A technician assessed our old AC unit to inform we needed an entirely new unit. This cost a hefty penny, after a month of use, the house temperature was at 80 degrees. I've contacted services to have a technician repair this 'new' unit, but I'm posting this to warn future customers.
I called this company because I needed to new ducts dropped which included run new ac chutes. WORST COMPANY I HAVE EVER DONE BUSINESS WITH! On October 15, 2016 I called Promag to give me a quote on installing a few new ducts. When the gentleman came out to check out what we needed done he seemed very knowledgeable and talked us into installing all new ducts throughout my house ( kudos to him ) they said we can do it tomorrow if your interested. We agreed to have it done the next day. The total cost was $4000. The installers/techs came out the next day, they were almost 2 hours late and we never received a phone call. When I called the office to ask what was going on, they told me the installers were at my house and doing the job. I will say the guys that finally showed up were very nice and explained things to my husband as they went along. During the install my ceiling light in the hallway broke and they didn't bother to clean it up or replace it. A few days after the install both of my daughters rooms were significantly warmer than the rest of the house. They could not sleep with the door closed or they would wake up in a pool of sweat. Even with the doors open I would have to put fans in the hallway to bring the cool air into their rooms. The next weekend I called the company, they set me up for an appointment for the following weekend. The following weekend came and and no one showed. I called the office and the receptionist said I will get someone out there today to look at it. About 4-5 hours later a tech came out never looked at the ducts, never checked the air coming out, alls he did was adjust the vent for it to blow across the ceiling. He told us to give it a few days and if that didn't work to give them a call back. That Monday we called back. They again schedule for a tech to come back the following saturday. Saturday came and again no one showed and no one called. I called the office again and was told everyone in the office was off that day and she would have someone call me on Monday to schedule us for someone to come out. Monday came and no one called, I called on Tuesday and again they scheduled someone to come out again. This time the guys came out and went in the attic came out of the attic and adjusted the vents back to how they were originally and said that should fix the problem. To no surprise it didn't fix anything. I called back to the office the next day in the evening and spoke with John the owners son. He apologized for the issue assured me this issue would be taken care of. I told him I would give him to saturday after thanksgiving or I would be taking this issue to social media and the better business bureau. I told him the lack of respect I have received from this company is unbelievable. He again assured me that I have reached the right guy and he would definitely have this taken care of. Well Monday comes and the receptionist calls and says the owner himself want to come out and check out the duct work himself and they would call him back on Tuesday with an appt. SURPRISE we received no called yesterday which was Friday December 2 and got John the son again and again he assured me I got the right man and he would make sure this was taken care of. We again had to call the office the next day which is now December 3 and got JD on the phone, he said he will be out Monday the 5th to see what the issue is so he can then schedule someone to come out and fix it. I'm out $4000 and in a worse position that I was originally and will now have to call another company to come and fix their issues that will they should have fixed a month ago. So now we will be out more money. Stay as far away from this company as you can. Research the companies you hire. I sure learned my lesson
I had pro mag energy group out to my house today. I was so impressed with the professionalism of the tech Jeff. He went over how the system operates as well as some key recommendations to help with energy cost. Couldnt be happier with Jeff and Promag energy group. Thank you!
Please do not do business with these people. You will be ripped off.
I am renting a house in Merritt Island from a friend and when the summer heat arrived the AC would not keep up. After finding Pro Mags card on the refrigerator I called their Cocoa Beach office last Thursday and was told that their technician would arrive the following morning. Friday morning two technicians led by James arrived, and after a few minutes of diagnosing the problem James, told me that the problem was that AC Compressor was leaking and it had to be replaced at a cost of $3,900 (please see attached quote. Then James proceeded to tell me the following:
* the cause of the compressor leak was that the unit had been installed next to a sprinkler that spayed hard water (containing sulfur) casing the unit to rust.
* since the sprinklers where the cause of the damage it would not be covered by the manufacturer's warranty.
* that Pro Mag had not done the original installation
* the original was not done according to the Florida code and whoever had done it could have their license compromised by not doing it according to code
* by all looks the original installation had not been permitted nor inspected buy the county.
* the diagnostic visit cost $55 (which I paid)
James then left with the AC unit disassembled and he refused to add Ffreon to it since ""it would only leak out"". That day the temperature reached 93 Fahrenheit in Merritt Island. I tracked down the AC unit's manufacturer and serial number. The manufacturer, Goodman Group, told me that the unit had indeed been sold to ProMag Energy Group in 2012. I then called ProMags Cocoa office, spoke to a lady named Amanda, who told that they had no records of selling this unit, and that the only record they had related to my address was a service call in May of 2013. When I told Amanda that Goodman had told me that ProMag had bought the units, she told me that she would need to call me back.
Shorty later James called me back. He told me that ProMag count not possibly have done the install since they kept really good records, and they had no record of an install being done at my address. After locating the original invoice I emailed a copy of it to the Cocoa ProMag office (to Amanda). It showed that the unit had been installed on April 4th 2012 and was under 1 year labor and 5 year parts warranty. I repeatedly called thought out that day, and no one would give me an answer. I finally got a call late on Friday from James. James told me that he had contacted Goodman, and that the manufacturer's warranty would be invalid due to the hard water, and that they were not liable in any way. He also told me that he had informed his manager about the install not being ""according to code"", but still the responsibly was not theirs. I proceeded to tell James that in my opinion:
* ProMag was liable since they had done the original install, and if anything was wrong with the placement of the unit relative to the sprinklers it was their fault.
* ProMag did service the unit in may of 2013 and at that point had ample opportunity
* The previous unit had been in the same location for 14 years without any problems.
Still, James told me that they were not responsible in any way.
Feeling that I was being sold an BS story I called another local vendor. Being that it was by then late Friday afternoon before memorial day weekend the first their technician could b her was early Tuesday morning.
After a very hot week-end the other company technician, Charlie, arrived. I did not tell Charlie anything about my previous experience, just asked him to diagnose the problem. Charlie came back telling the system was low on Freon, and he suspected that the dryer unit had a small leak. He suggested that we top-off the Freon, and to do a complete leak check when the weather cooled off again in the fall. Total cost, including 6 pounds of Freon: $317
