I found the Mr. Electric company when I did an online search for a company to install 4 ceiling fans in our new home in Montgomery, TX. The woman I spoke to was pleasant and made an appointment for them to come out and inspect the rooms where I wanted the fans and they would then provide a quote and if I accepted the price, they would do the install right then.

I gave them two stars instead of one because they made a prompt appointment and came when they said they would. Everything else went down hill from there.

When the young man arrived he said he was going to do a ""whole house"" electrical inspection, including the fan installs and give us a quote for everything he saw that was needed. I wasn't really interested in anything but the fans, but figured I'd let him do the total inspection and see what he found. He came back with a quote for an annual service plan at $89 per year, $212 to install each ceiling fan, a whole house surge protector for $717.10 and a surge protector for the HVAC unit for $416.42.

First off I didn't ask for or want an annual service plan.

The whole house surge protector was recommended because the one the builder installed was insufficient to really protect all of the devices and equipment in our home. The WHSP he was going to install was an Eaton CHSPT2ULTRA. This surge protector is available from Amazon for $189.99. I bought a whole house surge protector and installed it in less than 15 minutes.

He also said we needed a surge protector on the HVAC unit. This was going to be another Eaton but a CHSPT2SURGE model, listed on Amazon for $89.99. I bought a similar protector (Intermatic AG3000) for $65.25 and installed this one in less than 10 minutes.

The fan price of $212 per fan seemed exorbitant.

I ended up saying no to everything this guy was trying to sell us.

I ended up finding a company through Next Door/Thumbtack that assembled and installed the fans for $65 for each fan where the ceiling height was 9' and $75 for the fan where the ceiling height was 12'.

He also told me that we had only one ground rod and the electric code requires two. We actually do have two ground rods.

The total of the quote this guy gave me was $2,092.52. By doing the surge protectors myself and getting another company to install the fans we spent a total of $545.24 (including tip). This is a difference of $1,566.78. I understand that businesses need to make a profit, but these prices were ridiculous.

I think they count on people having no idea what these things and services normally cost and just hope they can gouge the ones that are naïve.

I will never use this company and suggest that you don't either.

way over priced for the job.i asked for an itemized break down of cost. i was needing a transformer. they would charge me 4700, and i found same for 2700. what else do they over charge for

They get one star because the company doesn't charge to come out to your property and give an estimate. I found this company through Angie's List. My initial reason for needing someone to come out was to take a look at my ceiling fan and give me an estimate for a repair. However, the electricians didn't even examine my ceiling fan. Instead, they asked me where my breaker box was. I figured that it had something to do with the ceiling fan, so I told them where it was. They took a very long time, after awhile I looked outside my window to see what was going on. They were in their truck. Finally, they came in and gave me a long list of what was wrong with my breaker box which is not even the purpose of my call. Essentially they told me that it was the same cost to repair the ceiling fan as it is to buy a new one and that I needed to replace my entire breaker box. The grand total was $4,487 dollars. I had someone else come out to get a second opinion the following week and they told me that nothing was wrong with my panel, What! I am not sure what kind of business Mr. Electric is running but I felt deceived. Needless to say I won't be using this company at all.

Quick repair of replacing a breaker that was failing. The response was prompt and the price was fair.

I was overcharged by your employee for our services. We trusted your employee to give us a good price where the average cost of services to upgrade a a 40 amp breaker to a 50 amp (and a cable ran 10 -6) with a surge protector ended up costing well into $1500. With our estimations and other companies suggestions the work should have only cost a maximum of $600. So unfortunately We are going to have to give your company a poor review after having multiple electricians (In our family) and two independent quotes reveal to us the overcharge. Thank you Mr. Electric for sending out people who take advantage of urgency.

The technician was on time and knowledgeable. Setting the appointment was easy, the representative was very nice, and I got a same-day appointment. I just wish the prices for services were a bit more reasonable. I will definitely call this company again in the future.

Today I have called Mr Electric 7 times. Endless recordings and menu he'll over and over . I left a message where they said you would get a callback. The call came....again endless recordings. I own several apartment complexes and am changing from gas to electric. Need help for water heaters and stoves and requiring. Huge jobs. But they obviously could not care less. They have done very good work several times for me but it is impossible to get help or talk with a live person. I am now calling where a live person eventually picks up the phone. Do they even care at all?

We had issues with our GFCI switches tripping over the last week. Mr Electric responded to my request for diagnosis and the staff was very pleasant at setting up the appointment.

Mr. Marcus Hill was our electrician. He diagnosed the problem, educated us well, and fixed the problem at a fair price.

Very hard to contact, never called back after finally talking to someone. The guy who came was very professional and knowledgeable (the reason for a star). I wanted the accept the deal, but they start to send me to others people and when finally someone picked up the phone they hang up on me. I will not recommend those guys never to my friends.

When purchasing our house the electrical panel had many issues that needed resolving.
We are having a shed built out the back with power going to the shed.
William D. came and sorted everything out. I am very impressed with the results. The new electrical panel looks great.
Ran cables to where the slab will be poured for the shed foundation.
Really good experience and would recommend. Thanks!
