I wish I could give this company zero stars. Sure they answer the phone. They arrive in a timely manner but their prices are astronomical. They collect their service call fee and give you a quote in the thousands for a simply job that was matched in the hundreds. I called the company to complain and they guy said I was ""on a tirade"" then said ""you know what, you're a jerk."" and hung up on me. This is not the way to conduct business with people.

Called several days in advance to make an appointment. No one showed up. The window of time I was given was 11 to 2. At 2:00, I got a call that they would be a half hour late. Never showed up after another 45 minutes. I called and cancelled. Would not recommend. Not very customer oriented.

Called Powell Electric at noon on August 21 and reported a problem with the ceiling light in my kitchen. They called me back to confirm an appointment @ 3:00 pm the same day. Doug Edwards showed up on time. Professional, courteous and capable. Fixed the problem at the rate quoted and was very helpful.

DON'T DO IT! Take it from me. I should have read the Yelp reviews first. Duh.

Since I can't give 0 stars, I guess Powell deserves 1 star for responsiveness. They came (late), gave me an outrageous price to rewire the entire house (whose electric was upgraded 3 years ago) in order to fix a switch, collected their $70 and skipped out without doing any actual work.

I've FB'ed about it, now Yelp, next BBB. You've been warned. Arrrgh!

I agree- terrible bait and switch!
I did need my panel replaced, but they quoted TWICE what the other two estimates I got were going to be! A TOTAL SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have used Powell Electric twice this year. They are on time, professional, and explain what they are doing in language that is easily understood. I would feel confident reccomending them.

Total scam! They came out and told us that our work would cost $6,000. We later had the work done for $150 through another provider.

Don't be fooled by their goofy commercials and mailer coupons .

I had flickering lights in part of my house. They quoted me way too much for the parts to replace a single circuit breaker. When I expressed surprise, they told me they can just leave then and I can take my chances my house won't burn down. WOW. As I was at work and my mother-in-law was home alone, I decided to pay up. THEN, the flickering continued when I got home! After I gave them an earful, they sent a second repairman who properly re-installed the breaker. They never apologized or even admit they screwed up.

The sad thing is my neighbor saw the Powell Electric truck in front of my house and thought I liked them. She called them about fixing her low wattage Malibu lights. They charged her over $1500 to change the bulbs in Malibu Lights and install a plug-in transformer! Two guys stood around for hours in her front yard, racking up the $$$$.

In short, over-priced, sloppy work and not professional - I do not recommend.

Quoted me an outrageous $2800 for a simple hottub electric hookup over 10 feet. Refused to break down the price in terms of labor / parts. I'm pretty sure these guys are just a scam to collect the 99 call out fee.
