An overhead light fixture wasn't working in our house. I paid Powell Electric to come and assess the problem. They said they could fix it for $4,400.00. I called another electrician who came and fixed it for $150.00; labor and materials. It was the switch. No wonder they've been in business since 1949. They only need a couple of suckers a week.

What a rip-off. They won't give you an estimate over the phone, even when you tell them exactly what you need. They come out and charge you a $100 trip fee and then give you a ridiculous, rip-off price. I needed 6 wall sconces installed, they quoted me $1,600!!!!!! Do yourself and your pocketbook a big favor and find an electrician who will give you a reasonable estimate and won't rip you off.

Needed a 200amp panel and rewiring of a 1400 sqft house.

These guys wanted $80,000!!!! Other bids were around $12-15k. Absolute trash.... And they charge you $100 to come out to waste your time.

I don't actually know if they're good or not. What I do know is that they're over-priced. All I needed were two light switches changed so that a bathroom fan didn't automatically come on and the same with a motion detector light. I wanted simple on/off switches instead. They came out and said it would cost $400. I asked if this was a difficult thing to do. The reply, ""No, it's very easy. We're just expensive."" I said never mind and still got charged $79. Called another electrician and had it done for $130.

$890.
Company refused to give a breakdown of the cost i.e. Labor and material .
Nor did they give me a fixed price before doing the work .

I just had one of Powell Electric's electricians at our home and when he left our home ai turned to my wife and said ""this was one of the best experiences I have ever had with anyone that did work in our home"". Powell sent us a gentlemen who has been with the company for more than 20 years. His name is, Doug, and he was simply in jus one word ""INCREDIBLE "". Doug walked with me around our home and I pointed out several concerns my wife and I had and as I did he took notes and asked questions, some I could answer and others I was not quite sure about. Doug was very patient and extremely diligent in finding out what the issues were that we needed to have fixed. Not only was he a great electrician, he was just as nice and kind as anyone could possibly be. He managed to find ways to completely fix some of the issues and one will need to be tended to next week. Frankly, I am looking forward to having Doug retuned because he was such a sweet guy along with being one heck of an electrical genius. Based on this experience, and the experience other family members have had when working with the folks at Powell Electric, I can without a moments hesitation recommend their company to anyone in need of excellent, qualified, and reasonably priced electrical electrical work throughout your home. Thanks Doug for making this one of the best experiences I have ever had from someone working at our home.

I must also add that when I called to arrange an appointment the gentlemen that helped me was extremely pleasent and most accommodating. Beginning early this morning Powell Electric called me to let me know where Doug was and when he would arrive at our home. He arrived here exactly on schedule which was also very impressive!

I filled out a form online for service, received an e-mail that they received it and someone would be in contact with me. It's been five days and no response.
No response has been received. I hired another company to do the job. Will never contact them again.

The lights were out (months) upstairs and I have received over the phone estimates from other companies, Powell turned out to be most reasonable of them all. The guy came out (Luis Figueroa). Here is the part that upset me the most remember this have not worked for months Luis shows up and put a bulb in and the darn thing starts working. I have put in several bulbs in and nothing he shows up and uses the same bulb I have in the past and it works. The cost of a service call. I would recommend Powell electric to family and friends. Just wish there was something for the guy to work on then screw in a light bulb.
