It's never fun when you have to call a plumber, a roofer or an electrician, and their reliability can make it frustrating. It was refreshing to find Positively Electriic. I had needs, a lot of needs. This light didn't work, four out of five lights in this bank didn't work, even when it all did work it wasn't nearly bright enough.... The smoke detectors were all old and kept failing so we removed them months ago. The car charger wasn't charging correctly, etc, etc.
They assured me current to my car charger was just fine and that it could be a problem with the car's software or programming. Also told me I could safely upgrade to a bigger wall unit.
My lighting was a 25 year old system so they retrofitted 11 of the light units, removing transformers and reworking the existing boxes to accept modern fixtures. This increased the light output 100% or more. They replaced a couple dimmers and added one so all the lights can be adjusted to our needs. These new lights can also be adjusted at the fixture to fine tune brightness and increase or reduce ""warmth"". I feel so happy we now have a current up-to-date system that has the energy efficiency of the current decade.
I loved how responsive they were and that they showed up at 7:45 for the 8:00am appointment. They were done with all the repairs and upgrades by the end of the day.
I wouldn't call them inexpensive but I would most certainly call them fairly priced considering the quality of their work and satisfying all of my requests.

Noticed lights flickering on one circuit in house. Measured voltage and noted it would drop pretty significantly under load. Sent a note via yelp at 11pm and had something scheduled for 1pm by 8am the next morning! Danny (I think that was his name) showed up promptly and didn't waste time jumping right in. He quickly checked the panel, swapped out a bad breaker, and was done in prolly less than 20 minutes. Couldn't be more happy with his professionalism and knowledge. Everything's hooked back up and operating perfectly and safely. I wouldn't hesitate to call them again!

Their website isn't working so call them. Noah came out and installed a fire/smoke detector and an additional outlet that required some moving of furniture and wall work. He was terrific and capable.
Highly recommend. Also locally owned which I like.

We have had electrical troubles in our jacuzzi, since we bought the house (with the jacuzzi) almost 25 years ago. The jacuzzi routinely flipped itself off, so we were always going to the breaker box and flipping it back on. At one point, about 23 years ago, we paid a Goleta-based electrician over $2,000 to dig up the garden and replace all the conduit to the jacuzzi, which is what he said the problem was. That fixed it for less than 6 months, until the first rain, and then it spent the next 20 years flipping itself off again both in rain and sunshine.
The jacuzzi died about 2 years ago and we just replaced it last month. Prior to the installation of the new spa, we reached out to Positively Electrical to check the electrical to the spa, to make sure sufficient power was reaching the slab. They were super responsive and Oliver and Scott came right away. We requested they install a 60-amp breaker, which the spa tech materials indicated.
Fortunately, that breaker didn't arrive before the spa installation, because when the spa was installed, the spa company told us that actually, they recommended a 50-amp breaker, which is what we already had. During the installation, the installers were unable to complete installation when they determined that the old electrical, which came out of the middle of the slab was not positioned to access the new spa and that we would instead need a junction box installed in the garden to power the spa.
Positively Electrical came back out right away, but there was a communication breakdown between my husband and me and they left due to our indecisiveness about where we wanted the junction box placed. Two hours later, I reached out to them again and they returned. Oliver and Scott patiently helped hubby and me come to an agreement on where and how the junction box should be placed for the new spa. They handled our communication breakdown and subsequent sorting it all out like pros. They had to have been frustrated with us (I know I would have been!), but they never let it show and were INCREDIBLY patient and kind with us. Seriously, they were far more patient than I ever would have expected them to be with us.
It then took another week to get the spa installer to come back and connect the spa. We got to enjoy one spa and damn if the power didn't flip off again, just like with the old spa. Hubby called P.E. to discuss it and they all determined that the 50-amp gfci breaker needed to be replaced and they were right! Once Positively Electrical replaced the 50-amp breaker, we have had no further problems with power to the spa. Everything looks professionally finished and is working perfectly for the first time in almost 25 years.
This review wouldn't be complete without 2 additional notes. First, their communication is outstanding. When you call, someone answers the phone. Their office person with whom I spoke - I didn't catch her name - was super efficient and knowledgeable about our ""case."" Whenever she told me someone would be in touch, they always were. Also, all of them, the woman in the office and the electricians, all communicated with us via text, which was super helpful. They'd send a text if they were running 10 minutes late or when the breaker hadn't arrived yet. Every step of the way, they were in constant communication, so we never felt that we were hanging out at home waiting for a return call or an electrician to arrive.
Secondly, their billing is reasonable and super easy to manage. They use Joist, a contractor's billing app to email your bill. From that email, you just click to pay the bill and it's easy to pay with another click through PayPal. The payment interface also displays a very detailed invoice with notes from the technician about what was discussed and agreed to at the visit. Again, this goes back to their thorough communication, which I really appreciated.
I will definitely call Positively Electrical the next time we need an electrician. It was such a refreshing and new experience to call an electrician and to be met with such a high level of responsiveness. Thank you, Positively Electrical!

