I just called to inquire about a possible knob and tube job and some electrical work I needed help with for a new home I moved into in Oakland. It was mostly to get a second opinion and gauge how much a large job would be. The gentleman ""kindly refused"" the offer and went on to say that ""at the risk of sounding rude it wasn't the time to be calling about electrical work"". I've spoken to several electricians today and even though some of them are busy and at capacity, they took the time to speak about the work I needed help with. One electrician even drove out on Saturday morning to assess the situation and walk me through a quote. I wouldn't recommend this company just due to their rudeness.

Half the electricity at my daughter's house was not working. This was Saturday morning on the start of President's Weekend. I thought she may have to be without electricity throughout the weekend. We looked on Yelp and found My Oakland Electrician. Fortunately, the owner, Christopher, answered the call and was able to come over in a couple of hours. Christopher not only diagnosed the problem in the circuit box, he let us watch him make the repairs and taught us a lot about how the flow of electricity from PG&E comes into the home and what to look out for. His rate was very reasonable. I highly recommend Christopher!

Chris had a lot of knowledge and was able to give me what I wanted which was lighting at night by educating me about smart lighting. I was pleased when I came home to a well lit house at night. He is friendly knowledgeable and fast oh did I forget? He was kind to my wallet.

This guy knows what he is doing and he is really nice. I leave this review specifically for Chris' kind heart.

From hindsight, probably I shouldn't have vacuumed the car while charging it at the same time. 12 amps from the charger plus another 9 amps from the vacuum is not what the circuit breaker is designed to handle.

Called several electricians but only Chris picked up the call, on a Sunday afternoon. Chris said first of all, he charges $240 for a trip b/c of Sunday. OK, fair. Then he said most of the time, you could troubleshoot the problem yourself. He talked me through the whole process then YES, the power is back on.

Thanks Chris. You are a genius and a nice person. For the line of work I do, I don't charge my clients for something probably they can handle themselves. We are glad to have you around.

Called to have some electric issues fixed in my house. He seemed really busy, told me he couldn't do anything for the next month but for $225 an hour he can come over next week. Didn't really sound like he wanted to help or to get my business. Sorry things are going well for you, don't feel like you want to help so I'll be going somewhere else.

I go along with the rest of the crowd -- Chris at My Oakland Electrician is amazing. And extremely nice to boot. I was in panic mode over our wine cooler circuit going out and he very patiently explained what I should do. I was willing to pay whatever it took, but he just talked me through it. I'm definitely using him again for my other electrical needs. 10 stars.

This guy was so nice and patient on the phone. I blew a fuse at 730pm while house sitting for a friend and called him up when the bedroom breakers didn't turn anything back on. He walked me through finding the main circuit breaker to turn it on so as not to charge me for a visit. He was very upfront about what he could and could not do for a viait and what his rates were too. Would definitely recommend.

He saved me thousands of $, he is very knowledgeable ( he was the 2nd electrician I consulted after half my house went dark) friendly and went above and beyond to restore electricity in my entire house for a fraction of the price the other guy quoted.
