Id like to give this guy a fair shake but im a lil upset after I got this job done for far less time and money than he gave as a quote.

I have an interior door i called him about hanging. He asked the proper questions on what is needed for the job.
Its a simple chisle the the two hinges to fit the door, shim the bottom to hang thats it. I bought the door slab bored for the handle and striker and installed the handle. He told me 65$ an hour was his rate. Np n he only lives 2 miles away. I said cool when can u be here n he said at that point that he charges a 2 hour min.

So a Im guessing at this point he just didnt want to do the job or because of where i live he thought he could charge more.

So instead of hiring him for $130 I decided to look up how to chisle the hinges n hang the door myself on youtube for free. Hung the door my self in under 20 mins. Sooo glad I did.

So one star for him as he was the reason i decided to do it myself.

I read other reviews that said beware of the price raping and I'd have to say that weather that is a correct analogy or mot it was the feeling I got.

Side note I also installed my own disposal a while back with an upgraded one and with a dishwasher n it only took me 35 mins. Just saying.

So take it however you like, I just want my neighbors to to know youtube might be a great option or another handyman who does want to work no matter how small the job.
To you the handyman- you could have had $65 and a 5 star review, your loss.

First of all Carleton was not only on time but early. So that already earned him a star in my book before he even got started on my project.

I hired him from what I thought was a simple electrical project in my bathroom, but given that my house was built in 1912 there are always surprises with an older home. Carleton handled things like a pro! Very knowledgable and efficient. To be a relatively young man he seems has the wisdom and experience of someone twice his age.

Added bonus - he is so neat and clean not only in his professional demeanor and how he leaves your house.

I now already have a list of future projects for Carleton at both my home and workplace. So many times as a woman, I have felt cheated and taken advantage of by handymen. I don't have to worry about that with Carleton.

A true Wolf in Sheep's Clothing. Acts like a gentleman. Well spoken. However, he'll rip you off given the chance. Provided me a quote to perform a job in 3 hours ~ two hundred dollars worth of labor. Instead I just called someone from home depot and they did it in 30 minutes flat. It doesn't take 3 hours to replace a garbage disposal!

Ok! So Carlton is awesome, peeps!
The online communication (e-mail) was punctual and prompt. We set up an appointment ahead of time as he was traveling. He came on time to the second - I am not kidding! He was here at 8:15AM. I love punctual people - so easy to work with them. Our project involved replacement of an old stainless steel security door, with a new one and two dead bolts on our gate and the new security door. Carlton did an outstanding job and had to grind like crazy the door (the cavity was filled with concrete!) :)
He has a very easy going personality and puts you at ease, so if anyone has ""home repair anxiety"", Carlton is your man. Very honest and simply great person to work with.
We strongly recommend him, even though we really don't want him to get too much popularity before we are done with our house projects! :)
