PowerDown emphasizes residential energy audits to assist property owners determine the reasons behind elevated energy costs and implement methods to cut those costs. Every evaluation consists of a thorough analysis of circuits and major appliances using energy monitoring tools, accompanied by a detailed report that includes recommendations.
PowerDown originated to meet the demands of residents seeking to reduce their energy bills and minimize environmental impact. Through examining the market landscape, it became clear that many options were available for businesses to evaluate and lower utility costs, however there were limited services for individual households. As of 2010, there existed few tools to analyze the consumption of electricity in their homes.
PowerDown was initiated to fill this gap and has realized that it can typically lower homeowners' energy bills by up to 20%. We work together with performance auditors, contractors, solar energy professionals, to create a network to deliver clients a complete solution to real energy efficiency.
PowerDown is managed by Chris Hunt, a dedicated supporter of sustainable energy and efficient energy use. Prior to establishing PowerDown, Chris invested 25 years of his career in the tech sector, occupying several management roles at Silicon Valley Bank, Adobe, along with Oracle Corporation in addition to various startups.

John C.I called PowerDown after my electric bill had gone through the roof and we couldn't determine what was wrong. This was particularly annoying since I had both solar generation and solar hot water production. After Chris from PowerDown came out he discovered that my electric hot water heater was running constantly (bad solar water heating temperature sensor) and my hot water recirculation pump needed a timer. It's only been a week but my net daily kilowatt usage has dropped from over 40 kWh/day to under 10. The next bill will show a dramatic difference. Chris is well informed on power issues. He has stayed involved in the entire process of analysis and problem solution. I am very pleased.

Eric M.Chris from Power Down was great. I originally got his name from another home energy auditing company. They did not do the type of electrical auditing that Chris does. Chris came out to my house twice due to a rather unusual set up of my electrical panels. I initially thought I might be able to set up the TED 5000 to monitor my electrical consumption, but good thing I got him to do it, cause it turned out to be more complicated than I could have figured out. I am looking forward to my full audit report and using the TED 5000 to get a handle on why my bills have been so high. I had looked around quite a bit before callling Power Down, and I would recommend Chris to anyone in the same situation.
