We had Preferred starting Jan. 2018. The overall attention/contract was good. However we kept getting the impression that the intent of the plan was to find problems that had an expensive price tag to fix. The reps are overly polite and did not generate trust on our part. Impression was one of a used car dealer.

Plus, given Preferred's quote for repairs and new air conditioner, we decided to install a new system. There was no interest shown in providing a quote. Several calls to Tara (Mgr.) were ignored. We got a new Air Products system from another vendor.

Very prompt! I called this morning with an emergency backup in my kitchen and was taken care of by a very sweet representative named Ashley and was able to set up an appt for today!! Before the techs arrival I received a text informing me that my tech , Adam, was on his way and it included his picture.. I think that is wonderful to do that so the homeowner knows who will be arriving . Adam was very professional, he asked if he could come in and covered his shoes and was very polite and had all the manners! Whoever raised him did a good job!! I will definitely use Preferred Home Services again and will request Adam .

I am about a month late leaving this review. Not because the service was bad but because I was lazy. Jeremy visited my home in December to discuss some needed work. He offered to stay and do the work while he was there but we agreed to schedule for a different day. He brought a newly hired employee (I forgot his name but he had recently relocated from Florida) and they immediately go to work. The were efficient, friendly and performed the tasks exactly as described in the time frame stated. I agreed to use them for my annual HVAC services and am pleased we had the opportunity to work together. Thanks Jeremy and ""new guy"".

We called Preferred Home Services because they were the quickest to come out, but now I know why.

Wanted $600+ to ""fix"" our sink and laundry room drain that was backing up. He didn't offer any other alternatives other than to make a clean out under our kitchen sink when we have had 2 other companies come to our house in 15 years to snake our drains no questions asked.

Charged us $49 to look under our sink with a light from his phone and it took longer for him to write an invoice than any ""work"" that was done. (When discussing the one option he said our house was on a slab, when in fact it's a crawl space and then he starts asking me questions about our pipes underneath.)

Happy Holidays?!?!

UPDATE: RotoRooter came out 2 hours later and snaked our kitchen drain and had our issue fixed within 30 minutes. RotoRooter, specifically Garrick, thank you for fixing the problem and for doing it for a 1/3 of the cost. Told him the problem, he gave us 3 options and he did his job in a timely and professional manner.

REPLY TO PREFERRED HOME SERVICE RESPONSE BELOW: You are correct, the cost was given upfront. However, I was given only one option, for $600+ when all I needed was my drain to be snaked. Yes, a clean out would be convenient..... for you to make money and for the next plumbing company easier access to snake the drain BUT it does not benefit me at all. RotoRooter unscrewed a few pipes under the sink and was able to properly do their job without a clean out being installed. I am so disappointed, and I feel for other customers that are told they need this when there are other cheaper alternatives.

I recently used this company for a small plumbing repair job. The technician was very friendly and knowledgeable. I was not very impressed that they charge you before do a job quote though.
My repair job was done pretty quickly to my satisfaction. However I did think the price
that was changed was very expensive for a small repair job.
Also check their website for coupons. They have some that can save you some money.

In the handful of appointments that we have had with Preferred, I cannot remember a single time where the technician showed up within the specified time window. Often our appointment is delayed because an emergency comes up (without notice until the window is already over) and today our job was too big after the technician already had another too big job before ours, so he left. Communication is not great when promised appointments are not going to be kept and it is aggravating and disrespectful. We have lost many hours of wasted leave from work because of this repeat issue.

We had some condensation on our AC unit in the attic so I had made an appt with preferred. Derek Lemon was our technician and he looked at the unit and said the seal was loose which it was a little bit. But then he said our refrigerant was ""extremely low"" and the coil was frozen and reading 32 degrees. He quoted us $2800 or $2400 if we subscribed to some maintenance plan all on top of the $80 we paid for the service call. He also did a quote for $1517 to replace a freaking drain pan that he told my wife was ""rusty"" which it was not. It just had a little rusty water in it. I called another company for a second opinion. This tech said our refrigerant R410 was within parameters but he topped it off. He said the coils were not frozen in fact they were at 40 degrees and looked fine. He did a slight adjustment to a floating baffle and sealed up the unit better. Final cost $140. This guy from preferred tried to take advantage of my wife since I was at work. Do not recommend.
