This company is a sham. Maybe I'm one of the few, but the technician was friendly he fed me 100% lies. Recommend replacing the circuit board on my furnace the switches and a couple other things. Then went on to tell me it was in such bad shape I should just get a new one. When replacing a furnace they say replace AC as well (this is apparently true). But my furnace is fine, every component they said was bad wasn't. It had a tripped heat sync that needed to be cleaned. They were ready to charge by 12,000$ for total replacement (which apparently isn't the worst price) but instead I repaired it for 335$. I could have done it cheaper and replaced the couple components for around 30$, but I was willing to pay the guy who did fix it the marked up value because he showed me all the things I can do myself.
If you're in the contra costa county use high performance heating and repair. He fixed my unit and told me exactly what I needed to repair the parts that were worn. BEFORE I paid him. If I had wanted I could have paid the 150$ service fee and fix it myself. Not the best business practice sure, but he has my 100% satisfaction vote.
So to everyone, get a second opinion before paying these huge prices. Find your local small business, they're not always the best, but these large companies only want your money.
Also, if you have small burns marks on the circuit card, those are 100% normal on an old board. The little cylinder shaped thing with 2 wires is a resistor, they get warm. So brown marks near those are normal. This isn't from Johnathan Youngs, but from me an electronics technician (who knows nothing about furnaces). I work with circuit cards a lot though.
Please don't use Perfect Star, they are Perfectly Garbage.

Horrible customer service.
We called this company to install heating service at our rental house. Everything was installed, however the unit is not working completely . We also received a call about a city inspection that they scheduled, however we were told we were to be the ones to wait for the inspector from 8am to 5pm. We were under the impression that this was something the company technicians would be handling. The first time, we spoke to a lady by the name of Lidia(not wanting to share her last name). She was profoundly rude saying that all this was stated in the contract and if not followed we would be sued. I called later on during the day, and again Lidia answered and when we let her know that it's not stated in the contract that we would be waiting for the city inspector, she said this wouldn't be in there and that instead it was due to COVID-19. We stated that this was not part of the deal and that it's a huge inconvenience for this as we would be wasting time to get this completed. We asked for the manager's name and we got someone named Mabel, who online seems to be a coordinator and not a manager. We asked to get transferred over to at least leave a voicemail, but Lidia stated she did not have a voicemail. We also asked for her email address and we got the main email address. I honestly worry about this because with winter around the corner and the heater not fully working, it's truly a necessity. The fact that the office staff is not helpful and instead yell and threaten is a huge concern issue. We really are just looking for a better solution for this problem. I'd appreciate a call back from an actual manager or the owner.

Recently my step-son purchased a home in Walnut Creek that had 2 very old gas furnaces (30 years old) and 1 old tired air conditioner. He called 2 heating and cooling companies for their estimate to install new units. He was not satisfied with the cost estimates and how they planned to do the work. So he asked me for assistance in finding a HVAC company to do the work.
I checked the internet and found Perfect Star Heating & Cooling. Read their reviews and decided to fill out a contact form. Within a short time I received a phone call from their office scheduling an appointment for Mr. Chuck Anderson to come out review the project and provide a cost estimate. He was there promptly at noon as arranged. Walked over the entire job with me and my son. Discussed how it would be done, the various equipment he recommended and why. We went with the Lennox Elite Series. He then gave us the cost estimate. There was a savings of over $12,000 from previous estimates. This cost was within our budget so we agreed, and sign the contracts. Work scheduled for the next week, and would take 2 days to do the entire job.
The following Thursday, Mr. Taniela ""Nela"" Hausia and his team of two technicians ( Juan and Miguel) arrived to do the work. We were not able to be there to greet them, but they had the key to the house and when to work.
That evening my son went to the house to check up on the progress of the project. He found two issues that needed to be corrected. The refrigerant line was not where he had expected it to be installed and the 2-A/C units needed to be moved closer together to clear an electrical panel and make room for a new fence.
Early Friday morning I arrived at the house, and soon thereafter, Nela and his team arrived sharply at 8 am. Nela called me aside and informed me that all night he had been thinking about how the refrigerant line had been installed and he was not happy with it. He mentioned that if this was his house he would not like the way it was installed. He also told me the A/C units needed to be changed and placed closer together.
I did not have to tell him what to correct. He had worried about it all night and was going to make everything right. Hela and his team went to work and by early afternoon had the project completed. It was exactly what I wanted. They had checked with us on every phase of the final stages of the work. Making sure we were satisfied with its progress.
The work was completed in a timely manner, it looked awesome, and operated perfectly. And the cost was on budget and with no changes.
All day they followed covid protocol, wore masks and maintained proper distance.
Nela and his team kept in constant communications with me and my son. Making sure that everything was how we wanted it. Placement of the A/C units, the new route of the refrigerant lines, how the furnaces would operate. The new metal cover over the A/C lines, and final locations of the disconnects. All three were polite and very helpful.
It was a pleasure working with this crew. I would highly recommend Perfect Star Heating and Cooling. Talk to Mr. Anderson and make sure you ask for Nela Hausia and his team. They will take very good care of you.

