Having gone through Angi to obtain this handyman service, I felt over confident that I was getting the services needed for my project. The handyman, Angi told me I was getting was not one in the same. The person sent through Stephen Gray was knowledgeable and did a good job, but at a snails pace. When this small project was finished some 9 hours later, Mr. Gray appeared at my door, with his invoice, in addition to what was paid to Angi. Materials used for the project should have been at about $50, but the bill received was $200. When I asked for the itemized receipt, Gray became short and anything but courteous. If his employee indeed picked up $200 worth of materials for my project, why was it so difficult to produce a receipt for same? He also knew in advance the scope of the project, but his employe arrived without a post hole digger and it took an incredible amount of time to dig the 3 holes with the shovel he had with him. The only good thing I can say about Stephen Gray is that the project was done well and is finished. Would I use him for anything in the future. Um. NO.

The two men who completed our project were courteous and seemed very knowledgeable. However, when we contacted Stephen at Ocala Handyman to request evidence of the company's insurance, license and if a permit was required I was told over the phone by ""Mr. Gray"" that handymen are not required to be licensed in the state of Florida, and a permit was only required for new construction. When I asked about their labor and materials warranty, Mr. Gray verbally told me that the work was guaranteed as long as he's alive and materials were covered under the manufacturer warranty. He further added that if they were to obtain a permit it would cost us an additional $2,500. He was cordial at first, but became quite curt and condescending when I questioned him about my concerns and getting the warranty information in writing. Instead of adding the details on our work order, he just sent me a brief email regarding the warranty with no reference to our address or project. This is my fault for not requesting all of the information up front. Lesson learned, hopefully not at our expense.

From the moment Stephen contacted me he displayed professionalism and went above and beyond in customer service. Any challenge or obstacle he was confronted with was handle with grace and a positive attitude which resulted in getting the job done. He is definitely the person to call if you need to get something done. As he would say everytime there was a problem ""no stress I will figure it out"". Thank you!!!
