I was referred to Pingston by my realtors in July while under contract to purchase a home. I wanted a quote for the replacement of the two prong outlets in the home with three prong. I was verbally quoted around 1000 dollars for the work by reception, which included installing GFI breakers and replacing the outlets. I scheduled this work to be completed immediately after closing on the home. After the home inspection was completed, I sent the report to Pingston and asked for a quote on what it would cost to address the electrical issues and also replace the two prong outlets, with the priority being the latter. One of Pingston's electricians verbally quoted me $750 for all of the work, and I agreed.

On the day an electrician came to do the work, I talked him through what was to be done. He had the inspection report in hand, but I advised him to not complete some of the items as we would be remodeling and it would not be necessary. I also let him know that the outlets were priority. He said he would call me with questions.

Four hours later I received a call that his work was complete. To my surprise, the outlets hadn't been replaced. I reiterated that the outlets were the priority for the job, but the electrician needed to go to another home. I called reception and they said would not be able to get back out to my place to complete the job for a few weeks. In addition, I would be required to pay more than I was quoted for all of the work. It felt very dishonest, and I would expect a reputable business to honor their commitment and make things right when there was clearly miscommunication on their part.

When I made it home, I was not happy to discover that some work had been completed without my permission. It seems that the easiest tasks were completed (like disconnecting a light fixture), but what I had originally asked for (the outlets and GFI breakers) were ignored. I also discovered that a circuit had been disconnected for some reason, which caused the ceiling fan in my living room to stop working. So not only did the job get left unfinished, but they literally created another problem with my electrical. When I raised the issue with the office they did send someone out to fix it later in the day, but the entire situation could have been avoided if I had been consulted by the electrician on the day of (like he said he would) and if the office had properly communicated what work was to be completed to the electrician.

I do not think anyone I interacted with at Pingston is a bad person. I had high expectations for this company as they had been recommended by my realtors, and they're certainly not cheap. But based on my experience and how everything was handled, I definitely would not recommend Pingston. They did take some money off of my bill, but at the end of the day what I had originally asked for was not completed. Spend your money elsewhere if you value a business that prioritizes customer satisfaction.

I paid 5k in electrical work to have it fail inspection. I had them come back to the house to replace breakers that were the issue and deemed a fire hazard according to the inspector. The issue I have is being charged to fix a problem that should have been fixed when they changed the panel and breakers. $141.00 is not much compared to 5k already spent but a little customer service goes a long way.

If you have Matthew Barnette in your employment, you should rethink that. I hired him to replace my smoke detectors and I spent the next week + listening to them go off. Texted him called him nothing, but he cashed my check! He robbed me!!

Charged me $90 for a simple diagnostic to tell me they couldn't even fix it. Then wrote me up two overpriced quotes (were talking $4500!) for new lighting in kitchen. Do not waste your time on these people will rip you off without any cares.

I needed a ceiling fan replaced for my rental, so I had it delivered and called Pingston. I gave them the tenant's number and they took it from there. When the job was done they emailed me an invoice and I paid online. Great service, couldn't be easier.

We purchased a new dishwasher and the old one was hard wired in, I called Pingston Electric to install a new outlet for the new dishwasher. Chuck Walsh came by right on time and installed the new plug quickly and efficiently. Everything was nice and neat and no mess.
I would highly recommend using Pingston Electric, prices were fair and the people are great!

The owner came out for an estimate, he was very nice and knowledgeable but when he finished he stated I would have an estimate in my e-mail that night or the next day and that was 11/11/19 and we still have not got an estimate.
11/13/19 the owner reached out to me and explained the delay to my satisfaction, so I will reserve judgment for later...

WOW! I cannot believe the audacity of this company. A simple breaker switch was replaced and I was charged $469. It was a 20 minute job and I was charged for almost 2 hours of time. When questioned I was told it was commute time. UNBELIEVABLE!!!! I would stay away from this company....unless you like being taken advantage of.

8/9/2019 update: Pingston Electric, no matter how you spin it, you charged me ~$500 for 1 hour of work to replace a breaker switch. I am always grateful for expert workmanship and quality work; however, I'm also grateful for honesty and fairness, and that was not part of my experience with your company. I reached out to your office two times and the response I received was similar to your post here. I am willing to accept that we disagree on the cost of replacing a breaker switch, but at least I am at peace knowing you, the business owner, are aware of this transaction and how your employees went about it.

John and his team did a fantastic job at our home, we lost partial power due to a burnt line coming in to the panel from the meter. They were able to respond, permit, install, get an inspection and get FPL to restore power in one day. Nothing short of spectacular. Great to have a fantastic local business like Pingston Electric to take care of our electrical needs. I would highly recommend them anytime!

I had a good feeling about this company from my first call. The lady that answered was able to set me up with an appointment for the following week. The electrician came at the appointed time and after a few minutes of trouble-shooting was able to identify and resolve our problem at a reasonable price.
