Our A/C started to blow warm so I called Promag, the company that installed a brand unit when I moved in 5 years ago. At the time the unit was state of the art and was told it should last at least a decade. Just after the warranty period ended on a scheduled maintenance check it needed a evaporator ?? Payed to have that done. Just recently the air was blowing warm again, was hesitant but called Promag anyway. My wife was home alone when the tech came out and of course tried to sell her a new system. The condenser fan motor burned out. The tech said he needed to replace the motor and capacitor and install a starter kit that should have been installed when the unit was new. The bill was $950 and the tech was here for maybe a hour. The wiring was done on the outside of the unit and looked horrible, screws were left out and in the dirt. Turns out they didn't even replace the capacitor at all and the fan motor is $85 A starter kit is $50 and my wife was told he would installed it for free being that it should have been installed when the unit was installed. I've contacted management but no one seems to know how things are priced or what the hourly labor rate is.?? Its funny that the tech can price out a new unit and repair prices but management has no idea how there billing. No itemized bill, Jd or john hung up on me when I called on the phone. This is a company that will take advantage of you in a time of need and prey on people who don't know better.

I have not received any service from this company. This review is about my experience with them on a brief 1 minute call. Someone called me saying that they are on my street and want to schedule an appointment for AC tune up. I mentioned that I was in a meeting and politely asked this guy to call me back later (I did need someone to look at my AC). He said , ""no, because you are not in a meeting"".
I am glad that I did not entertain this rude person any longer. Also, I will never hire this company for any work.

My 2 day old HVAC is loud, expensive and the thermostat doesn't work.
They are very unprofessional!
Told me I would have to pay service charge if they come out.
WRONG! I have a warranty!
I give them 0 stars!

I received an unsolicited call from Promag. Since units needed a tune up, I decided( unwisely) to let the do it. Greg showed up later that day in unmarked truck ? He proceeded to look at my units.....fiddled around with some of the wiring, didn't change filters although I had them on hand. To the outside equipment......said my coolant was low in both units...did not have enough with him to fill both units.....also said I needed Hard start kits for each unit.....about $300 per unit he said......I later checked on line and most expensive ones I could find were $42....Greg left without leaving an invoice or work order.....I called JD the next day about the service.....he had Greg call me back.....still no work order or invoice....a month later.....had local dealer service my units.....said I did not need hard start units and one of my outside units had been overfilled with coolant.....surprise.....same one that Greg added coolant. Bottom line......I shall NEVER use this company again nor shall I recommend them..... I believe they are not honest.

Some telemarketer called me yesterday and scheduled an appointment for the next day between 8-9am. After reading all of the negative reviews on here I decided to call and cancel my appointment. Justine answered the phone. She didn't even ask me my name or address but tells me she'll cancel my appointment and hangs up. I call back and she answered again. I say don't you need my name and address? She tells me no because there is no appt scheduled for today between 8-9 and no one in your area is scheduled to come out. So if I hadn't called to cancel I would have been waiting on a service call that was never scheduled. Red flags from the beginning. Thanks to all who posted negative but honest reviews of this company. You saved me today.

Ah, what can I say about this company? So so much wrong with it and with the whole transaction. Well, as you can see from the 37 other reviews, this is obviously one company you cannot and should not work with.

We recently bought an air conditioning unit from this company, an Orlando based one. I was not available for the initial purchase, because if I was, I would have laughed them out of the house immediately. For starters, the technician Gregg decided to tell my grandmother misinformation that has led to a complete financial mess. He did not provide copies, save for one, of any of the legal papers she signed. He explained things in a confusing and unprofessional way. He was asked what would happen if she died, and he simply said it would go away. Right, a $7,000 bill will simply go away.

I thank the heavens that it was apparently installed correctly. At least, it passed inspection. For all I know, it could be a bad unit, or faulty in some way, and I do base that on the other reviews here.

No, the unit seems to be fine. The real probably is the billing and legal aspect of it. This company is very hard to reach, has someone who always answers with an unprofessional tone: ""What can I help you with today?"" As if I am unconviencing them by calling. The. It is very hard to reach someone, as I have been unable to get someone for weeks now, beginning with the first call to Synchrony, which I will get to. First it was an early release day, then a party, then something something something. Always giving me the reach around.

