Recommended Customer Reviews

We had a great experience with Anthony, Jared and Leo. We had an overloaded circuit, and needed the circuit to be restored and split into three separate circuits. Anthony scoped out the project. Jared and Leo were scheduled within two days, and Spent all day completing the work. Not only did they complete the required work, they also rerouted some other lines that were not configured properly. Throughout the job, they were respectful and checked in with us if there was a cosmetic decision to be made. They really took the time to make sure their solution was the best one possible. In the end, the work was performed very well technically, and also aesthetically pleasing. We really appreciate Point Loma electric and plumbing, and we have another couple of electrical projects for which we will certainly call them again.

Unless you are in the market to pay $650 for 45 minutes of labor, I'd steer clear of this company. We hired them for a simple kitchen faucet installation. They knew the scope of work when I scheduled the appointment because that's part of the process is telling them what you need. My appointment window was 12 to 3 and the plumber showed at about 3:15. no contact prior to that to let me know he was running late. He immediately pulled out his iPad and showed me the quote for $653. Keep in mind a faucet costs about $200. And I don't know what the typical hourly rate is for a Plumber but it can't possibly be $600. He said all the prices are standard and not based on the length of time it takes. Everything just comes off of a price list. I asked him why they didn't disclose the price when I scheduled the appointment since they knew the scope of the work and he didn't have the answer. we reluctantly agreed to the price. He was done with the installation by 4 PM. During the install, he noticed some leaking under the sink and recommended that we caulk the sink. Good customer service would suggest he would do the caulking for us but instead, he told us what product to buy and insisted that we go buy it and do the work ourselves. Finally, I want to mention that this was not an emergency service call done after hours. This was their standard rate. Terrible business practice, terrible customer service, ridiculous pricing. There are plenty of other companies you can go with.

Can Light Installation, Pt Loma Istalled can lights in Master Bedroom, Electricians Erich and Anthony completed the work in less than a day,
No mess no clean up required. Excellent job.
Great value and overall the best.

This is the third time I've used this company and it's been 5 stars every time. Frankie Cerda is a gem - professional, knowledgeable and enjoyable to have in your home. The service has always been great!

I needed a showerhead replaced as I couldn't get the existing one off the stem. Emilio Gonzales and Selaso came to the rescue. Their friendly and knowledgeable service will make me look them up again.

Electrical and plumbing calls were a big waste of money.
The plumber came for a washer drain line leak. It cost over $700 but they didn't fix the problem, instead they replaced the wall box. No attempt to check or unclog the drain from what I saw.
The electricians tried diagnosing my home but couldn't find the problem. I had to break out my own multimeter to show them how to diagnose the problem. They said a foreman would have to follow up but their foreman Murphy didn't show up for any of the 3 or 4 appointments so I was sitting around waiting several days. Eventually he had someone call for him to say it's a commercial problem not residential and that he won't be coming, even though he didn't evaluate anything himself.
In total I spent about $1k and still have all the problems I started with.
I emailed them days ago with my grievances and got no response.

Great job replacing a dimmer switch. Quick, clean and very fairly priced. Will use these guys again!!

We are very happy with Point Loma Electric and the project they did for us (EV charger and NEMA outlet). They provided professional and excellent service. A little higher in cost than a couple other estimates we received, but we felt comfortable with them and they are BBB accredited. The technicians showed up on time, were very professional, explained the work that would be done, completed the job quickly and cleaned up everything before they left.

This review is strictly about price/value, NOT about quality or service (which was perfectly acceptable). I got a quote for a basic NEMA 14-15- outlet replacement (existing one burned out). This was not a new install, there was no wiring to run, circuits to replace or anything like that. The scope of the quote was:
""We will install a new Hubbell 14-50 industrial EV charger outlet
In the garage and we will install a new box and industrial raised cover"" The quote I received was for $845-(-$50 discount), so $795. It was quite a bit more than I would have guessed at the time for an outlet replacement, but was initially going to go with it as it seemed pressing to me at the time to get it done and didn't want to bother with other quotes. After sleeping on it and trying to resolve in my head the materials/labor costs, I decided to get a few other quotes for my own sanity. I got 2 other quotes in the $350-$550 range, same scope of work, same materials (I was very careful about that when comparing), established businesses/licensed electricians etc. I did mention the price quoted to the other electricians, and the response was mostly sort of a knowing head shake and chuckle eye-roll type thing (take from that wat you will). In any case, I cancelled the install with PL Electric and Plumbing and went with someone else. They did follow up via text, asked why I cancelled, etc., and I responded that the reason was ""price"". They offered to knock I think a bit more off the price (down to $710), which was still a bit more than double than the lowest other quote I had received, so I declined. There was no offer of explanation of the higher cost, and they were very professional about accepting my reason for cancellation with no further pressure.
I want to re-iterate: This rating is not at all about the quality of service, communication, follow up or anything of the sort - no complaints at all there. I also believe that the technicians are very professional and communicative etc. (one came out to do the quote). This review is simply to add to the other similar ratings which sort of question the value proposition of the higher prices. If money is not a factor, then absolutely I would have no reason to not recommend.

I'll be honest. When I was first planning to write this review, I was thinking 4 stars. This 4 star review was solely based on value, not the quality of my interactions with the scheduling staff or the technicians. Point Loma Electric's estimate came in a good bit higher than multiple other quotes I received. Greg, he technician that did the estimate told me, ""we'll get beat on prices, but not quality."" Spoiler alert, he was not wrong.
Our HOA is very strict and can be a pain for contractors to work with. Mae was very patient with the back and forth while trying to get the HOA management precisely what they needed to be able to do work in our building.
All 3 technicians, Greg, Alex, and a gentleman who's name I have forgotten were extremely courteous and professional. Alex and the technician that helped him by doing our ceiling fan install were very knowledgeable & did a fantastic job.
So what changed my mind in regards to the value of this service? The fixture we had installed was different than any other fixture I or Alex had seen before. It was a skinny rectangle with no canopy. This designed would not cover the standard round electrical box that are commonly used. I had accepted that this was a problem with the design of the light fixture, and did not blame Alex for this in any way. I was in the process of searching for a canopy/plate to cover the area when Alex came to me and said he came up with a plan with his foreman to create a plate and install it underneath the fixture for free. He was not satisfied with how the installation looked and could not leave it like that. They are currently constructing something to cover the area & scheduling an appointment to come back and install it. This level of service justifies the high price point. I will definitely be using Point Loma Electric for future needs.