Oliver, Noah, & Josh were all easy to work with, responsive to questions, professional, timely, and did solid work in replacing two electrical sub-panels in our business. They will most definitely be my first call the next time I require any electrical work and my first recommendation for anyone else that asks me for an electrical contractor and electricians I trust.

I used this company twice. Besides the lengthy time to get an appointment, I had no problem with the employees who came out.The issue is when they left that day a bank of lights on my driveway did not work plus two other lights did not turn on. I immediately called that night. They ignored me. I called again and eventually they sent two men out for over an hour for a burned out light and the GFI tripped. Then I get a bill for close to $100. I disputed the bill as the job $1400 was already paid but something did not work and the owner wrote this stupid explaination why I need to pay again. Despite my efforts, the owner chose greed over customer service and refused to even address the double billing. I paid but now another bank of lights are out. I will call a reutable electrican now. DO NOT HIRE this company. They are POSITIVELY HORRIBLE!

Positively Electrical came to check out the electrical wiring before I have a replacement wall oven installed. They arrived on time and checked everything out. They went beyond the call by preparing the wiring for when the oven installers come. It was all quick and easy. A very positive experience for me. I will use them again when I next need electrical work done.

I've lived in Santa Barbara for 90 years, and dealt with a lot of local electrical-problem companies through the decades. In my long experience,
Positively Electrical tops them all. Enough said? Much more below:
My husband and I recently tried Positively Electrical for the first time.
Unlike so many electrical helpers, this company actually picks up its phone and talks to you, and makes an appointment on the spot -- without a long wait for the visit. (Others, these difficult days, either take time to respond, only to play telephone tag with you, or never call you back at all.)
Our problem was a challenging one, requiring complicated new wiring to do with office electronic equipment. Different components had to be
somehow separated onto multiple power lines where only one existed.
After quite a few professional electricians had worked on figuring out the solution to the problem, Positively Electrical's Danny produced the genius
answer -- running a secondary wire from an exterior irrigation timer through the wall into the office area -- and DONE. (This avoided much more expensive re-wiring, or else running an ugly connecting wire from elsewhere, up and down over a doorway, in plain view.) Thank you, Danny! (and Josh!)
At the same time, Positively Electric's Scott and associate installed eight
super-modern ceiling can-light fixtures with some kind of super-modern bulbs, with dimmers, that will never require attention again.
Thank you, Positively Electric!

Positively Electrical installed recessed lighting in our two bedrooms. They were quick, professional, cleaned up afterwards, and reasonably priced. Lighting works perfectly. We will definitely hire them again for any electrical work needed in our home.

Had a GFI breaker go out on me which took out my electricity in my home office. Called, they said that their next opening was 1 week out which is understandable with the current rain storms causing schools to shut down etc... Got an email back 45 minutes later letting me know that someone could come out same day. Fast repair, clean, professional. Future electrical needs/projects will go through PE. thanks.