After many calls, I finally reached one of the managers there. I was assured they would check with Synchrony on whether we could pay FIRST on another card and THEN reverse the payment on this one. You see, I don't like to take food out of anyone's mouth, so I like to assure they get paid for the work they do and we have a favorable advantage. Unfortunately, this company does not care about YOU or your unit because once they get their money, that's how it is for them.

It was a very simple solution too. Money on one card first, so you get paid, and then just reverse the charge. Unfortunately, they must pay a dealer fee of sorts to the bank, so they could care less about our finances.

Now, see, the thing is normally I look at both sides. My grandmother made just a couple of mistakes, by not asking enough questions. Yes, but then at the same time, nothing was explained, and anything that was asked was simply tossed aside. Especially the one about her dying. It makes me mad to no end when companies look at the older generation and simply take advantage of them. And that is EXACTLY what happened in this case. I do not know if there is any legal course of action, but now I have to work with moving this from this card that was not properly explained, that there was no documentation given to her which she signed, and that we now have to deal with this as an issue, because the company does not care about it's customers. What matters is the fat paycheck, work be damned.

The funny thing is this easily could have been a 5 star review. In this case, even with all the mistakes of this stupid company, I could say ""Hey, they worked with us, awesome."". Instead, here is yet another aspect of greed.

If you're planning to buy an AC, I can assure you that it's probably better to go witout one in the Florida summer than to work with this company.

I will say, however, that at least from my end, this manager did in fact check into it. And they were polite the whole time. But, then, politeness is not enough if we cannot come to a solution for both parts. Hence the review, which probably doesn't matter, since you're a company with 37+ negative reviews and less than two stars. Yikes.

You hear every day about some despicable company that takes advantage of the Elderly! This is the poster child of such. My 94yr old Mom has used them for over 20yrs. Over the years She would get typical, your unit is old, a new one will be 5k to 10k+, Your circuit breaker box is outdated, and could cause a fire, if not updated for 2k+, that was over 4yrs ago; No subsequent tech has ever mentioned since. Three years ago they installed a new unit, 5k, used their financing promotion, and change the maintenance service to once a year instead of twice. A few weeks ago noticed the temp was 80°, the setting is 77°. The unit was not cycling on, checked breakers, nothing, lifted up the shutoff valve and it kicked in. Poured a pitcher of water down the tube, it went down freely. However, the unit would not cycle if the shutoff valve was in. We called the Orlando office 407-380-5560 a woman answered, I explained what was going on, She immediately said 'your drainpipe is clogged, its $110 for a service call.' Somewhat surprised, $110 for a 3yr old unit that you installed, and have been maintaining? ' If we got 25 calls today 15 of them are clog drainpipe,'. That is interesting! ' if you have a shop vac, you can try sucking or blowing the clog out and save the $110.'. We called back the next day to see when the last maintenance call was done, I recognized the voice of the woman from the day before, We were placed on hold and she came back with January this year was the last one, we asked how often do you recommend maintenance, the reply was twice a year. So lets scheduled a Maintenance call, ok it's $110 for the service call, I thought the Maintenance calls were $69? that's what we want. Placed on hold a few minutes later 'we can have a technician out to you in about 3hrs. I had Mom call when he arrived, less than ten-minutes later Mom calls back and puts the Rep on the phone, didn't catch a name but began to pitch the stupid customer speel, 'your coil is leaking refrigerant causing it to back up, it will need to be replaced, along with the refrigerant your looking at about $900, for labor and refrigerant that's not covered under the 6yr warranty. Thank you we'll get back with you. Mom called the office to clarify the $900 quote, She was placed on hold for a while, and I man came back and told Her ' We can do it for $500 whenever you are ready'. Great Job Promag may your elderly family members get the same type of service. So as I share this with everyone I can, I'm receiving some great recommendations for other HVAC companies. We don't know how long we'll be blessed with Mom, But we know for sure that we will never spend another dollar with Promag.

I'm a realtor, I called last night to get someone out after being cancelled on by an AC guy a day before my listing was supposed to close. They were able to get a guy out to check the AC and sign off on it the very next day. They were very professional, the AC repair man was very kind, and there were no hidden fees. Thanks Promag!
