Mr. Electric of San Antonio service and attention to detail was better than expected. The Tripcon that they installed in our home helps us control our power usage, protect our computers, appliances, and electronic equipment. The technician was professional, caring and very knowledgeable about the device and understood how it would be of service to us. I would recommend Mr. Elect for all energy queations.

Edward from Mr Electric did a great job on our Panel and other items needed done at our home. Very thoroughly explained everything and showed work in progress and how our builder cut corners on the original installation. I'd been concerned about our panel for some time and couldn't be more pleased with the results

I was told that the company would be at my place between 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. so that they could give me an estimate on a job in my home. I received a call from someone that said that they were tied up and could come next week.
I took time from my schedule to wait for the men to arrive and then told they could see me next week. How many employees do they have? All I needed was an estimate for a change in chandeliers. That would have taken them 10 minutes.
I will look elsewhere where there are more electricians who can do a 10 minute estimate, bonded and reliable.

Not good! I had an appointment with Mr. Electric and took my half day at work to wait for him at home, and then they called me in the last minutes and told me their technician couldn't come. They rescheduled and the technician came on that time to give me an estimate.
The price he gave me was three times higher than other reputation companies in the town. So I never try out with Mr. Electric again.

Mr Electric was easy to book and our electrician, Eddie, was professional, respectful, arrived on time and completed the job in the time he said he would. He left the work area cleaner than he found it. He explained how he was going to do the job and offered a few ways of pricing and showed us how to get the best price (doing several jobs together on the same visit v. one at a time) before he started the job. This work was at my elderly parents house. He answered their questions patiently and politely. My father is hard of hearing so Eddie spoke loudly but didn't yell. I will continue to use Mr Electric for work in my fathers house but will also use him for work in my own home. I highly recommend Eddie and Mr Electric.

Rip off company of the century. Charged me over $700 to swap out a circuit breaker that took about 1 hour start to finish to diagnose and repair. $400 plus for the circuit breaker which you can buy on Amazon for $50 or so and $300 in labor fees and service charges for an hour of work. Take your business and money to an honest and reputable electrician and avoid this company like the plague.

Had an outside light switch that wasn't quite right. Works if you jiggle it to just the correct position. No problem for me, the wife wanted it replaced. $124 diagnostic. Verdict - the house is old and the fuse box and the outside box need to be replaced. Estimate - $5,000.00. Seriously. We'll be getting back to them, but first I need to replace my entire plumbing system because of a leaky faucet, and then the A/C unit because of a clogged filter. Decided I won't be going to Dr. Electric for my next physical...

I Contacted Mr. Electric after being referred by Home Advisor where he has a 4.5 rating from 146 reviews. I told them that I had a switch in my fuse box that would not stay in the on position. I explained that the fuse went to our spare bedroom and guest bath and that the home was only 3 years old. I then asked how much they charge by the hour. She told me they don't work by the hour but by the job. I was also told that it would cost $125 to send an electrician to diagnose the problem but that he would tell me how much the job would cost before proceeding.

Contacting and scheduling the inspection was easy and the two technicians, who arrived were polite and professional at 11:15 am. They finished before 12:30 pm and part of that time was used when they left our house to get supplies/parts?

Neither electrician told us what the problem was before proceeding to fix the problem. My husband signed a work order and gave them a credit card. He was not given a copy of the signed work order. They left and said the office would email an invoice to me. I got the bill by 2:00pm.
Here is what the invoice said:

""Performed diagnostic and found that CFL bulbs in bathroom shorted out compromising the switches and AFCI breaker. Replaced AFCI breaker to affected circuit. Replaced compromised switches to affected circuit. Informed customer that if problem persists the fixture will need to be changed."" I was charged $793.97.

After reviewing the bill, I called a couple of other electrical repair companies and read the description of work performed from the invoice and asked then what they thought it would cost to fix. I was told that it should cost between $250 - $300.

The bill included: Basic Diagnostic; 1 Breaker 15 - 20 AMP POLE AFCI; 2 SINGLE POLE SWITH 15 AMP; 3 LED BULBS AND A 3 YR ADVANTAGE PLAN.

1. I had asked for their 15% discount that was offered on the Home Advisor site - but did not get it.
2. I did not ask for a 3 yr protection plan.
3. I was never told how much the job would cost before they did the work.
4. I was not given a copy of the signed work order.
5. I have extra LED bulbs - had they asked.
6. The electricians spent approximately 1hour on this project.

I called Mr. Electric and talked to Jim. I told him the above story and I told him that it was entirely too costly for the work that was performed.
I gave him 2 options:

1. They could come out and remove all that they had done and give me my money back or:
2. I would pay Mr. Electric $300.00 for the job that was done.

Jim said he needed to talk with the owner and that $300 was not fair to Mr. Electric but he would call me back later in the day.

Jim did call me back and we went back and forth but he finally said he would refund the credit card $493.97. The refund was done quickly - the next day.

I am telling you my experience with Mr. Electric. You will need to decide if you need the hassle or not.

I should have checked Yelp first before hiring. First appointment was cancelled due to technician running late on another job. Second appointment, the technician spent over 90 minutes performing a free home inspection and compiling a quote. Unfortunately there was no time left to do the work that was originally requested. The technician was polite and friendly but I ultimately declined to have them do the work. The quote provided was definitely on the high end. Would not recommend.

Unfortunately I must report overpriced and unprofessional individuals. I needed a quote for electrical upgrade service to my home, as well as many other issues that I was excited to undertake. The ""ballpark number"" that the technician quoted (by using his tablet) for the electrical service upgrade was over $4,000. A few days later, they called and refused to accept the job, or even provide a quote in writing that I could use as a reference.

I went with Hill Electric, which completed the job for $2,395. They provided a quote and excellent service.

Do not go with Mr. Electric. They'll overcharge you -- if they decide to do the job at all. Worst customer service I've ever experienced.
