Anne H. 6/16/16- I emailed Carlton today for help with my bedroom fan which quit working. He couldn't have done a better job. I was desperate because I needed the fan for health reasons. Carlton called back within an hour asked few questions and suggested that I needed a new fan. He came out that day within an hour after I picked up a new fan. I am disabled and I needed the fan with light and remote so I could sleep at night without pain. He checked the old fan first to make sure it no longer worked before replacing it. He was kind, professional and knowledgeable. He helped me out of a difficult situation. He couldn't have done a better job. He protected my floor when putting the fan together and was done within two hours. He changed an old light switch without changing me because he had one. I have used him in the past and will continue to use him. I won't use anyone else. He's fantastic!

Carlton helped me put together some new furniture and take apart some old furniture to be sold. He did a great job. He was punctual and got everything done quickly. I'll definitely hire him again in the future.

Just had a great experience with Carlton installing a whole house fan. There were a few issues having to do with installing modern hardware in my 1930 house. He explained all the issues and had great solutions for each of them. The job was done well and the fan works great!

Couldn't be happier. I had a number of miscellaneous things to do - tear out a pedestal sinkand replace it w a vanity, install lighting, put in new towel bars, etc - he was super helpful, very professional, and friendly. Work was very nicely done. I will definitely use him again.

We recently used Carlton to replace the base boards in our home. I emailed him and he responded within 24 hours confirming he could do the work. He gave us options of things we could do and things he could do. He quoted us an hourly rate. We agreed upon a day and time and confirmed he would perform the work. On the day he was to arrive he was 15 minutes but called to let us know. When he arrived he was polite and respectful. He got straight to work and finished the job in 3 hours. My husband and I don't like doing things around the house. We appreciate being able to call on someone we can trust. He did a great job. We would absolutely use Carlton for other things around the house.

I called and left a message and was directed to send an email, which I did. Carlton responded and we discussed my to do list. We scheduled an appointment. Prior to the appointment, we emailed to make sure that he knew what I wanted and that he had the necessary tools. He arrived on time, was very professional, and worked incredibly hard. I really appreciated that he checked in with me about hanging curtain rods into lath and plaster, made recommendations and they look brilliant. He also removed exterior window bars. I am so grateful that they are gone. I highly recommend Carlton and am working on another to do list.

Had Carlton come by my business in Oakland to mount a very heavy plaque on the wall. He showed up a few minutes EARLY, was very professional and efficient. Got the job done quickly and the plaque looks great on my wall. I would not hesitate to call on him again. Would highly recommend him to anyone in need of a handyman.

We had Carlton come out to spackle, prime and repaint holes that were left by old curtain rods that were poorly installed throughout the house. Carlton asked all the relevant questions on the phone and quoted me an approximate time it would take to complete the work as well as his hourly rate. He was on time, did an amazing job so you couldn't ever tell there were holes in our walls, and finished an hour faster than expected; and because Carlton finished early, he ended up charging me less than quoted.

For all the negative reviewers who are upset about Carlton's quotes over the phone; understand that Carlton simply provides an estimate that takes certain unknowns into account, something any intelligent professional would do. The last thing anyone wants is to be low-balled on a quote and have the job cost two to three times what was estimated. An ESTIMATE is exactly that, so please cut a true professional and a quality guy some slack, especially when you don't understand how estimates work.

Lastly, I also asked Carlton about some other work around the house and he was very upfront that it wasn't in his expertise and I would be better off hiring someone with that skill-set for the job. That honesty was sincerely appreciated and I highly recommend him to friends and family as I would anyone here on Yelp!

So many great reviews, but I contacted him via his preferred email to ask a few questions including his rate, and he wrote back that he was booked this week, then would be on vacation for two weeks. Ok, but... He didn't answer even one question. None of my projects are timely, so I would have been happy to hire him in a month. But not now. Sheesh!

I've worked with Carlton twice. He has installed trim, replaced a light fixture, fixed a hinge, hung a light fixture and mounted my television. He works hard and is very professional. He always returns messages on time. Would definitely recommend his services.
