Matt, the owner, was very responsive on our job. He sent Mike to install and replace our lighting with LED fixtures. Mike was on time and was thorough on each room. We had a total of 15 lights converted to LED illumination. Mike also installed new sconce lighting in both bathrooms. I even asked Mike to install our RING doorbell.

We used Newport Coast Electric for a small problem with a broken light switch. The good news: they were responsive, efficient, pleasant and professional. The not-so-good news: they're expensive. The base charge for a visit doesn't cover the cost of actually doing anything; the time for a technician is separate. So, our problem was efficiently handled, but at a price quite a bit higher than we expected for a 15-20 min job.

Summary of below if you don't want to read:
1) extremely inefficient
2) poor customer service with rude officer manager
3) expensive with unforeseen additional charges
4) sketchy-be very careful electricians will take their time with long lunches leaving early to increase their total daily hours, and take photos of your house to communicate additional charges without telling you first, and not completely leave the property (gps tracked to get time stamped for house)

We had two ceiling fans installed, a nest door lock, ring doorbell, 2 ring cameras, and some electrical work to hide 2 tv cables to their respective outlets. Initial estimate of $1695 and then the surprise of $2035. I'll let you guys be the judge of that amount of labor for that price...
Which took 2 full days to complete.

Their electricians said they will be there at 730 but can take over an hour just to unload their equipment charging you more time. Then they will try and chat to you instead of getting the task done with no efficiency at all. Our electrician took an hour lunch and then left early despite us being promised that our work would be completed in the same day. Also be careful the time they ""leave your house"" vs the ""time they physically drive the vehicle away"" these are two different things that we learned the hard way. You will be charged for the latter. When asked if we would be charged any additional fees the electrician said no it would still be within the same quote we received but took another full day to complete the work. Then we get a call from their office saying it would be an extra $340 dollars for additional time, labor, and moving boxes...So the office calls in the morning around 9 am to let us know about this surprise charge. Not the evening after the electrician left early nor first thing in the morning when the electrician arrived at 730. So I call back and it goes to voicemail. Then I get called back while I am helping the electricians move the tv which goes to voicemail.( yes I was helping despite being charged for an extra person for that specific reason) So I call her back shortly after and immediately she was combative and defensive on the phone about the charges. I calmly expressed that I'm shocked about all these charges with zero communication before. 1) moving box fee-she claimed that it took her electricians double the time to work. Her electricians didn't once complain about that nor ask us if we needed to move them and all the locations where they were working were clear of boxes. Yes we had just moved and going through the unpacking process but non of that was impeding traffic. Meanwhile the electrician was taking photos of boxes in other locations where he was not working to show the office. 2) the office lady said well they had 2 guys there for the whole day even though they just needed an additional guy to lift the tv off the wall and place back. So instead of being efficient and saving that part for the end and having him meet up, they had him come at 730 am and putt putt around racking up the costs. 3) icing on the cake the office lady (which she never even introduced her name to me hence ""office lady"") said she'd take the $40 off for us. I said no I still don't agree to any of that. She then proceeded to comment that maybe we should have all the equipment uninstalled and we hire our own company to reinstall... I said sure if that's the most logical solution. She then changed her mind back and was said well this is the final total I hope your conscientious tells you what to do and pay the full amount and hung up on me...

Overdue write up.

To be totally transparent, I met Matt personally at church several years ago. So, when I needed some work done around the house, I naturally I wanted him to take care of it.

The unknown for me, was that he was sending his guys out to do the work, and not doing it personally.

The guys that came out were clean, professional, and did a great job. So this review touches on two things. Number one, I can vouch for Matt being a good guy. Number two, I can now say that the guys that came and did the work at the house did a great job and I couldn't be happier. Matt runs a good business and treats his workers well, which means he has steady long term guys committed to doing good work and not a revolving door or temps.
