First the guy was very late and I had to make a few phone calls to get him here and had to reschedule other appts. due to him being late.( one was an interview) My story is much the same as the others on here and on the rip off report. He came and said I had a leak and it couldn't be fixed and I needed a new $4500 unit. I said that was not an option as I was not working and due to have surgery in 2 weeks. He gave me the same speel about couldn't put Freon in unit due to R22 ??? Then he called some one and said he could put Freon in it but he couldnt tell me how long it would last. They charge per pound. He said it would be $350. I asked if it didn't take all $350. worth of Freon would it be less? ( he said it was empty) It couldn't have been empty as my home was cooling at night fine it just couldn't keep up during day. He said thats impossible...I said its not because I can assure I have ac. He left and 20 days later...1 day before surgery I had NO air. Not even at night !! I had to go else where because they wouldn't come back out for few day and were going to charge another service fee. In mean time I had another ac guy look at it and He found the leak ASAP..It was very visible and I was able to see it. The other guy from Promag said it was leaking but didnt know from where??? The 2nd company said he could fix leak and put freon in for $600. I called Promag to complain and the owner of Promag actually said "" Well you should had guy fix it then and you'd have ac right now."" I replied your guy should have fixed it! Your guy said it wasn't fixable and a needed a $4500. ac. I told the owner of Promag to give me my $350. back and I will have this other guy do it as thats what his tech should have done. Promag came back out only because I was referred by his relative. Once again the tech left to make a phone call. He said he would not fix coils but would replace them for $1800. Wait... I thought I needed a new ac??? now I have a coil option for $1800. Now remember I needed a new $4500 ac but now it can be fixed ? I wanted a refund of $350. as the guy knowingly charged me for Freon ( if he really put any in) knowing the leak was large enough it would only last days. Promag said that he couldnt tell me how long freon would last but could last 1 year or more. I would NEVER use or recommend!!

the employees are all liars and rude. they are not reliable and trustworthy. they leave your work half way and promise to do it the next day but they never come or call and when you call to find out they lie to you. they try to sell you their contract under false pretense after the get their money they dont finish your work . i would never recommend this company to any one. if anyone wants a good service for maintenance on allpliances go with sears. i want to cancel my contract with them.

We have used Promag energy for 2 years now. They have always been on time, helpful professional and polite. They installed our new unit when our old one went bad and had us up and running again in less than 24 hours. I recommend them to anyone....

Nothing good to say about how this company operates.

My AC unit in my condo stopped working. Promag came out to fix it and it stopped working again a month later. Promag came out and recommended the entire unit be changed at a cost of $5000.

Found another company for a second opinion who charged $200 to rewire a fan that Promag had miswired in the first place.

This is one example of how poor I think they operate. They are always suggesting high priced interventions even with routine yearly maintenance jobs.

Their call center will call you several times per month to schedule maintenance.
Promag does know how to make money of their customers.

This place condemned my AC unit and told me I needed to buy a new one $$$$$.

Make sure you get a second opinion. I did, replaced a $50 part and got my AC working again.

promag is the absolute worst company I've ever and I mean ever had service my air conditioning system I called because my home air was not cooling they had a tech out to the house within 4 hours after I was told that the tech will be there in one well ok things happen. I stepped out my house when they finally got there when I get back I find my 71 years old wife crying apparently the tech ripped the unit out completely saying that we were all going to "DIE" because it had mold and that it was illegal to own a r-22 unit in the state of Florida and that it was a federal offense. and that if we didn't change the unit he will be forced to call the police. after I was forced to pay $7,800 for a 2 ton straight cool goodman unit no duck work just the unit I come to find out that my old unit that was replaced just 2 years ago. we just moved down from Washington d.c. this company takes advantage of senior citizen my advice to every one around run away from this company they are the worst fear for your safety and your family JD Harris and the pro mag management are all meth heads.

I've never had to deal with my a/c not cooling and it was horrible. Especially with all the rain we've been having it was so humid. They were quick to come out to my house and repaired the unit the same day. The worker then sent out was friendly and seemed honest. Prices were good. A little cheaper then other places I had received quotes from. All in all glad to have called cause it sucks not having air.

Please do not do business with these people. You will be ripped off.

