Joshua M.Erik specializes in the finishing touches for a home. He helped us with several light installations, lighting ideas that were insightful and we ran with, and home audio. I highly recommend PoorBoy Electric & Lighting.
I was so impressed with Eric at PoorBoy Electric and Lighting. He did something amazing that I have personally never seen or heard of before regarding a contractor. I called to have a repair done. Eric, while we were still on the phone, guided me for making the fix (it was easy enough). No charge. Eric had all rights to come out, do the fix and be paid a fair service charge. Now that is integrity and professionalism at its best! You can be sure Eric and PoorBoy Electric will be getting my next electrical job!
Scott T.Eric wired my house when I did a complete renovation to the studs. As I keep adding projects over the years he has always been incredibly reliable, efficient, and kind. He can absolutely be trusted for any job big or small. He has gone out of his way for me so many times, I would never even think of using another electrician. He is head and shoulders above anyone else. If you are looking for an electrician, look no further!
We needed an electric car charger installed in the garage and are very glad we found PoorBoy Electric for the job. When I first called PoorBoy, Erik answered all my questions so that I was sure of ordering the correct part for our needs. The installation itself could not have gone more smoothly. Erik arrived right on time, was efficient in his work, and explained each step of the process along the way. We will definitely call PoorBoy Electric & Lighting for any future home electrical needs.
Wonderful service, he came out on a Friday evening and explained everything, fixed everything
and very, very reasonable pricing. Definitely will refer in the future.
Our kitchen had a partial outage today and caused our fridge to turn off. We contacted PoorBoy Electric and the owner, Eric, responded almost immediately. Although he was booked out for weeks, he still made time for us to fix our issue the same day which we are very thankful for. Even offered over the phone troubleshooting for free before coming by. Fixed our problem within 30 minutes of being here and was on his way. Thanks Eric!
Had a self-inflicted electrical issue and called asking for help. I was able to resolve it on my own, but kudos to these guys for engaging with me and being willing to help. We didn't end up needing their help, but i appreciate the fact that they responded to me, gave me suggestions via chat/text and seemed willing to help. Goes a long way these days. I'll call back if needed in the future.
I hate giving anything but completely positive reviews. But am getting truly frustrated by the amount of service techs that charge almost to over $100 and yet ""don't do this"" ""don""t do that"", this is a blunt round up of the service techs I've come across in the past few weeks..
I have a 8 camera security system that needs installation outside the house. According to the abundance of reviews, it's a fairly simple process, for someone who KNOWS cables and such... I know how to move them and hide them, nothing about installing and connecting. Plus, I don't do heights.
Plain & Simple.
I'm not asking for someone to get it set up technically, just up on the building.
Either way I get the ""we don't do those types"" response. The kinds they DO do, for anyone who needs this done GOOGLE NEST = YES! & RING = YES!
Mine are not either of these, and will take a little more effort.
I DO APPRECIATE the swiftness of responses.
As well as, responses as all. There's also a rash of contractors that are working but Ghost when it comes to responses..
Honestly, after reading the reviews here it would seem this company only partakes in more of ""handyman"" type services. Light duties.
I've seen their trucks around SLO and wondered if hiring them for a home electrical check up, panels, adding GFI's, changing out light fixtures, etc would be a good thing. Now I know..nope.
I've got a mixture of things and need 1 person/company that I can depend on to do it all. Both the no brainer and the brain surgery type projects.
I don't have an issue with this company, just really disappointed - I thought I was calling an Electrician, not a handyman.
Erik Poor called back promptly after we left a voice mail message. We were pleasantly surprised to find out that he would be able to do the work on the next day. Erik and a co-worker arrived a bit early and quickly took care of the work. They had some good suggestions that actually simplified the work. They were friendly and efficient and tidied up nicely afterward. All aspects of their work were handled very professionally and I recommend them highly.
We had a minor electrical emergency where several of our electrical outlets suddenly stopped working in 3 rooms, while the lights continued to work. After checking circuit breakers, we couldn't figure it out and needed professional help. I had the great good fortune to find Eric Poor of Poor Boy Electric in SLO on Yelp. As it was after hours, I texted him and asked him to phone me as soon as he was able. He literally phoned me back in 2 minutes!!! We described the problem to him, he told us exactly what to do and, in less than 5 minutes, the problem was resolved. When I thanked him and asked if I might send him a check for his time, he said, no, that he was paying it forward! So, this review is my effusive thank you.
Eric was amazingly responsive, knowledgeable, patient, respectful and extraordinarily kind. I can't recommend him highly enough and, without a doubt, will be contacting him again anytime an electrical or lighting issue presents itself!