I have never had a better experience with any company who did a better job than Perfect Star. I received their information from homeadvisor, I was a bit concern, but from the person who called me to make an appointment, sales rep, installer they were all awsome. person who made the appointment was very friendly, energetic and enthusiastic. Chuck the sales rep with a 40 years of HVAC experince who loves what he does you can' beat that experience, he was friendly and no hurry to rush to the next appointment as others did before him, I am sure you have all experienced that. Technician Symond Russell and his helper both showed up on time, lively and friendly, explained to me as they were working on what they were doing, cleaned up after themselves, work entire 8 hours with masks and glove, and shoe covers on, really tough to do. I want to thank you for being very professional and efficient. Last but not least is there price quote was very reasonable, they mathced written price qauote from other company without any issues or fine prints to point to. very impressed.

The Perfect Star team did a great job replacing our aging HVAC system! Mike did a great job explaining the various options available and performance and price tradeoffs, and he gave us a price that beat the competition. The installation team of Symond, Russell and Jayson was courteous, methodical and respectful of masking and social distancing. They handled some tight installation conditions very well and left a very clean site. Couldn't be happier with Perfect Star on all fronts. Highly recommended.

Justin Ordonez responded to my home and was AWESOME! He showed up on time and super friendly. Was extremely professional and knowledgable. He guided me through his service inspection from A-Z and explained each step of his process in ""layman"" terms without making me feel like to much of an idiot lol. I would highly recommend Justin to anyone looking for a competent and professional master tech! Give that man a RAISE!

Loved the service and the professionalism. David, Shey, and Vincent arrived right on time and ready to start. They kept everything clean as they worked and did not stop until it was all done. They had masks on and each time they entered the house they covered their shoes. In the end, everything looked a lot nicer than the previous units we had. We got a full ""tour"" of the system and what each part did, specially the safety items. I totally recommend them if you need your unit serviced.

The team that replaced my heating and air units were amazing! Nela H., Juan T. and Miguel S. were efficient in their work, they paid attention to my home, my dogs and cleaned up better than it was! They worked until the job was done and it was a BIG job! They understood that during COVID we are all home and working and made a huge effort to partner with my daughter and I as we worked and schooled while this project was going on. I would highly recommend not only this company but this team to work on your home.

The guys from perfect star at damn near perfect! So respectful, kind, clean and fast. Simon, Russell and Jason are so professional and were a pleasure to work with. Don't look anywhere else for your heating and air conditioning needs, perfect star stands by its name!

Waste the money for the AC diagnosis service. The technician just checked my AC capacitor and did not check the refrigerant level of the AC unit. The problem of my AC unit is the compressor overheating during hot days, not the problem of compressor start. It's definitely not capacitor problem. The technician doesn't have enough experience and knowledge. Keep sale their membership program. The customer care specialist said will call me back in one hour to discuss how can they improve, but never received call back.
Will never do business again.
