Carlton is a wonderfully skilled handyman who has done three jobs for our Laurel district condo. The first was a MAJOR job, transforming a bathtub into a shower, doing the plumbing and putting up the stone. Took three days and it looks beautiful! Add two more great jobs with a garbage disposal and resurfacing/painting/rewiring some electrical stuff and he has done a great job.

So even though he told me that he has too much business as it is, I will add one more glowing review!

OMG!!! Carlton is AMAZING!! I've had a list of things swirling around in my head and on pieces of paper for so long.....and could never quite get a good recommendation from friends. So I went with Yelp...and I'm so glad I did. Carlton had soooo many 5 star reviews, I called him. He did take a couple of days to get back to me due to his busy schedule, but then worked me in within the week. He suggested I prioritize my extremely long ""to do"" list which was really helpful. He started with a number of things in the garage as I am converting some of the space to a gym. He hung some new equipment and mirrors to my concrete walls, which now looks so professional! He also took some time to assess how to get our bikes hung....not an easy task....no left over wall space and ceilings 11 feet high. He didn't want to do a clunky job with 2 by 4's, but it was also a key piece for me to feel like i had the space cleared out as I envisioned. He stuck with it and came up with a great idea using the kind of metal poles used to hang the garage. It was a fabulous idea that I never thought of over many months of trying to figure out how to get the bikes hung. And it blends fabulously with the existing concrete and metal in the garage!

Carlton also re-attached a kitchen door cabinet that has been an annoyance since it fell off several years ago. He is coming back in 2 weeks to do some other inside projects and to fix to fence gate problems.

Carlton is great!! He is friendly, professional, KNOWLEDGEABLE, with a ton of experience. He can just look at something and figure out the best way to do things. He is in my cell phone now and I hope he stays in business forever so I never have to worry about who to call for these kinds of things in the future. Thank you Carlton!!! See you in a couple of weeks.

Thanks Yelp for helping me find Carlton. I created a significant hole in the wall when I opened a door too quickly -- a door without a door stopper. First order of business: fix the wall. Next, buy a door stopper!

Echoing what others have mentioned, Carlton was very punctual, professional, kind and skillful. He walked me through the process of what needed to be done and did a great job patching the hole. We have a funky texture on the wall and he did his best to match it. Like a true professional, he gave me suggestions regarding what we could do if it later turned out that we didn't feel the wall texture was a good enough match. But no need, job well done!

I'm adding myself to the list of folks who say they consider him their handyman. He's ours now, too!

I don't think that this service, by Carlton Muyhammad, is quite who I'll ever try again. Arriving somewhat late, with a gentle voice and manner, he refused to repair water damage, replacing wall board and was fussy about not cleaning out gutters that were just one story from the ground that I've done as a middle aged woman! After searching others after he left I see that his rate of $55. an hour is 20 more an hour than most others! Wowzers. What was I thinking when influenced by all those reviews?

He's afraid of spiders. Having waited for more than a week knowing that they were here, after arriving he then said that it was ""too late in the day to start"", offering to come by the next morning. As we went down the stairs, the job then became ""next week"", etc. Up here in the hills of Montclair we accept the fact that there are spiders. Yes, there's a bumper crop this year but I've had an exterminator examine the area and it was declared ""ready to work on"" by him. I'm quite disgusted and wonder as to this man's work ethic.

I'd avoid him despite the other reviews. Now I must replace everything in my closet and wait again for someone else. I'm shocked at his lack of professionalism.

Carlton is MY handyman now. He can do anything and he does it skillfully and with a smile. He is also very reasonable @ $55/hour! Carlton arrives on time, brings tools, has all kinds of inventory in his van to replace your worn out items (electrical switches, etc.), cleans up the mess, and locks up. You don't have to be home, you can trust him.

Carlton was terrific. He kept in touch with me over email while we determined when he could come to our office from small carpentry projects. He was punctual, courteous and very friendly. He was a pleasure to have in our office and best of all, he did a great job on all of our projects and completed them in a timely manner. I would definitely have Carlton come back to our office anytime.

I found Carlton on Yelp with his stellar reviews and was crossing my fingers that he could come in on short notice to patch and paint a rental unit that needed to be ready in a few days. An hour after I left him a message on his phone, he returned my call and was able to schedule a full day within the week. I think I was just lucky there - I can imagine his popularity.

He arrived on time, and even gave me a courtesy call before coming over. He valued my time and honored the appointment. I can't say the same for other tradespeople I've met (hence the reason I had to look up another handyman so last minute).

The work he did was spectacular. I called him to fix 2-3 cracks, and paint 1-2 patches, but in the end he helped fix up over a dozen large cracks and found ways to avoid unnecessary costs (ex. cutting a smaller hole and smoothing out a buckled wall, rather than cutting out a huge chunk and taking longer and costing more). He also gave me the option of texturing my walls, and let me decide what I wanted to do, instead of forcing an idea so that it would be more costly. The results were great - I couldn't have been more pleased.

Near the end of the day, I was running late and had to leave before Carlton was finished. Carlton insisted that he clean up before leaving, and offered to turn off the lights and lock the door behind him once he was done. I came back an hour later, and the unit was immaculate, the door was locked, and I knew that we had just found ourselves the perfect handyman.

Courteous, conscientious, professional, reliable. Look no further for a great handyman. Thanks, Carlton!

Once again, Yelp has been instrumental and this time in finding a wonderful, home repair specialist! Carlton is trustworthy, honest, warm and kind. We were extremely pleased with his work, his sound advice and for being meticulous. He was even conscientious about the time. I have never used the same person twice for repairs on our home because we never found a solid, reliable person. Carlton is programmed in my phone as our go to guy from now on and we will definitely be referring him to family and friends.

What can I say that hasn't already been stated in all of his reviews. Carlton was punctual, courteous and very knowledgeable. He took care of numerous nagging projects for me (they would have taken me hours to complete) and did them in a short amount of time. I will not hesitate to call him again in the future.
