I WAS IN SHOCK!!!

I had a relatively small electrical job requiring the installation of two new sconces and the replacement of two existing ones, replacing an existing wall dimmer and mounting a separate wireless dimmer on a wall. Using wiremold, the ENTIRE in-wall wiring would total about 12"" and right above existing dimmer switch! My common sense estimate was that it would probably take two or three hours.

The good - Point Loma Electric was very responsive and the man who arrived to give me the estimate was professional. Because I didn't use them, I have no way of knowing the quality of their work.

The bad is inexcusable- I was then handed an estimate for the job of slightly over $2500! I questioned the technician about such an outrageous quote and he told me unexpected surprises could occur. I challenged him to come up with one even slightly reasonable example of that on my job. He could not. He also stated that they were not the cheapest in town. Quite the understatement!

I then proceeded to request estimates from other electricians. Each one ranged from about $500 to $700. I priced out all the parts on Amazon and purchased them all for slightly under $100. I then proceeded to hire an electrician. I supplied the parts and he quoted $500 for labor. In slightly less than three hours, the job was completed perfectly and professionally. To me, there is no ethical way to charge $2500 for a job that virtually all competitors quoted 80% less! Buyer beware and definitely shop around. I've attached the estimate to this review.

Big thanks to Point Loma Electric and Plumbing. I was in a bind with a washer and dryer scheduled for delivery to our rental house, and we needed new valves ASAP. They were understanding and flexible, and scheduled us for first thing the next morning. David was our technician and he was fantastic. He was friendly, fast, clean, and accommodating, especially since the washer and dryer delivery guys showed up at the exact same time. And his work looks great! Overall, a top notch and professional experience all the way around.

We recently moved to San Diego from Paon Springs - having purchased a top-floor condo in the new Civita neighborhood. Since we live in a condo, it's always necessary to use licensed, bonded and insured companies for repair and improvement matters. Point Loma E&P was recommended to us by a friend of our realtor. Every interraction we have had with them has been exceptional! We had them change all our interior lights to LED, which required some retrofit due to having builder-installed CFL ceiling lights - we had several plumbing fixtures updated and installed a Point of use water filter dispenser in our kitchen. Shout out to David Smith, Luis Hernandez, Michael Morales and especially to Curtis Gordon for their exceptional service and professionalism!
We look forward to using Point Loma E&P for all future service and update matters for our E&P systems.

I lost power in two rooms of my house,including my office on Friday. I reached out to a couple electricians. Pt Loma Electric was the first to respond and was able to schedule an inspection/estimate for Monday. No one else had time for me until later in the week. The communication from their office was great before Curtis arrived. They even texted a picture so I would know who would be coming to the house.
Curtis was on time, very friendly, and quickly diagnosed my problem. He quoted me what I thought was a good price and said he could fix it the same day. True to his word, he went and got the part and I had complete power the same day! In addition, Curtis did a quick review of the house and gave me advice on the condition of the other outlets, breaker box, etc.

I have an older house with the original breaker box and old circuit breakers. I awoke from an afternoon nap on Sunday and discovered the electricity was off. Went out to the breaker box and tried toggling the circuit breakers before being told the whole neighborhood has an outage. Three of the circuit breakers wouldn't toggle back on and when power was restored, only had electricity in half the house.

Called Point Loma Electric & Plumbing and spoke with Ichollie who said I can be on standby and set up an appointment later if necessary.

James Fogg called a short time later and said he could be here soon.
James arrived and examined the breaker box. He checked the circuit breakers and did safety checks on circuits in the house. We discussed the issues of older homes that use obsolete parts. James clearly explained that we can still get the old circuit breakers which are getting rare and expensive and the option of doing an expensive breaker box upgrade.

I chose to replace the existing circuit breakers. James got the parts, did the installations, and did final checks to make sure everything was good.

James is a very courteous and professional technician. I highly recommend James and Point Loma Electric & Plumbing.

Dave the plumber came out in regards to an issue we had with setting up a new washer and dryer. He was on time and very friendly and knowledgeable. He took the time to let me know what he saw and why he was making his recommendations. Our issue got solved in one visit. He answered all my questions and I felt very comfortable with all his answers. If you have a plumbing issue you I would recommend asking for Dave. Thank you Dave and Point Loma!
I hope I never have to call out a plumber again but if I do, I will definitely be calling these guys.

This is a company that we have used multiple times in the past and trusted. We have always been happy with their service until this scheduled visit. Despite scheduling a morning appointment they booked us for an afternoon and then just called us to tell us that they were unable to service us today. This is incredibly poor customer service especially when we took days of vacation in order to be home and at the house at the time of the service. We notified the customer service agent about this specifically and were offered no appointment time and no additional compensation. Given our previous experiences with this company I expected much more. Based on this experience, Beware scheduling an appointment with them as they are unreliable and their ability to make their scheduled time..

Needed to have the very basic worn out on/off switch for the lights in my bathroom replaced. Also was told by another electrician that 1 outlet in my bedroom's basic wires were crossed and needed to be corrected, even though it's been that way since 1966 and works fine . So had an appointment with PLP&E. The electrician quoted me $400 to do that work. I was so shocked. Really? They're simple things that have instructions on Utube on how to do, but you would think having a professional electrician do the work is safer. Well, not if you're an older woman owning a small condo in Point Loma. To make things even worse, a man from the company called this morning to follow up. I told him the situation and he said they do quality work and they guarantee it. Really? $400 for half an hour of work, if that long? So, he ended by saying he would get back to me next week. OMG.. so... think twice before calling these people who are just looking to take advantage of people.

Nobody wants to call a plumber- I'd only when there is a problem and so you're already stressed anticipating hassle, huge expense and having to deal with people you may be taking advantage. Our regular plumber was booked when we called for a leaky faucet. My husband noticed the work van in the area with a local number. He called and the receptionist was polite, professional and a good listener. Within a couple of days our 'technician' Brandon arrived, on time, masked, and ready to help. He too heard my concerns and was very responsive. He returned the next day with all the parts required. He did everything he promised and more at a fair price. Super satisfied with the work performed and especially with Brandon. Very courteous, intelligent, a skilled worker who left the area clean when done too. Highly recommend!!
