First a little background: When we bought our house six years ago, the HVAC system had been replaced only a few months before. We were really excited about that because we thought (wrongly) that we wouldn't have any issues with it for a very long time. Not long after moving in though, the problems started. The outside coil was leaking and had to be replaced, something else was leaking, a fan in the attic went out, etc.
I actually had called Preferred out in 2017 when the fan went out but went with a different company because it was under warranty and the other company was just cheaper. At that time, Lucas came out and was great. It just came down to the money.
Two weeks ago our unit stopped cooling. Due to mild temps, we put off calling someone out. Finally decided to this week, initially calling the company that replaced the fan and then calling Preferred for a second opinion. Lucas came out again which was great because he is personable and we got a good, no-bs vibe from him. Unfortunately, our unit had no charge and little to no refrigerant which means there's a serious leak, likely with the upstairs coil, and it was going to be costly.
After all the problems we have had, we decided to get an estimate on replacing the whole system. The next day, we met with Robert (ask him about his horses!). He was awesome, straight-forward and helped us determine what unit would work best for us. After some discussion, my husband and I decided going with Preferred was the best thing for us due to their warranties and guarantees.
That was Saturday, Monday morning (today) the crew (Josh, Curtis, Jacob and the new guy whose name I missed) showed up early (btw, they send you a text when they're on the way with a pic and bio of the tech which is cool) and got right to work dismantling the old system and installing the new one. Chad, the install manager, stopped by too to check up on things. Everyone was really nice and professional. They all wear covers on their shoes and had a drop cloth for the carpet. Curtis installed a touch screen thermostat and gave us a quick, yet informative, tutorial on how to use it. The guys did a great job and we are really excited about having a properly installed and guaranteed system. Thank you to everyone we worked with and Chris, one of the owners, that we had a couple of conversations with too before making our decision to go with Preferred.

Signed up for a tune up of my AC. Tune up was today. Service technician was Josh Brown. He was very knowledgeable and communicative with me explaining in detail what he was doing, why, and truthful about the current condition of my unit. Being curious, I had questions, and he answered them in full and detailed. He provided me with repair estimates for potential/future areas that, according to the inspection/tune-up, maybe future problem areas for the unit. And he did so in a very confident but not pushy way. Being in sales myself, it is very refreshing to experience an honest assessment. Great experiences with Preferred and will continue working with them.

My home is under contract and I needed an expansion tank installed to bring the water heater up to code. Mike Lawshe was my tech and he was awesome! They were able to get me on the schedule for a Sunday, which was within 2 days of requesting an appointment so that the closing can keep moving along. Mike was courteous, knowledgeable and did quality work. This is my second time using Preferred Home Services and I'd recommend this company without a doubt! Prices were fair and they offer coupons on their site.

We just had another awesome experience with Preferred Home Services. Our Charleston home is under contract and there were some things that came up in the inspection report that needed to be addressed. Tara, the Office Manager review the list and worked with us to coordinate both an HVAC and Plumber technician to come the same day and time.
The technicians (both named Gary) were very professional and took care of exactly what was needed.
I can't recommend Preferred Home Services enough for HVAC and Plumbing needs. They are reliable and can be trusted at a fair price.

Had Preferred Home Services come out to do some plumbing for a kitchen renovation. The gentleman spoke a good game however, the work proved otherwise. They reported to their company that they were at my house for four hours when 1.5 hours of that time they were waiting on material AFTER the company stated all services truck are fully stocked! The quotes/prices were astronomical and surely did not reflect the quality of work requested. Felt also as if I was taken advantage price and knowledge wise as my husband was not home when they finished. The work was super botched and would NEVER use them again. My husband ended up doing the work to fix their crappy job and it costs us $30 in material NOT the $500 they wanted.

I I first contacted preferred home services for a routine plumbing check. The plumber who came to my home was very knowledgeable and thorough to ensure all of our plumbing was working properly. He recommended that I sign up as a preferred customer ($198) and so I did, as this membership also included a routine check of our HVAC system. I set up the appointment for the HVAC routine check and a service technician was dispatched. I was not very happy with how long the appointment for the HVAC routine check took. The tech was here for almost 3 hours!! I feel like if that is standard then the company should make you aware of that when you schedule the appointment. The technician was polite but seemed a little scattered. After he left he had a few recommendations but nothing major. Then that night, I noticed an issue with our cooling system. You could hear the system running but the fan never turned on! We had never had any issues prior to this technician coming out to see us. I was beyond frustrated with the fact that our air conditioning was not working. I quickly called the next morning and was dispatched a new technician, Michael Jackson. Michael was amazing. He arrived and very quickly corrected the issue which ended up being a loose wire (?!?). He was very knowledgeable and definitely the type of HVAC technician you would want. At first I was not going to give a very high review but Michael totally redeemed this company. I will request him for our HVAC needs in the future. Michael, thank you again!!

Discovered my outside spigot wouldn't turn off while heading out the door- was able to call and get a service person my way quickly! Nathan was friendly, professional and able to explain everything in a way that was easy to understand- would totally use them again

January 2018 I entered into an agreement with Preferred Services because I had an Heating issue with the snow/ice in Charleston. I entered into the agreement because the package was unbeatable and I paid for the package in advance. I mentioned to the tech that I needed a company that could come out early AM so I could get to work, because I normally work 12-14 hour days. He said when setting up services ask the CSR for the first service appointment slot. In late Feb or early Apr I scheduled for 8am 4/13/18 to check my AC to make sure it was ready for the summer. At 9:02am I call to speak with the office to see if the technician was on his/her way. I immediately was connected to dispatch and was told that the technician for my service was sent to pick up supplies and that she could not tell me a guaranteed time that he would arrive. This company needs to change their name from preferred. At no point did I feel like a preferred customer. No courtesy call, text, email to state that the tech would be running behind. My supervisor who recommended them was shocked that this happened to me. She was also shocked to listen in on my conversation with Tara, and Tara did not even provide an apology and even for my inconvenience this morning, they kept the $36 discount they provided me for getting the package back in January. Obviously this company cares more about their bottom line then the satisfaction of a customer that they owe a service too, that paid them 3 months earlier for services due. Well I happen to work with a lot of people who own their own townhouses, condo's and homes, I will make sure to spread the word about this experience. I wish I could give this review ZERO stars.

Ben is awesome! There were at least three plumbers who came out to try to fix a sewage backflow problem that caused backup in our neighbors home. Out of all the people who came out from different companies...Ben was the only one who not only fixed the problem for us, but for the two adjoining units that were told by the other plumbers that the water would be turned off for a few days until they can figure out the problem. So professional and incredibly smart! He came out on Easter Sunday and not once did he seem to be rushed or bothered by having to come out on a family holiday. Pricing was much lower than we had anticipated! Thank you Ben! Please give this man a good raise! He saved us so much money!