I am renting a house in Merritt Island from a friend and when the summer heat arrived the AC would not keep up. After finding Pro Mags card on the refrigerator I called their Cocoa Beach office last Thursday and was told that their technician would arrive the following morning. Friday morning two technicians led by James arrived, and after a few minutes of diagnosing the problem James, told me that the problem was that AC Compressor was leaking and it had to be replaced at a cost of $3,900 (please see attached quote. Then James proceeded to tell me the following:
* the cause of the compressor leak was that the unit had been installed next to a sprinkler that spayed hard water (containing sulfur) casing the unit to rust.
* since the sprinklers where the cause of the damage it would not be covered by the manufacturer's warranty.
* that Pro Mag had not done the original installation
* the original was not done according to the Florida code and whoever had done it could have their license compromised by not doing it according to code
* by all looks the original installation had not been permitted nor inspected buy the county.
* the diagnostic visit cost $55 (which I paid)

James then left with the AC unit disassembled and he refused to add Ffreon to it since ""it would only leak out"". That day the temperature reached 93 Fahrenheit in Merritt Island. I tracked down the AC unit's manufacturer and serial number. The manufacturer, Goodman Group, told me that the unit had indeed been sold to ProMag Energy Group in 2012. I then called ProMags Cocoa office, spoke to a lady named Amanda, who told that they had no records of selling this unit, and that the only record they had related to my address was a service call in May of 2013. When I told Amanda that Goodman had told me that ProMag had bought the units, she told me that she would need to call me back.

Shorty later James called me back. He told me that ProMag count not possibly have done the install since they kept really good records, and they had no record of an install being done at my address. After locating the original invoice I emailed a copy of it to the Cocoa ProMag office (to Amanda). It showed that the unit had been installed on April 4th 2012 and was under 1 year labor and 5 year parts warranty. I repeatedly called thought out that day, and no one would give me an answer. I finally got a call late on Friday from James. James told me that he had contacted Goodman, and that the manufacturer's warranty would be invalid due to the hard water, and that they were not liable in any way. He also told me that he had informed his manager about the install not being ""according to code"", but still the responsibly was not theirs. I proceeded to tell James that in my opinion:

* ProMag was liable since they had done the original install, and if anything was wrong with the placement of the unit relative to the sprinklers it was their fault.
* ProMag did service the unit in may of 2013 and at that point had ample opportunity
* The previous unit had been in the same location for 14 years without any problems.

Still, James told me that they were not responsible in any way.
Feeling that I was being sold an BS story I called another local vendor. Being that it was by then late Friday afternoon before memorial day weekend the first their technician could b her was early Tuesday morning.

After a very hot week-end the other company technician, Charlie, arrived. I did not tell Charlie anything about my previous experience, just asked him to diagnose the problem. Charlie came back telling the system was low on Freon, and he suspected that the dryer unit had a small leak. He suggested that we top-off the Freon, and to do a complete leak check when the weather cooled off again in the fall. Total cost, including 6 pounds of Freon: $317

In 2006, I hired Promag as my AC unit broke down on my rental home and they advised me that the entire machine needed to be replaced which they ended up replacing the entire unit in and out. They became my AC maintance company and performed yearly maintenance. In 2012, 6 years later, they advised my tenant that a new ac unit was needed because this one was wasting too much electricity and the machine needed to be updated due to the new regulations. I looked up the new regulations and that was not true. I hired another company as I was very upset that a new machine was needed and I was not trusting what they were saying, there is no way an AC machine only lasts 6 years. The company I hired advised me I was ripped off. There was leak on the machine and instead of checking for the leak, they kept charging me to replace the freon, this started in 2009, again freon was added in 2010. They also charged me for a leak coil which should have been under the warrant as this was within the 5 years, that must have been too much work for Promag to do and it was easier to just charge for a new coil. They also charge about $65.00 per vent for cleaning and the average cleaning, per vent, is a little over $20.00. I wonder if I needed a new AC machine from the beginning! i WOULD NOT RECOMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE!

I called up ProMag this weekend because I was hearing some loud noises from my unit. I was reluctant at first because they are not the company that usually fixes my unit but they were the only ones open all weekend. My neighbor recommended them to me so I decided to give it a try.

The technician was a little late but I understand things happen. Turns out my air filters were extremely dirty which is weird because the other company that I have been dealing with for years just did maintenance on my unit a few weeks ago - guess they didn't do there job.

As it turns out my unit is now clean and there are no more funny noises - knock on wood.

I will be definitely be calling ProMag if I have any other problems and for my annual maintenance checks because their techs actually know how to clean a air conditioning unit.
