I used the Nick of Time Handyman Service a few months ago. He installed some lights indoors, security lights outside, and fixed a few broken appliances around the house.

I contacted Nick to see how much it would cost to remove and install a new acrylic tub and surround along with hauling the old parts away. He provided me with a quick quote and breakdown of cost.

My second inquiry was for routing a kitchen vent from an existing microwave. Nick apologized but informed me this is something he was not interested in working on.

I was appreciative of the first quote and glad he was honest on what type of working he is willing to take at this time.

My husband and I needed our kitchen torn out after moving into our home. Called Nick, he called back not long after, gave us an estimate and scheduled a date. He and James, his co-worker, arrived on time, protected our floors and did a great job. They cleaned up all the mess from the demo. Couldn't ask for more. Both are pleasant to work with and both did a great job. We have had them out again to help move a large vanity into our home (not as young as we once were) and install two ceiling fans. Prices very reasonable. Will keep the phone number handy.

Services rendered: 1) Replacement of broken thermostat; and 2) ceiling fan removal and installation of new fan.

Pros: 1) Nick is FAST with his communication. He readily and quickly texted me after hours. 2) Nick embodies professionalism. He was courteous the entire time, and even cleaned up the little bits of drywall even though I told him there was no need because I was going to vacuum. I asked to watch him make the repairs, which he did not mind at all. 3) He gave me a two-hour labor quote, and while I feared that he was going to go past 2 hours (because he had to make a run to a home improvement store for a new part to secure the new, heavier fan to the ceiling), he got everything done in 2 hours flat. 4) His labor rates are extremely reasonable.

Cons: 1) None with this experience.

Summary: From start to finish, working with Nick was a breeze. Have a set list of tasks for him (don't add or deviate from it), and enjoy how easily and efficiently he gets the work done.

I called Nick for a broken kitchen faucet. Of four handymen I called, he was the only one who promptly quoted a fair price, had good phone/text etiquette, was clear on what exactly had to be done on the project, and was good about managing expectations.

The Good:

- 2-hour minimum (but not unusual) so I had to come up with other projects to fill up the time

I called Nick because he had good reviews and would probably be available. I was not disappointed. Although he was very busy, he told me he would try to call and come by toward the end of the following day. He came and installed my new side yard sump pump in less than an hour, even though it required routing electrical cord through underground conduit, and hard wiring it into my outdoor GFI circuitry. He overcame difficulty due to the age of the junction box/receptacle, and access through a garden bush that blocked his way. His fee was very reasonable, and he was courteous and capable. I would use him again and heartily recommend him.

I called Nick because I was drawn in by the reviews and his tag line ""Nick of Time."" I needed help with a home office project and I wanted it done sooner than later because my wife and I both work and it's not easy to coordinate time off and activities with our two kids. I called Nick Sunday mid-morning and he arrived late Sunday afternoon to do the job. That's pretty fast!

The job was a bit more complicated than I had described over the phone, however, he gave me a quote and came the next day with one of his crew as he promised and completed the job as promised and didn't charge me a penny more for driving to my home for the initial consultation the day before. He was polite, professional, prompt, and fair in his pricing. I was so pleased with his service that I actually paid over my estimate out of appreciation. I would certainly call Nick again and recommend him as a handyman.

Needed a job completed in our office and called Nick. An easy job, we needed about 45 recessed lightbulbs replaced around our office. He arranged for one of his crew to come out and give us an estimate that afternoon. The guy was friendly and professional, hence the 2 stars. He said Nick would be in touch within the next day or two with an estimate. Never heard back from him. I even gave him a call to see if perhaps he had my number wrong, you know, benefit of the doubt. No response to my message. I guess business must be good when you don't need to return a potential customers call.

Disappointing that there was no follow up.
