Mike is amazing! He's a talented electrician to say the least. I think he's a good person for sure. You can just tell by his personality. He spent a couple days updating the electrical system in my older buildings in Encinitas. He had his work cut out for him because I added several big pieces of equipment and an electric car charger. He was done on time and on budget. Thanks Mike! We will use you again. Marty

Ok, so I have to give you a little history with our two ""dead electrical outlets"" issue before I explain why I gave Peak Electric five stars!

Our first floor bathroom electrical outlet and one of the two patio outlets had been out for a few years. Our handyman troubleshooted and concluded we HAD to be missing a GFCI outlet that has been tripped. I could NOT locate the ""missing"" GFCI and just let it go. I then hired a real licensed electrician from Angie's List. I expected the company's owner to show up, instead a very ""young guy"" came instead, saying ""the owner got busy."" Not that I have anything against ""young guys"" but I have to admit I had my doubts. You see, my mistake with ""James"" the young guy is that I told him what's been done thus far and what the diagnosis was so I think he had a pre-conceived notion of what the problem should be...anyhow, he did his own troubleshooting and finally concluded that I am missing another GFCI outlet that has tripped (just like what my handyman said). One option I had, he stated, was I can pay $200 each to replace the ""dead"" outlet with a dedicated GFCI outlet, bypassing the ""missing GFCI"" altogether. That would mean $400 since I had two dead outlets. Obviously, I didn't take his suggestion.

Ok, fast forward to a few weeks ago when our AC unit died, the ceiling fan in the upstairs landing ceiling died, and our garage door openers died. Obviously, they are all connected to this one line. Since my handyman was out of the country and couldn't help us right away (and mind you, it was when we had the terrible heat wave so no AC was brutal, not to mention having to open the garage door manually, too), he referred me to Peak Electric. Upon speaking to him, you get the ""warm"" feeling from him who sympathizes with your problems. After another day and night of scorching heat, he came the next day. Like before, I explained to Mike (the owner of Peak Electric) what the findings of the other two people were (my handyman and the ""young licensed electrician"" that I was missing another GFCI). He did his usual troubleshooting and discovered the wire (from our breaker box) that connects the AC, ceiling fan, and the garage door opener outlets were virtually screwed off of the connector (meaning the more you tightened that wire connection, the more wires broke off, due to the pressure of the tightening). It was at that precise moment of ""tightening"" all the wires onto the connectors that he heard a faint sound of wires breaking! Voila, that's when he found the problem. Since only so little of the wires were still intact, not enough juice was passing through the wires to jump start the AC (and everything else) which required a lot of power to start up. So, at least that part of the two-part problem was identified and on its way to be repaired.

Now, onto the second problem of our ""two dead outlets."" He initially couldn't figure it out, then said to me he can take a ""toner"" device and follow the electrical current sound and see where it leads. He did that and what do you know!!! He had me listen to the electrical current sounds from the bathroom out into the garage and said there is a strong current passing through this bracket. You see, we had a lot of garage shelving units installed several years ago by a neighbor and his ""crew."" Our outlets must have ""died"" during this process and we never made the connection until now. We told ourselves we'll never have a neighbor work on our house again! Mike said something fishy is going on with this particular bracket. I agreed to have him tear out the necessary drywall to inspect the area. Would you believe the ""crew"" screwed one of the bracket screws right through the wire that was connected just along the left side of the stud??? I mean, he totally missed the stud and managed to screw right dead smack in the middle of the wire stapled onto the stud. All I can say is ""WOW."" Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Mike!!! I was so happy with his discovery, honesty, and his expertise that I didn't care how much he charged me!

I would recommend Mike from Peak Electric in a heartbeat!!!

So, now, we have perfectly good working outlets, AC, ceiling fan and the garage door openers. We can't be happier with Peak Electric!

Quality, efficient, responsive, as good as it gets. Michael will get the job done. He had done numerous jobs for me and it just occurred to me I have never given him a review. Well, it's time for a 5 star review. Michael has quickly diagnosed and solved a number of electrical problems in my home. He has installed can lights in a number or rooms as well and has offered his recommendations on a number of future projects I have planned. Clean, courteous, patient, and friendly, I highly recommend Peak Electric for any electrical needs.
