PowerDown emphasizes household energy evaluations to support residents discover the factors contributing to increased electricity expenses and find strategies to reduce their bills. Each audit includes an in-depth examination of electrical circuits and significant devices using energy monitoring tools, accompanied by a detailed report that includes advice.
PowerDown was founded to fulfill the demands of residents looking to lower utility expenses and lessen energy consumption. Through examining the market landscape, it was apparent that many options were available for businesses to analyze and lower electricity bills, however there were limited services for homeowners. Even in 2010, homeowners had limited resources to analyze how electricity was consumed in the household.
PowerDown was created to address this gap and has realized that it can typically reduce the energy costs for homeowners by between 10 and 20 percent. We work together with energy efficiency auditors, builders, renewable energy installers, and others to offer clients a complete solution to effective energy reduction.
PowerDown is overseen by our founder Chris Hunt, a dedicated supporter of alternative energy and energy conservation. Before starting PowerDown, Chris invested a successful 25 years in the high-tech industry, serving in multiple leadership positions at SVB, the software giant Adobe, and Oracle alongside numerous emerging companies.

John C.I called PowerDown after my electric bill had gone through the roof and we couldn't determine what was wrong. This was particularly annoying since I had both solar generation and solar hot water production. After Chris from PowerDown came out he discovered that my electric hot water heater was running constantly (bad solar water heating temperature sensor) and my hot water recirculation pump needed a timer. It's only been a week but my net daily kilowatt usage has dropped from over 40 kWh/day to under 10. The next bill will show a dramatic difference. Chris is well informed on power issues. He has stayed involved in the entire process of analysis and problem solution. I am very pleased.

Eric M.Chris from Power Down was great. I originally got his name from another home energy auditing company. They did not do the type of electrical auditing that Chris does. Chris came out to my house twice due to a rather unusual set up of my electrical panels. I initially thought I might be able to set up the TED 5000 to monitor my electrical consumption, but good thing I got him to do it, cause it turned out to be more complicated than I could have figured out. I am looking forward to my full audit report and using the TED 5000 to get a handle on why my bills have been so high. I had looked around quite a bit before callling Power Down, and I would recommend Chris to anyone in the same situation.
