional and really cared about the final outcome and customer service. The kind of follow up I received is rare these days...

Rainbow Electric came to us thru Fidelity National Home Warranty (an absolute useless, fraudulent, deceitful organization - do not use). We purchased a home that our realtor provided a warranty with. We had some switches that were inactive, receptacles that did not work, a doorbell that was broken, as well as a few other mysteries. Sam showed up on time, was very professional, and solved most of our issues very quickly. We will have Sam back to our house and provide him with additional work and recommendations. Sam got right into it by crawling into spaces of our house that we had never seen. Thanks!

I first met Sam and Mo when they came out for a home warranty call. Since that repair that was under warranty, I have had Rainbow do work for me on two other occasions. I have been impressed each time that they answer the phone when you call, made next day availability (rare), come on time, do a neat job, communicate the issue well, and are very polite and personable, and price fairly.
I highly recommend them. As a note: I had worked with 3 electricians prior to Rainbow and would never go back now.

Placed a service call through Fidelity Home Warranty and they assigned it to Rainbow. The gentleman that showed up in Napa was:
- On time
- Professional
- Thorough in trying to diagnose the pesky problem with the circuit, including crawling under the house
- Successful in fixing the problem

Excellent customer service. He was very patient even though this was an AHS home warranty call. He fixed some items we have had chronic issues with and was reasonably priced to boot.
