Paul did a small job for me recently in advance of a roof replacement. He gives solid advice, reasonable pricing, is flexible in coordinating with other jobs/companies and is a cool guy. I definitely recommend him for your electrical work and will be hiring him again in the future.

I wanted to share my recommendation for Paul Hutton from PRH Electric. He just completed the upgrade of my panel and relocation of my electrical service and did an absolutely stellar job.

Paul is super easy going, friendly, professional, and does exceptional work. He took care of all the PG&E application and city permit processes and made the whole experience super stress-free for me. I had so many electricians to choose from, but I'm really glad I worked with Paul and will definitely work with him again in the future.

Paul Hutton is a true professional and a perfectionist. Paul has been our electrician for over 1-1/2 years in our 2 homes in Almaden Valley and he came to us highly recommended. Not only is Paul a pleasure to have in our home, his work is immaculate. He is highly professional and timely, courteous and personable, efficient, reasonably priced and extremely customer service oriented. Paul has always shown up on the dot and has always made us feel as we were his number one priority. He has gone over and above the call of duty, letting us know about a leak in our roof when in our crawl space so we were warned of upcoming issues that might arise, to detecting and informing us of electrical issues that could be hazardous to our family if not updated to code. We always know that Paul has our best interest at heart and there's no other electrician we would ever consider hiring.

I'd highly recommending finding a different electrician if your project involves aesthetics or lighting of any kind. Paul showed up late for the quote, but I hired him after he talked about how he would solve for the new dining room chandelier because I liked his initial thinking. Unfortunately, the job went south fairly quickly. The three or possibly four day job went on for four weeks and ended up costing over twice the original quote.

- Paul was late every day and left early every day, and charged for time he spent hanging around talking or eating lunch.
- Paul agreed to get materials and pass along his contractor discount. Not only did he not pass along his contractor discount, he charged his hourly rate for several home depot trips and then refused to itemize materials or provide any receipts at all.
- When asked about timeline and updated estimates, he shrugged and said 'it takes what it takes' without detailing anything helpful.
- He didn't finish the job I told him on day-one was the highest priority, and just said he would get around to it sometime later. I had to hire a new contractor to finish the committed work.
- He hung the chandelier 10-12 inches lower than industry standard for my ceiling height. He also modified the chandelier mounting with some strange rigged protrusion, instead of simply removing a chain link to level the fixture. I had to hire a contractor to remove, fix and replace the chandelier in a way that looks aesthetic.
- His four drywall cutouts were secured back into the wall with tight screws that made the box lines stick out 1-2 mm. I thought this looked pretty bad but he assured me his texture guy he worked with for many years knew exactly what to do. His texture guy, as it turns out, was someone he had never worked with and didn't know. He was also not licensed in anything. He initially came with a spray can of texture from Home Depot and did what I could have done myself. Needless to say, the box lines stood out clearly and were visible from 12+ feet away in any kind of lighting. Paul's texture guy returned twice to try to fix it, on one visit he didn't use drop cloth and sprayed plaster all over my upholstered furniture. After three visits he said yes he could see the lines, sorry he didn't know how to fix it, and he high tailed out of there. Fortunately, I know a texture guy who is an artist and he fixed up the problem over two visits and several hours of work. All in all, the drywall cutout problem cost me a small fortune and took 15 hours of work over 5 visits to resolve. Paul's response? Oh, hist texture guy did a great job and I didn't paint it right. Truly bizarre. What a disaster! I made a huge mistake in hiring Paul!
